    Group drums support for NTAC

The New Era for Sustainable Leadership and Accountability Initiative (NESLAI) has commended the Nigeria Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) for its far-reaching contributions to Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and the strengthening of South–South cooperation.

In a statement in Abuja yesterday signed by NESLAI’s Executive Director, Comrade Edwin Olorunfemi, the group described NTAC as one of Nigeria’s most impactful foreign policy instruments, noting that the Corps has consistently projected the country’s values, competence, and goodwill across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.

According to the organisation, NTAC’s technical assistance programmes—built around the deployment of skilled Nigerian professionals—have recorded measurable and lasting impacts in key sectors, including education, healthcare, engineering, agriculture, and public administration.

It noted that these interventions have significantly contributed to human capacity development in partner countries while deepening people-to-people diplomacy and fostering mutual trust.

“Through NTAC, Nigeria has not only shared expertise but has also built enduring relationships rooted in solidarity, cooperation, and shared development aspirations,” the statement said.

The organisation also praised the professionalism, patriotism, and resilience of NTAC staff and volunteers, describing them as worthy ambassadors who have upheld Nigeria’s image while serving in often challenging and unfamiliar environments.

It said that the Corps’ sustained performance, despite operational constraints, reflected a strong institutional culture and a deep commitment to service.

“NTAC has continued to deliver tangible results that reinforce Nigeria’s leadership role among developing nations and affirm the country’s commitment to collective progress,” the statement added.

While commending the Corps’ achievements, NESLAI noted that stronger institutional and financial support would help consolidate existing gains, improve programme delivery, and expand the reach of Nigeria’s technical assistance initiatives in response to growing international demand.

The organisation therefore urged the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to continue strengthening NTAC as a strategic national asset, stressing that the Corps remains central to Nigeria’s soft power, diplomatic influence, and long-term global relevance.

“NTAC has proven its value through impact, service, and results. Supporting the Corps is ultimately about sustaining Nigeria’s voice, leadership, and positive footprint in the global community,” the statement added.

Group faults southwest govs over poor budgetary allocation for PWDs

A non-governmental organisation, Disability Not A Barrier Initiative (DINABI) Nigeria, has faulted governors in the South-West over what it described as poor budgetary allocation to disability issues.

The group that raised the concern while addressing a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, lamented that less than one percent of the region’s combined 2025 budgets was set aside for persons with disabilities.

Presenting findings from the ThisAbility Budget 2025 report, the group Executive Director, Olajide Funso, expressed concern over what he described as the systematic exclusion of persons with disabilities from state budget processes.

Funso described the development as unacceptable and a clear indication of weak government commitment to the welfare and rights of persons with disabilities in the zone.

He said despite persons with disabilities accounting for over 15 per cent of the population, South-West states collectively allocated only 0.048 per cent of their combined budget of more than N6.6tn to disability inclusion.

He attributed the poor allocation to weak political will and limited understanding of disability-inclusive budgeting, singling out Ogun State for failing to make any direct budgetary provision for disability issues in its 2025 budget.

The DINABI boss also lamented the lack of accessible budget documents, noting that the situation has hindered meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in governance and service delivery.

He explained that the TAB Portal is a pioneering initiative that provides a verified, state-by-state breakdown of disability-specific budget lines, adding that it is meant to empower persons with disabilities, civil society groups, and citizens with credible data to engage government institutions.

Reacting to the report, the General Secretary of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities said inadequate funding had worsened poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion among persons with disabilities in the region.

According to the report, Oyo State recorded the highest disability-specific allocation in the South-West with N1.22bn, representing 0.179 per cent of its total budget, while Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, and Lagos recorded varying allocations, all below one per cent. Ogun State ranked lowest with zero allocation.

The report further revealed that over 60 percent of persons with disabilities surveyed had never seen any official budget document in their states.

Otti approves automatic employment for 50 outstanding TechRise graduates in Abia

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved automatic employment for 50 outstanding graduates of the TechRise Cohort 2 programme into relevant Ministries, Departments, and agencies of the state civil service.

Governor Otti announced the decision at the graduation ceremony of 849 young people who recently completed a three-month intensive training in 21st-century cutting-edge digital skills. He noted that automatic employment is subject to the beneficiaries possessing the required documentation to function within the civil service.

“I am glad that the Head of Service is here. What this means is that I have lifted the embargo to employ 50 of them. Once that exercise is completed, the embargo comes back. The documentation can be brought to me on Monday for the 50 beneficiaries,” the governor said.

He disclosed that a total of 1,359 persons have successfully completed the TechRise programme in the past 12 months, adding that they would form the critical manpower needed to drive the state’s digital transformation agenda.

