304,852 unclaimed PVCs in Kwara – lNEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) says 304,852 registered voters are yet to claim their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in Kwara few days to the general election.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Alhaji Attaihiru Madami, disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Madami said the unclaimed PVCs were part of the 1. 4 million printed for voters registered during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) across the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

He said INEC was doing everything possible to ensure that the PVCs were collected on or before the Feb. 8, deadline for their collections.

“The commission is doing everything possible to make sure that at least 255,000 of the PVCs are collected on or before the Feb. 8, deadline.

“The remaining unclaimed PVCs will be kept in safe custody the commission thereafter,” Madami said.

He thanked the media for its numerous supports to INEC.

“Journalists must be reminded that only INEC has the authority to announce election results,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Madami also visited some worship centers in the state to sensitize the electorate on the need to collect their PVCs.
