Settle your differences in Southern interest, Anozie urges Igbo, Yorubas

The Eze Ndigbo of Oyo State, Dr. Alex Anozie, has urged Igbo and Yoruba across the nation to settle their differences in the interest of Southern Nigeria.

He expressed concerns over the rate at which some elements of disunity are promoting hatred between Igbo and Yoruba.

Anozie, who is also the President of Non-Indigenes Traditional Council of Oyo State, described the development as unhealthy for peaceful and harmonious co-existence among different ethnic groups in Southern Nigeria.

A statement by Anozie urged leaders of the two ethnic groups to swing into action by ensuring “the political Satanic forces that are working to disunite the South do not succeed”.

Anozie declared that it is not true that Igbos hate Yorubas or Yorubas hate Igbos.

According to him: “Yorubas are so important to the Igbos, just as Igbos are so important to Yorubas. Let us join hands to say no to those Satanic forces at work to destabilize the very long time cordial relationship existing between us in the South.

“We should also be able to see to it that peace, love for one another should reign throughout the whole country. We should stop talking hatred into our lives,  whatever misunderstanding we have, we should sit down and settle it amicably.

“Where we are not able to settle it that way, we should approach the courts to help us out, and whoever wins in the courts, we try to turn it to no victor, no vanquish, while obeying court judgements.

“The judiciary must come to the rescue now by making sure that at all time, they rule on justice, equity, fairness and the fear of God.

“Leaders in all areas must now begin to caution their followers, supporters and subjects; informing them of the serious danger ahead if we do not tread softly.

“It is not true that we cannot live in peace in Nigeria. Religious leaders who are preaching deceit, confusion and false prophesies should please stop, in the interest of our peace”.

  • UTME score: Our N3 million scholarship remains if our investigation provides otherwise, says Innoson

UTME score: Our N3 million scholarship remains if our investigation provides otherwise, says Innoson

The management of Innoson Automobile Company, says the N3 million scholarship awarded to Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme will stand if found to be innocent of the allegation by JAMB of result manipulation.

Mr Cornel Osigwe, Head of Corporate Communications at Innoson Group, stated this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Onitsha.

NAN reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), had accused Ejikeme of using a software to manipulate her score to 362 as against 249.

According to Osigwe, it is strange to hear from JAMB that Ejikeme manipulated her result.

“It is strange to us because we did our independent verification and found out that Mmesoma Ejikeme actually scored 362, when we printed her result.

“When it was claimed that she was the highest, we waited for JAMB to come and clarify it, but they did not and the media was publishing that she was the highest.

“We also waited to see if there was going to be a counter claim, but since there was no counter claim, we awarded her the scholarship as the highest scorer.

“On Sunday, it was reported that JAMB claimed that she manipulated her result. We are doing our independent investigation as we speak to know if she actually manipulated her result or the fault was from JAMB.

“If we find out that the girl actually manipulated her result for obvious reasons, we will withdraw the scholarship.

“But if we find out that the mistake was actually from JAMB; that they were the ones that awarded her the score, or probably did a review and found out that her actual score was 249, then our scholarship will still stand.”

Osigwe advised Ejikeme not to panic during this period of investigation, saying that they have the capacity to carry out proper investigation to unravel the truth.

He further stressed that if they find out that she is innocent of the allegation, whether she scored the highest or not, the scholarship will still stand.
