Why Sule won Zik prize, by organisers

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, won the prestigious Zik Prize for Good Governance for his exemplary leadership, the organisers, the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), has said.

The Advisory Board of the PPRAC stated in the citation: “Though a first-term governor, Sule, an engineer, has emerged as one of the most accomplished governors in the federation today.

“His giant strides and provision of a human face in administering the state is visible to all.”

The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of the prize by Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi (Kusenla III) and representatives of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Ridwan Akiolu to Governor Sule in the company of the Emir of Lafia and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, retired Justice Sidi Dauda.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Anyim Pius Anyim, amongst other eminent Nigerians, also received awards at the event held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday.

Now in its 26th year, the annual Zik Prize in Leadership Awards was  initiated by the PPRAC in honour of the first President Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi  said Governor  Sule’s style of inclusive administration has earned him  the  award.

Abdullahi stated this in Lafia yesterday in a chat with reporters on the significance of the award.

He described the highly revered prize as a testimony of the governor’s all-inclusive administration, exemplary leadership qualities and outstanding wealth of experience in governance.

He said the award would spur the governor to do more toward impacting positively on the lives of the people and other Nigerians.

“This prestigious and highly revered award is a testimony of Governor Sule’s all-inclusive administration, exemplary leadership qualities, and outstanding wealth of experience in governance as well as global industrialisation policy as a visionary leader.

“It did not come to us as a surprise,” the Speaker said.
