ZAMFARA State Governor Bello Muhammad on Thursday launched 16 days of activism on gender-based violence.
It was organised by the office of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Aisha Bello Muhammad.
He said there is noticeable increase in gender-based violence in the communities, hence the need for the office of the governor’s wife, in collaboration with development partners, to fight the menace.
The governor said Islam had given women a special place in the society for which he noted, his administration would remain committed to championing the cause of women and other vulnerable groups.
He said the government, through the office of the governor’s wife, would sustain its ongoing efforts and continue to identify ways of preventing violence against women.
