Ahead of next year’s general elections, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Oyo North Senatorial District have declared their support for Governor Seyi Makinde and his deputy, Bayo Lawal, who will be flying the party’s flag in the governorship poll.

A statement by the PDP Chairman, Oyo North, Yinusa Yusuff, said the party fateful made the declaration, following a meeting of leaders, stakeholders and members of the party, held in Iseyin, Oyo State, recently. The chairman said all members will work together to ensure the party’s victory in all elections next year.

The stakeholders, the statement added, observed a minute of silence for the late Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyu Salau, to commiserate with the people of Iseyin on the demise of the monarch.

The statement reads in part: “The leaders equally declared the readiness of the party to foster unity among all members and to work hard for the return of aggrieved members ahead of the forthcoming elections.

“That the PDP in Oyo North Senatorial District is intact and in full support of the government of Governor Seyi Makinde.

“The meeting observed with joy the developmental strides recorded in Oyo State, particularly the Oyo North Senatorial District by Governor Makinde and praised him for this.

“It observed that there must be unity of purpose and interests across all the local governments in the district and that a party as big as the PDP in Oyo North Senatorial District will have members with certain differences. It, therefore, resolved to set up a reconciliation committee to address all issues ahead of next year’s election.”