Governor Otti explained that the TechRise initiative was designed to create an elite corps of competent IT solution providers who would deploy their skills and understanding of the technology ecosystem to advance the state’s development goals.

“As you may be aware, we are repositioning the service delivery architecture in the state to run more efficiently on the digital infrastructure superhighway. The aim is to rely less on physical paper, provide round-the-clock services, and ultimately improve turnaround time,” he said.

The governor further revealed that his administration is investing heavily in broadband expansion across the state, noting that the Umuahia dedicated internet access and wide area network programme has been completed and is fully operational in all government establishments in the capital city.

He said the progress being recorded in the Abia tech ecosystem reinforces his belief that leadership is about inspiring people to believe in the validity of their dreams. He also cited the recent flag-off of the Abia State DUCT Infrastructure Development Project in Aba as part of efforts to make every community in the state economically functional.

“Everything we do is connected to our overarching governance objective of making Abia a home of bountiful reward for all hardworking individuals. Whether in roads, education, urban sanitation, security, or other areas, the goal remains the same: to make Abia the best and truly number one,” Otti said.

The governor directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to provide transportation support for all graduands to their respective local government headquarters. He also approved ₦50,000 each as a Christmas package for the 849 graduands, while prize-winning graduands were awarded ₦100,000 each.

A minute of silence was observed in honour of a TechRise trainee, Mr. Princewill Ogbonnia, who died a few days before the ceremony, as Governor Otti extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

In separate remarks, the Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu; Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr. David Kalu; and Youth and Sports Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, commended Governor Otti’s unwavering commitment to youth development. They said the programme equipped participants with valuable ICT skills and urged them to continue learning and improving.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lady Oge Maduka, praised the initiative and the collaboration between the state and local governments, noting that the training went beyond technology to include leadership, discipline, and resilience.

Earlier, the CEO of Learn Factory and coordinator of the TechRise programme, Mr. Chibueze Ukaegbu, applauded the governor for his dedication to ICT development in the state and encouraged the graduands to maximise the skills they acquired.

Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Miss Chinwemeri Benjamin thanked Governor Otti for the opportunity to undergo ICT training and for the provision of laptops and other support, saying the programme would make beneficiaries economically independent.

The event, which attracted top government officials at both state and local government levels, featured testimonials from a Cohort 1 graduate, Mr. Charles Ikechukwu, who developed an application for converting waste to wealth, and Mr. Stephen Uche Onyegbulam, whose team created an app to help stranded motorists locate nearby mechanics. The ceremony also included the presentation of certificates to the graduands.

Gbenga Hashim pays condolence visit to late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s family

Former presidential candidate, Gbenga Hashim, has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Hashim described the revered Islamic scholar as a rare religious leader defined not just by learning, but by deep moral conscience and national commitment.

The Ex Presidential Candidate, who shares the same birthday, 28th June, with the late cleric, spoke in Hausa, which he later translated. He said, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi stood out in an era where religiosity is often divorced from godliness, noting that while many claim religious authority, few truly fear God.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was not just a religious man; he was highly learned, informed, and above all, a man who genuinely feared God. Many religious people do not fear God, but Sheikh Dahiru was different; he was a true man of God,” Hashim said.

Beyond his scholarly influence, Hashim emphasised the late cleric’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s unity and peace, describing him as a national figure whose impact transcended religion, ethnicity, and region.

“Apart from being an Islamic scholar, he was deeply committed to the unity of Nigeria and worked tirelessly for the peace of the nation. That is why I regard him as my father,” he added.

Hashim reaffirmed his own lifelong commitment to the ideals Sheikh Dahiru embodied, stressing that national unity and peace remain non-negotiable values in a deeply diverse country like Nigeria.

“I am also committed to the unity of Nigeria and to working for peace, irrespective of tribe, region, or religion.”

While acknowledging the pain of the loss, Hashim noted that Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s legacy remains alive in the principles he lived for.

“Yes, he is no longer with us, but what he stood for, peace and unity, remains for every Nigerian to learn from.”

Dr Hashim came with a large delegation, which included Sheikh Haliru Abdulahi Maraya (Kaduna), Dr Ibrshim Umar (Kaduna), Mr Kamaldeen Adebayo Sanni (FCT), Hajia Rabi Musa (Nassarawa), Mr Ezekiel Dinfa (Plateau), and Coordinators of the Hashim Organization in the three Senatorial Districts and 20 LGA of Bauchi State.

Tinubu is Nigeria’s strongest hope for stability, economic recovery – Faleke

The Convener of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, James Abiodun Faleke, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria’s strongest hope for stability, economic recovery, and long-term development.

