Why I want to style Tiwa Savage, Funke Akindele, others, by IBK Clothiers

Founder of IBK Clothiers, Omowunmi Mogaji, has revealed her desire to style some of Nigeria’s top entertainment figures, citing their strong presence and ability to elevate any look.

In an exclusive chat, the fast-rising fashion designer mentioned award-winning singer Tiwa Savage, celebrated filmmaker Funke Akindele, and Nollywood stars Wunmi Toriola and Iyabo Ojo as the celebrities she dreams of designing for.

“They stand out and know how to carry fashion effortlessly,” she said. “Their confidence, influence, and boldness would make any design shine. I admire how they own every look, and that’s the kind of energy I love to dress.”

Mogaji, whose fashion brand, IBK Clothiers, is known for its clean lines and detail-driven pieces, has continued to build a loyal customer base with her modern reinterpretation of traditional outfits. One of her most popular pieces is a reimagined boubou dress, praised for its simplicity and standout appeal.

She also acknowledged the influence of the entertainment industry on fashion in Nigeria, particularly through music and film.

“The music and movie industries have played a huge role in pushing fashion forward,” she said. “Award shows, music videos, and red-carpet events give designers visibility and help promote our culture and creativity. It’s inspiring to see how style has become a big part of the entertainment narrative.”

Omowunmi, who started IBK Clothiers with limited resources, has grown the brand organically through social media and word-of-mouth, focusing on quality, consistency, and a clear identity.

Looking ahead, she hopes to collaborate with notable names in entertainment and eventually take her designs to a global stage.

“I believe fashion should help people feel like the best version of themselves,” she said. “That’s what I try to achieve with every piece I create and I look forward to seeing my work on more powerful women in the industry.”
