Amina Mohammed’s brilliance

All her life Amina Jane Mohammed, Secretary-General of the United Nations has been a leading voice in the fight against underdevelopment in Nigeria and Africa by extension. With her numerous campaigns against illiteracy, hunger, underdevelopment, and other vices affecting the flourishing of Africa and Nigeria, she acted in several capacities to make sure her longtime dream and aspirations for Africa actualize.

The mother of six is not a greenhorn when it comes to world politics after she has acted in various capacities and performed excellently well bagging several awards and also honorary degrees.

With her wealth of experience in the United Nations, she was appointed in 2015 as the minister for the environment. She resigned her appointment in January 2017 when United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed her as Deputy Secretary-General. Ever since that moment, she has witnessed tremendous success, therefore, intensifying efforts to make sure the world recovers from the shambles of Covid-19.

At the just-concluded United Nations General Assembly in New York, she spoke on salient issues affecting the world proffering solutions and also charged world leaders to commit funds to end hunger. She also melted hearts with her speech at the global citizen live in New York where she also addressed the issues of hunger and how the world economy can be revived and famine can be tackled in some developed and underdeveloped countries across the world. She also disclosed plans of the United Nations to take steps that will further put an end to global hunger and famine caused by conflict, COVID, and climate change by boosting agricultural production.