Faleke said the policies and reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration since 2023 have placed the country on a bold and unprecedented path that previous governments lacked the courage to pursue.

The federal lawmaker spoke in Abuja at the weekend during the Tinubu Support Group’s annual end-of-year and Christmas outreach to the less privileged and supporters of President Tinubu. The event also marked the commencement of the nationwide distribution of rice to members of the group and vulnerable Nigerians.

Addressing a large gathering, Faleke expressed confidence that ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Tinubu would continue to enjoy strong public support, noting that his administration has demonstrated the political will to confront deep-rooted structural challenges that have hindered Nigeria’s progress for decades.

“President Tinubu is not experimenting. He is taking tough decisions and offering real solutions to Nigeria’s problems in ways no other leader has done. The past few years have clearly shown that he is prepared for the task of rebuilding this nation,” Faleke said.

Reflecting on the difficulties that preceded Tinubu’s emergence as president, particularly the naira redesign crisis, Faleke said the challenges were deliberately orchestrated to frustrate Tinubu’s electoral victory.

“We went into the election without cash and under enormous pressure, but God’s will prevailed. Despite everything, Tinubu won because Nigerians believed in his vision,” he added.

Highlighting some of the life-transforming programmes and policies of the president, Faleke pointed out the ongoing economic reforms, debt repayments, expanded student funding, increased allocations to states, and the establishment of regional development commissions across the six geopolitical zones.

He also commended the president for advancing local government autonomy, noting that states now receive improved financial flows, enabling better grassroots development.

“All these landmark achievements have strengthened his political standing nationwide,” Faleke emphasised.

Flagging off the rice distribution, TSG Director General, Dr. Umar Tanko-Yakasai, assured members of the group that the gesture is not limited to Abuja alone, as distribution will be carried out across all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.

Reiterating Faleke’s position, Yakasai noted that Nigeria’s economy is now on a stable and on course for full recovery, citing the drastic fall in commodity prices, clearing foreign debt obligations, expanding access to tertiary education funding, increasing financial allocations to states, establishing regional development commissions across the six geopolitical zones, and strengthening local government autonomy.

“President Tinubu remains the answer to Nigeria’s current challenges, as his administration has changed the national narrative and is pursuing real, lasting solutions for Nigerians,” he maintained.

The TSG leader then called on members of the group to remain supportive of the renewed hope agenda of the President Tinubu-led administration, as the group embarks on a massive mobilisation in the New Year.

Abia couple seeks help after fire guts home, leaves family homeless

An Abia couple, Mr. and Mrs. Godwin Nwosu, natives of Arochukwu Local Government Area but residents of Agbama Housing Estate in Umuahia North Local Government Area, have appealed to well-meaning Nigerians for assistance after a fire outbreak rendered them homeless.

Speaking in an interview, the distraught couple said their four children narrowly escaped death, as the incident occurred while the children were asleep. They attributed their survival to divine intervention.

Mrs. Blessing Amaka Godwin explained that the fire was caused by a candle the children had lit to read before falling asleep. The couple said they were not at home when the fire broke out.

Mr. Godwin Nwosu, a tricycle operator in Umuahia, lamented that the inferno destroyed everything the family had worked for throughout 2025, leaving them with nothing.

“I am now homeless with my family. The fire razed the entire house, and we could not salvage anything because my wife and I were not at home when it happened,” he said, appealing to kind-hearted individuals to come to their aid.

Mrs. Blessing Nwosu, a primary school teacher in Umuahia, said she resorted to buying a candle due to prolonged power outages in the area.

“We do not usually use candles in this house, but there has been no electricity in Agbama for four days. I bought it so I could read and prepare for my NCE examinations,” she explained.

Osun 2026: APC leaders call for unity to secure Oyebamiji’s victory

Ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders’ Forum in Obokun Local Government Area has called on party members to embrace unity to ensure the victory of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

In a statement jointly signed on Sunday in Osogbo by the Forum’s co-conveners, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Hon. Tunji Adesokun, the leaders said victory would be assured if party members close ranks and work together.

They described Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed, and highly experienced politician, stressing that his success at the polls must be pursued with a shared sense of purpose.

The Forum appealed to party leaders at both the state and national levels to intensify efforts at uniting all interests and opinions within the APC to guarantee electoral success.

“We are approaching a major election, and we must go into the polls as a united and cohesive group. The choice of Oyebamiji as our candidate has made the task easier, but our leaders at the state and national levels must still work hard to prevent internal sabotage,” the statement said.

The group affirmed its full alignment with Oyebamiji’s candidature, pledging to mobilise grassroots support across Obokun Local Government Area and beyond for his victory.

