    Enugu Assembly approves Mbah’s request to appoint 50 SAs

    The Enugu House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the request of Gov. Peter Mbah to appoint 50 Special Advisers (SAs) to assist in driving the administration of the State.

    The approval of the Governor’s request followed a motion moved by the Minority Leader Mr. Iloabuchi Aniagu, during plenary presided over by Speaker Uche Ugwu.

    The Governor in a letter, requested the Assembly’s approval for the appointment of the SAs and the letter was read during the plenary by the Speaker.

    Mbah said that the request was pursuant to Section 196, sub-section 1-3 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

    The Governor who said he would appreciate the House for early consideration of the request explained the Special Advisers would assist in driving the administration’s agenda to achieve exponential growth of the state’s economy.

    Mbah also requested that the remuneration and allowances of the Special Advisers be as prescribed by law or by the resolution of the House.

    The approval will bring to 77 the number of aides so far appointed by Governor Mbah since May 29.

    Popular actor Charles Okocha aka Igwe Tupac and street-hop artiste Portable absolutely cracked up fans in a recent video that has gone viral.

    The clip, a skit captured the two ‘exceptional’ stars displaying their wildness on the road after bumping into each other.

    Portable drove his red Peugeot convertible car with Charles Okocha in a red Toyota Sonata who decided to stop and somewhat corner the ‘Zazu’ crooner upon spotting him.

    He unleashed his ‘phenomenal crase’ on Portable who he expected to stop and greet him as a superstar he was dut didn’t.

    Igwe 2pac asked if Portable didn’t know who he was cursing with his feigned American accent while the latter retaliated with some ‘zazu crase’ screaming ‘I am a baboon’ and other strange sounds.

    The shouting bout and running around their cars got a bit intense as residents stood inside their compounds peeping through the gates and others from their balconies.

    By the time Igwe 2pac held Portable’s shirt who started screaming, “Dem don rip me o! Dem wan kidnap me o! Wahala! Wahala! Wahala!,” another round of drama ensued afterward.

    When Portable got away from his grip, he began to chase the actor threatening to ‘knack am jazz’ pretending to be reaching out for something in her bag as he after Okpocha.

    The video triggered massive reactions as social media users including celebrities couldn’t control their laughter.

    The film star captioned the video, “TWO GENTLEMEN Mr Phenomenal x @portablebaeby Hypeman: @jaytee_yna”.

    Grammy award-winning Afrobeats star Tems has described her life as a “testimony.”

    The singer narrated how she started from Lagos but has now gone global and become and household name.

    Tems spoke while delivering a prologue at the 2023 Essence Festival on July 2nd, in New Orleans, USA.

    “You know, my life is a testimony. I guess, for those who don’t understand, I’m from Lagos, Nigeria,” Tems said amidst wild cheers.

    The singer, thereafter, performed ‘Essence’; her record-breaking collaborative song with Wizkid who later joined her the stage of the 29th Essence Festival.

    The song peaked at number 9 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100 chart after the release of a remix version with Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber in 2021.

    Since then, Tems has worked with global heavyweights such as Rihanna, Drake, Future and Beyoncé.

    Maverick showbiz man Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has reacted to the ongoing controversy around Mmesome Ejikeme, an Anambra student accused of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

    The Nation reported Ejikeme was accused by the board on Sunday evening of manually inflating her 2023 UTME result using software to manipulate her score to 362 as against 249

    But she has since denied the allegations levied against her by JAMB noting she was incapable of forging her own results.

    Weighing in on the matter, Charly Boy raised doubts over JAMB’s claims, calling for her script to be sent to an external body to be re-marked.

    He wrote: “JAMB must produce her paper for an external body to remark. I don’t trust the mark they claim they awarded her right now.

    “JAMB has ended up making the young girl popular and the girl on the other hand exposed JAMB’s corruption & ineptitude just like INEC.”

    Gloria Carter, mother of American rap icon, Jay Z has exchanged vows with her longtime partner, Roxanne Wilshire during a star-studded ceremony.

    The wedding celebration which took place at Tribeca 360° in Manhattan on Sunday welcomed an array of A-listers, including; entertainment mogul Tyler Perry, singer Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles, Corey Gamble, and ‘Good Morning America’ co-anchor, Robin Roberts.

    Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé, who took a break from her ‘Renaissance Tour’ and their first child, Blue Ivy were at the forefront during the event with attendees partying until the early hours of Monday morning July 3.

    Since she openly revealed her s3xual orientation as a lesbian in 2017 via Jay-Z’s song “Smile” from the album “4:44,” Gloria Carter has been an inspiration for the LGBTQ+ community.

    Jay-Z’s discussion of his mother’s s3xuality in the single, which was a highly personal song, attracted an initial reluctance from her.

    The mother and son, however, spoke in-depth about it.

    She eventually agreed after Jay-Z allayed her concerns and contributed a poem she had written that was incorporated into the song.

    In the song, Jay-Z established support for their matriarch stating: “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicates/Society shame and the pain was too much to take,” he rapped.

    “Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”

    Jay-Z noted revelation and proceeding events transformed the dynamics of their relationship and made their bond stronger.

    During an appearance on “The Shop: Uninterrupted,” he revealed, “When she first heard that song, she got super defensive… We talked through it. And then, when she flew back to L.A., she had written a poem. She wrote that on the plane. It came with the American Airlines notepad… I was like, ‘You got bars, ma!’” 

    Gloria Carter began dating Wilshire in 2018, and five years later, they tied the knot in front of family and friends.

    Brentford complete £23m deal for Wolves’ Collins

    Brentford have completed a club record £23m deal to sign defender Nathan Collins from fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

    The Republic of Ireland international, 22, who only moved to Wolves from Burnley for £20.5m last summer, joins on a six-year deal.

    Collins made 31 appearances for Wolves last season, helping them to finish 13th in the top flight.

    “I’m very pleased we’ve managed to sign Nathan,” said head coach Thomas Frank.

    “He has a lot of very good abilities that we value a lot. He’s a composed and calm defender. His heading in both boxes is a big thing, both in open play and from set-pieces, which is massive in the Premier League.

    “His character is really good, and we know that character is everything. He will fit into our culture, I have no doubt about that. I see leadership potential in Nathan. He’s a perfect Brentford player – hungry and ambitious with a desire to learn.”

    He spent one season at Burnley after joining them from Stoke City in the summer of 2021.

    Wolves have turned down a £30m bid from Napoli for fellow defender Max Kilman, amid reports the club are struggling with Financial Fair Play issues.

    Collins follows Wolves captain Ruben Neves away from Molineux after the 26-year-old joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal for a club record £47m.

    Brentford have already paid in the region of £22m this summer to sign forward Kevin Schade after his successful loan spell with the club, and £11m for Netherlands goalkeeper Mark Flekken, both from Freiburg, as Thomas Frank continues to strengthen his squad.

    BREAKING: Tinubu tenders academic records from Chicago State University, others

    President Bola Tinubu has tendered copies of his educational records from the Chicago State University before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) as he opened his defence in the petition by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    Also tendered by his lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) is a 2007 letter from the United States Embassy in Nigeria, absolving Tinubu of any criminal liability in the US, and the letter of request from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the US Embassy.

    The academic records from the Chicago State University, 12 documents in all, were certified on June 28, 2023 by Jamar C. Orr, the Associate General Counsel, Office of the Legal Affairs, Chicago State University.

    Also tendered are six copies of documents relating to immigration and visa records of trips made to the US by Tinubu between 2011 and 2021, among other documents.
