Why Godwin Maduka is right man for Anambra – Group

The Anambra Coalition For Good Governance has strongly kicked against claims made by the facilitator of Great Anambra Group that the state will not accept any person who is not homegrown as governor.

While speaking to newsmen in Awka, the National Coordinator of Anambra Coalition For Good Governance, Mr Val Igwebuike, said it was against the grain of common sense for anyone to make such statement.

He said the every bonafide Anambra indigene based abroad or not was free to contest for the governorship election or any other public office in the state.

Igwebuike threw support behind Godwin Maduka, an American-based medical practitioner, whom he said,  had placed Anambra State on the global map of medicine by setting up the biggest medical facility in the United States, the Las Vegas Pain Institute.

He stated: “Maduka has made Anambra state proud already by marketing the state abroad.  He is a household name in medicine in the U.S. He is our worthy ambassador in the United States and beyond.  If he can make us proud abroad, he can equally repeat such feat at home.

“We need his type to come home and become our governor so that he can replicate the feat he achieved in the U.S here in Anambra State. It is obvious that those against his gubernatorial ambition on account of where he lives are only demonstrating huge fear of the visible popularity of Dr Maduka.”

He concluded that only the electorates had the right and capacity to make their choices.

”He has also done well at home through his massive humanitarian gestures at home. Anambra State needs to be reconnected to the global community because of its enormous potential. Since Maduka has proved his mettle abroad, the international community will have confidence to invest in the State if he becomes the governor.

“Aside building a gigantic medical facility in his home community, Umuchukwu, he has invested in human development and built critical infrastructure in Anambra State. There is nobody in Anambra State that cannot attest to Maduka’s humanitarian gestures. What he has done for the people of the state has been remarkable. The list of what he has done in the state is endless, ” he added.