It restated an earlier agreement reached by APC leaders in the council area that all members should set aside allegiance to other aspirants once a candidate emerges, regardless of the constitutional mode through which the candidate was chosen.

While commending party leaders for conducting a peaceful primary election in the state, the Forum urged them to reconcile all aggrieved members in the interest of the party’s success.

According to the Forum, indications show that the electorate is eager for the return of the APC in Osun State, but warned that party members must avoid divisive tendencies. With unity and dedication, it said, victory at the polls would be easier to achieve.

The Forum also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s national leader, Chief Bisi Akande, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the Osun State Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, and the leader of the APC Elders’ Forum in the state, Pa Sola Akinwunmi, among others, for their commitment to the growth of the party

  • No drop in petrol price despite Dangote’s N699/litre slash

No drop in petrol price despite Dangote’s N699/litre slash

    • PMS sells as high as N990/litre in Delta, others

Many filling stations across the country are yet to reduce their pump prices despite the latest reduction in price to N739 or N740 per litre by Dangote Refinery.

Our correspondents who have been tracking fuel prices over the last few days found that many MRS retail outlets in Lagos and environs were selling at N850 per litre, about N110 more than the announced price for the product by the President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote.

Dangote had assured Nigerians that all MRS filling stations would sell the product at N739 or N740 per litre.

At the MRS filling station at  Alagbole,  a border town between Lagos and Ogun States, petrol sold for N850 per liter. Similarly, MRS filling stations on Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, sold between N825 and N870 per litre.

At BOVAS filling station in Ojodu, it was N820 per litre while NNPC petrol station at Berger sold at N825.

A petrol attendant in an MRS station in Alagbole, told The Nation that the price would be adjusted to N740 per litre from Monday.

“Yes, we are still selling at N850 per litre today (yesterday) because we still have old stock. Once we take delivery of new stock at the new gantry price, then we will adjust our price to N750 per litre,” the female attendant said.

Other major marketers retail outlets like Mobil, TotalEnergies, ConOil are still selling at between N850 and N890 per litre.

Reports from Oyo, Delta and Enugu States showed that petrol price ranged between N830 and N900.

But the situation is different in Abuja where some  filling stations, including NNPC, Ardova, AA Rano, and Bovas all in Abuja  have reduced petrol prices, with MRS now selling at N739 per litre.

Some outlets in the nation’s capital are selling N70 cheaper, according to findings by our reporter.

Last week, The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) called on all its members nationwide to patronise the Dangote Refinery in their purchase of premium motor spirit (PMS) or petrol, noting that the refinery already offers the best affordable price for all marketers, even as free delivery commences in January 2026.

IPMAN National President, Abubakar Maigandi, expressed delight over a recent agreement by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to begin the supply of petrol directly to registered IPMAN members.

“We are also excited at the recent agreement by the Dangote Refinery to begin the supply of PMS products directly to registered IPMAN members and its free delivery to our filling stations anywhere and everywhere in Nigeria which will commence in January 2026.

“This will again, certainly lead to further decrease in the pump price of the products at our filing stations. Therefore, I am calling on all IPMAN members nationwide to prioritise patronising the Dangote Refinery in their purchase of PMS products, as they already offer the best affordable price for all marketers today,” he said.

  • Ahead Christmas, security beefed up across states

Ahead Christmas, security beefed up across states

    • Tambuwal seeks objective analysis, support for Tinubu

The Police and other security agencies have beefed up security across the country with Christmas just five days away.

Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians usually travel to their home towns to celebrate the occasion, some by road and others by air.

Air travels have become particularly expensive this year and many of those who would have preferred to fly have either chosen to travel by road or called off travel all together.

Food prices are generally stable across the country, according to our correspondents.

Reports from different parts of the country showed that traffic from the South West and the northern states to the South East and South South has been on the increase in the last few days.

It was gathered that the beef up in security is to check attempts by unscrupulous people to use the festive period to carry out criminals activities.

In Ogun State,Police  Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and all tactical units have been directed to intensify patrols and increase police visibility in residential areas, markets, motor parks, places of worship, hospitals and along major highways.

The Police in the state are being assisted the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and local hunters.

Also, residents have been advised to report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (General Complaints Line – Toll Free): 0800 000 9111. Emergency Numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369 and 0708 497 2994.

Parents and guardians were also advised to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks, as anyone whose actions cause public disturbance, injury or damage to property will be apprehended.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, who assured residents of robust security, urged everyone to “See Something, Say Something,” emphasizing that the Gateway Shield Platform as a fast, reliable channel for reporting general complaints and security concerns via the toll-free line 0800 000 9111.

