What’s going on, Ikeja Electric?

SIR: I need an explanation from the Ikeja Electric management on when one unit of electricity became N500 at Alagbole-Akute as against N1,000 for 17 units from even when previously, the same  N1,000 would deliver 45 units.

I have expressed displeasure through various emails to Ikeja Electric to no avail.

What kind of system would ask you to pay for what you did not consume? Who on earth would accept such conditions? This is wickedness!

We are all shouting about corruption and unfortunately Ikeja Electric appears to be part of the game. Why are we like this?

I purchased one single phase meter for N63,061.32 which is meant to be free; we paid those that came to install, we rented the ladder for them; we even bought wires for them for the installation.

I have three existing prepaid meters already; I only needed an additional meters so each flat in the building will have a separate meter. Is there any sin against this?

I did not connect any extra wire to the pole in order to procure extra prepaid meter, apart from the wire connected to the three existing prepaid meters.

After the extra prepaid meter was installed, it came with 100 Units and at first recharge we paid N13,000 which gave 133 units and the 100 units that came with the meter was removed immediately leaving a balance of 33. It is worthy to note that after we ran out of the balance of 33 units, we bought token of N2,000.00 and we were given just four units only to be told that we are owing Ikeja Electric; on what basis please?

In an effort to see if it was an error, we purchased another token of N2,000 only for it to give is the same four units.

Something urgently must be done to correct this anomaly.

Ikeja Electric does not appear to understand the struggles of Nigerians, if one is trying to be a patriot; one should not be taken for granted. It is high time the distribution company reappraised how they are issuing meters for those who asking for extra prepaid meter(s). It should be differentiated from those who have connected to the pole without existing meters.

What is the essence of inspection? Is it not to check if everything is in order?

They even promised to suspend the bill which they eventually did. Does that mean I still have to pay for the accumulated bills I did not consume? If it continues, that means we are paying hidden charges for the new prepaid meter we ought to have gotten for free after paying N63,061.32.
