Chairman of Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in Anambra State, Vincent Ezekwueme, has hailed Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for rewarding a Level-12 class teacher from Abia State, Mrs. Obiagelli Mazi, for her dedication to duty and patriotism.

Mrs Mazi teaches in one of the schools in the state.

The governor reportedly spotted her during an assessment visit to public institutions around 6.30 a.m while she was waiting for her pupils.

The governor was said to have promoted the teacher to an Assistant Headmistress and rewarded her with N100,000 cash.

Speaking with The Nation on Monday, Ezekwueme said the governor’s benevolence towards the teacher would not only encourage hard work and punctuality but would foster national interest, unity and cohesion.

“I commend Governor Babagana Zulum for his sacrifices to discomfort himself to visit the school as early as 6.30 a.m.

“This act is a clear indication that he is fanatic when it comes to the welfare and interest of the people.

“The promotion (of the teacher) will serve as a foundation to encourage hard work and selfless services,” he said.

Describing Mazi as honest, conscientious and patriotic, Ezekwueme said such virtues deserved commendation and emulation.

“I appeal to Federal Government to award National Honours to Governor Zulum and Mrs Mazi to encourage them and motivate others to render selfless services to our dear country,” he added.