The Osun State Police Command renewed its ban on the sale and use of knockouts, bangers, fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices before, during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi said the loud explosive sounds from knockouts “are easily mistaken for gunshots or improvised explosive devices, thereby creating unnecessary panic, tension, apprehension and avoidable security alerts at a time the nation is on heightened security watch.”

“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police has directed that the use of knockouts, bangers and fireworks in residential areas, near hospitals, places of worship, markets, motor parks, along major roads and wherever is strictly prohibited”,Ojelabi said.

A similar measure is in place in all the 36 states and the federal capital territory of Abuja.

Spokesman of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, said “enhanced operational strategies” are in place to curb any form of criminality during the celebration.

The Bayelsa State Police Command said it has deployed operatives and technical assets to public spaces and religious centres in the state.

The technical assets include drone and cameras and intelligence team deployed to ensure safety of travellers, residents and visitors to the state.

Spokesman for the command Musa Mohammed said security has also been enhanced on the waterways.

“Security has been beefed up in the nooks and crannies, even on the waterways largely achieved through inter-agency collaboration.”

The Imo State Police Command launched what it called a comprehensive security reinforcement across the state to safeguard lives and property during the festive season.

Police spokesman in the state, Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma ordered the deployment of additional officers to key locations such as churches, markets, motor parks, recreational centres and major highways.

The situation is not different in Cross River State.

Security has been intensified at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo and major entry points in the state.

Similarly, security operatives have been deployed to the Oron Beach from where boats and ferries transport passengers to Calabar, Cross River State and other places.

Tension remains high in Kwara State following recent activities of kidnappers in parts of the state.

Consequently, the State police command deployed personnel to protect selected communities and critical infrastructure in the state.

Markets, worship centres, motor parks, and major public spaces across are being given special protection, spokesman for the command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said.

Ejire-Adeyemi added that joint surveillance and intelligence-sharing operations are ongoing to maintain vigilance and deter any security breach.

A commercial bus driver told our correspondent that many people are scared of travelling to the hinterland over security concerns.

“Even drivers too are frightful of embarking on travels because of banditry and kidnappings,” he said.

Insecurity: Tambuwal seeks objective analysis, support for Tinubu

The immediate governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aminu Tambuwal yesterday called for a more objective analysis of Nigeria’s security challenges and urged citizens to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration in tackling insecurity across the country.

Tambuwal, who made the call in Sokoto, stressed that insecurity in Nigeria should not be politicised.

According to him, Nigeria’s security challenges are not about President Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), or partisan politics, but about the collective safety and future of the nation.

“I have always insisted that we must not play politics with issues of insecurity. Much has been done, and a lot still needs to be done to address our country’s security challenges,” he said.

“The situation is unfortunate, but I believe there is hope in the way we are confronting these challenges.”

Tambuwal emphasised that insecurity in Nigeria was neither religious nor ethnic, stating that criminal elements affect all Nigerians regardless of background.

“The perpetrators are common criminals. Every Nigerian is affected by their heinous activities,” he added.

The former Governor of Sokoto State also appealed to the United States Government to reconsider its position and support the Tinubu administration in addressing Nigeria’s lingering security situation.

“Therefore, I call on the United States, under President Donald Trump, to reconsider its stance and support Nigeria in tackling insecurity,” he urged.

Tambuwal further said that Nigeria’s security challenges can only be addressed through collective efforts, recalling his time as a governor during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, when security issues were handled without political differences.

He encouraged Nigerians to stop viewing security challenges through a biased lens and instead analyse the situation objectively, stressing that the country and its citizens needed support from all well-meaning partners.

    Food prices stable

Prices of food items are generally stable and in some cases dropped.

A survey carried out by our correspondent at the Mile Six market in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, showed that the prices of staples like rice, beans, garri, palm oil and groundnut oil have not changed much since October.

For instance, a medium size measure of rice costs N1800, beans-N1500, Garri-N1200, Palm oil- 75Cl bottle-N2000, Groundnut oil bottle- N2300-N2500 depending on bottle size, Tomatoes-N200-N500 depending on size of the bowl while a kilogram of beef costs  N7000.

Traders said grains are cheaper in the rural parts of the state.

A bag of rice costs between N63,000 and N65,000 in Niger State while a bag of beans costs  between N70,000 and  N85,000.

A small basket of onions costs N3,000, while a basket of tomatoes costs about N5,000.

A bag of local rice goes for between N45,000 and N65,000 in Port Harcourt  while beans goes for N80, 000 and  N90,000.

A measure of white garri goes for N1,500 as against the former price of N2000  while that of  yellow garri is N1,800 down from N3000.
