A 35-year-old woman, Grace Ahmed, was yesterday brought before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining N10 million under false pretence from a cleric.
Ahmed is charged with three counts of conspiracy, obtaining under false pretence and stealing.
She pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Adeola Adedayo granted her N1 million bail with two sureties in the like sum.
The case continues on March 26.
Prosecuting Inspector Chinalu Uwadione alleged that the defendant committed the offence between September 2017 and February at Plot 3, First Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos.
Uwadione said the defendant obtained the N10 million from Ruth Uwunze, with a promise to invest it in Diamond Investment Company Ltd, but failed to do so.
