Senator Gabriel Torwua Suswam has ordered immediate treatment of a 15-year old girl, Miss Selumun Akortsaha, who has been suffering from a broken waist and right arm for the past five years.

The young girl hails from Utange community of Ushongo Local Government Area in Benue State.

Her father, Elder Akortsaha Atachia, told Senator Suswam that the daughter was playing with her age-mates when one of them flipped her over shoulder-high and she fell and had multiple fractures in the waist and right hand.

The condition, which she has borne for over five years made her develop a twisted waist, causing her to now hop on the ground to move from one point to the other.

Doctors who examined her already put the treatment cost at N3million.

Former Chairman of Ushongo Local Government, Hon. Joseph Asawa, drew the attention of Senator Gabriel Suswam to the challenge of the young girl when he visited the community to commission a water project in the area.

According to the father, condition had drained the entire family of funds on all fronts all in a bid to get her back to normal life.

Moved by the touching story of the young Selumun, Senator Suswam directed that the girl be taken to Emory Specialist Hospital, Makurdi, for immediate treatment, with his Chief of Staff, Dr. Moses Ukeyima, acting swiftly by paying both the treatment bills and other hospital allowances.

Young Selumun was being taken into the theatre for operation as at the time of filing this report.
