A 26-year-old businesswoman, Titilayo Ogunnaya, was on Wednesday arraigned at an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly obtaining N1.3million from her partner under false pretences.
Ogunnaya, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing before Magistrate Mrs. C. J. Momodu.
Prosecuting Inspector Ingobo Emby told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the alleged offences on September 5, 2018 at 5, Oke Close, Oregun Ikeja, Lagos.
Emby alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained N1.3million from the complainant, Mrs. Esther Oluremi, on the pretext of investing the money in her company.
He told the court that Ogunnaya promised to share the profits accruing from the money with the complainant, but failed to do so.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendant converted the money to personal use without giving any to the complainant.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Momodu granted her N200, 000 bail with one surety in the like sum.
She said the surety must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till February 19.
