A DEVELOPER, AlMART international has just launched its novel project tagged “Affordable Homes Scheme” as part of its own effort at complementing the Lagos state government’s various housing schemes at solving the seeming intractable housing problem in the state.
Managing Director, AlMART International, Bukola Iluyomade at an event over the weekend said they came up with the scheme targeted at low to medium income earners both in the public and private sector to ensure that everybody have a decent accommodation over their heads. According to her in this scheme, you can actually own a home of N6million with as little as 10 per cent spread over 10 years. She said in the event of a subscriber wanting to do their own finishing themselves, the person can pay N1.3million out rightly to get what is known as ‘carcass’, and finish the houses themselves.
The schemes she said are in Ibeju-Lekki, Agbara and Badagry. The AIRMART boss said they consider it a duty to complement the efforts of the current administration in Lagos State to reduce the housing gap. She observed that regrettably it is in the lower cadre of the population and house types that gap exists. Adding that with many ‘to lets’, in the upscale areas of ikoyi, Lekki and Asokoro in Abuja the poor live in what cannot be considered as housing by United Nations.
She said: “We are targeting a total housing unit of about 10,000 units across the country starting with 3 locations as earlier stated.
