    Court remands man for alleged N1m fraud

    An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Friday remanded a 42-year-old man, Adegbile Musibau, for alleged N1 million fraud.

    The defendant, whose house address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.

    The Prosecutor, ASP  Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in August 2022 at Ita-Olopo Street, Ile-Ife.

    Abdullahi said that the defendant allegedly fraudulently obtained an FCMB ATM card and a phone belonging to one Bimbo Awoyera, with which he withdrew the sum of N1,030,000 from her bank account.

    He said the offence contravened sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

    The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

    The defence Counsel, Mr K. A. Akintilo, applied for the bail for the defendant in the most liberal term, with a promise that his client would not jump bail.

    Magistrate Kike Adebayo, however, ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Ile-Ife Correctional Centre, and asked the defence counsel to put in a formal bail before the court.

    Adebayo adjourned the case to June 9, for hearing.

    Former BBNaija housemate, Venita Akpofure has appealed to social media users to stop comparing her with colleagues, particularly those yet to bear children.

    Some Tweeps recently listed 10 most attractive female participants from the reality show with Venita included. 

    While Kim Oprah, Diane, Bella, Diane, and others were ranked ahead of her in some people’s polls, she however still made the top five.

    But the mother of two responded via a series of tweets, arguing it was degrading to be compared to young ladies that haven’t bore kids and yet to boost five years in the entertainment industry.

    The actress insisted her timeless personality sets her apart from others while urging the online community to rather celebrate women’s accomplishments than pitting them against one another.

    She wrote: “Respectfully I have over ten years in this industry. Pls, stop comparing me when I simply don’t need to compete or have competition. None of whom you compare to or with me have even gone through the full cycle of womanhood. I am EVERGREEN”, she tweeted.

    “Stop comparing me to young women who haven’t had kids or not even invested up to 5 years in my industry. It’s very annoying. I’m a MIDDLE AGED MOTHER of TWO. And I have a showreel that spans a decade while some of ur faves were still in secondary school.

    “Don’t allow my youthful appearance to place me in or on tables that I have shattered & graduated from. I am gracefully in my own lane. A VERSATILE talent that has worked across different genres of media at national/international standards . one of the RARE faces to cross thru ALL fields of Creative Industries Music, TV, Film, AND Billboards. I said ALL!”

    Singer Bella Shmurda has stated his senior colleague, Olamide Baddo, covered the costs of recording and filming of his chart-topping song “Vision 2020”.

    He mentioned singer Zlatan Ibile and famous dancer Poco Lee as key figures that also played significant roles in his career growth.

    He stated the YBNL huncho made an even bigger impression by promoting the song on his social media accounts as he would his signees despite not being signed to his record label.

    “Shouout to Baddo [Olamide]. He was so supportive. He had to pay ID Cabasa for the reproduction of ‘Vision 2020’. He sorted my video. And even posting it more [on social media].

    “Poco Lee used to stay with Zlatan. I was in Mainland, and he [Poco Lee] was like, ‘Bella, come now we go just dey manage for here small small.

    “And Zlatan, he received me with open hands. Anything he (Zlatan) is in the studio recording, he always calls me. He always gives me motivation,” he added.

    Kwara Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has reappointed Rafiu Ajakaye as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).

    In a statement by the State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole, the HOS congratulated Ajakaye for his reappointment.

    Covenant University urges public to disregard admission list on social media

    The Covenant University, Ota in Ogun state, has advised the public to disregard the story on social media that the 2022/2023 admission list has been released.

    Mrs Regina Tobi-David, the Acting Registrar of the Institution, gave the advice in a press statement on Monday in Ota.

    Tobi-David said that the advice became necessary for parents and students seeking admission into the university to stop them from falling victims to scammers and fraudsters.

    “The attention of the Covenant University Management has been drawn to a story that the University admission list for 2023/2024 academic session is out.

    “Please kindly note that this is not from Covenant University, as we are yet to commence our screening exercise. Scammers are at work again,”she said.

    Popular Social media platform, Twitter, has removed the verification tag attached to the account of  former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

     As at the time of reporting, the badge which is given to people who are ‘Government officials’ isn’t on the former Vice President’s twitter account.

    NBC grants Ibadan Polytechnic licence to operate radio station

    The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has granted The Polytechnic, Ibadan operating licence for Poly Ibadan FM radio station.

    NBC, in a letter dated May 22 to the Rector of the institution, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi, said the licence was a temporary one pending the time all required payments would be made.

    I’m queen of Lasgidi, says Maduagwu, reveals ‘true identity’

    Controversial actor, Uche Maduagwu, has finally decided to embrace his sexuality and reveal his true identity.

    Maduagwu, who’s been back and forth about his sexuality, posted his photo shoot adorned as a female.

    Well-known for wearing a red-brassiere, which he spotted during a one-man protest along Lekki axis over the eight-month protracted ASUU strike in 2022, the Instagram actor while captioning his post, confessed he was done concealing his sexuality.

    He also used the opportunity to announce his moniker to all and sundry.

    “I’m Finally representing my TRUE IDENTITY, no more hiding again… Na me be the Queen of LASGIDI, the Queen is here, Queen Uche Maduagwu, Queen of LASGIDI”, he wrote.

    In May 2021, Maduagwu made a dramatic U-turn about his sexuality.

    On April 19, he shocked his fans when he announced that he lied about himself being a gay

    He wrote: “Dear fans I am not gay. I lost movie roles endorsement and my girlfriend fighting for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) in Nigeria.

    “Omg! Even my girlfriend left me despite knowing I was fighting for LGBT right in naija but I no regret using my celebrity status to fight for this beautiful community.”

    The actor on January posted on his Instagram handle that he was “proudly gay” and this generated a lot of condemnation by his fans.

    But in a new development, Maduagwu claimed he was tortured and coerced by security men to denounce his gay status.

    He went further to state in another post that the fundamental right of the LGBT was not being respected noting that he was a Nigerian before being a celebrity.

    Many took to his comment section to react to his claim. A vast majority termed him as confused, urging him to get a life and stop constituting a nuisance on social media.

    While others practically abused him adding he was sick and in need of urgent medical attention.
