I’m not seeking reelection as Senate President- Lawan

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has denied any interest in seeking re-election as the President of the 10th Senate.

Lawan, in a statement in Abuja, said media reports concerning his interest in the top job of the 10th Senate were lies.

He said: “I have read some media reports that I have joined the race for the Presidency of the 10th Senate. Ordinarily, I would not have responded to these reports but when lies are not refuted, they have the tendency to create an illusion of truth.

“The truth is that I have never told anyone or held a meeting with anyone that I am running for the Presidency of the 10th Senate. So the public should discountenance the reports.

“The fact remains that I am part of the leadership of our great party, the APC, seeking to find solutions to the numerous issues arising from the contests for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly and I will continue to remain focused on that.”

Animation changing how we connect, says creator of Gbas Gbos

The creator of Gba Gbos John Alibo aka Ellalibo has emphasised the importance of animation in interconnectivity among people.

He said in an era of remote working via the Internet, online business and the ever-growing global marketplace, it’s easy to become disconnected in a society that is supposed to become more interconnected than before.

According to him, the growing animation industry has expanded more options to interact with people.

In an interview by Glamcode Media, Ellalibo explained a few ways in which animation is transforming daily living.

According to him, these areas include:

    1. Public speaking

There are many opportunities to speak in public either online or in person. A lot of companies hold company meetings or regular video conferences like, for instance, university lectures, guest lectures, or invitations to present at an event on the subject of your choice.

Where does animation fit into the picture? Isn’t public speaking about performing and acting as you are? Not necessarily! The fact is that animation can be used to bring an array of highly entertaining visually appealing elements in your talks like animated titles, slides, or even video tutorials – but you can also create an animated character that can be able to speak on your behalf!

Animation characters can be synced with your spoken words or facial expressions to present an entire speech as you’re making it. This is particularly appreciated by younger audiences or at events with a lighter tone However, they can also be utilized at any time that you feel is appropriate.

    2. Advertising

Striking animations are often used in ads. This is particularly true on the internet in a market that is growing as well as (at times) saturated. Animation allows you to stand out from your crowd with engaging or captivating designs.

Animation can be used to promote through a variety of methods as well. This could be done through an original character created by you or a digital puppet that is free, as an example; a well-designed logo or piece of branding.

Animation can also be utilized to create more sophisticated and powerful types of advertising, many international soccer teams are now using their own animated series to attract fans from both groupings!

It is possible to use video clips with animation, entire series of logos, characters, and much more to promote your company. Animation can also be highly customizable and can be customized to a range of designs and colors to fit your business or brand regardless of the concept of the business.

    3. Education

Animation is widely known as a way to engage children and students. It’s vibrant, vibrant, and captivating. It is the perfect partner, thus it is ideal for tutors and teachers seeking to make something that is memorable and informative.

Animation is a popular medium for our children as well. It’s a great instrument in the context of adult education or university aiding in the reduction of complex problems, like providing a memorable method to learn a lot.

Animation-based tutorials and videos are a great way to bring enjoyment and interactive learning – regardless of age.

    4. Business

Animation has also been an effective tool in business, drawing the attention of customers and potential clients particularly online, and establishing a real connection.

Animations can be quick yet memorable and efficient, making them a perfect complement to social media or e-commerce sites.

Olugbon urges anti-inauguration elements to desist

The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, has called on the anti-May 29 inauguration elements to desist from actions capable of jeaopardising the ongoing transition to a new administration.

The monarch, who is the vice chairman of Oyo Council of Obas and Chiefs, said the call became imperative in view of the dangerous trends in moves against the May 29 inauguration by supporters of those who lost in the presidential election.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the February 25 election, defeating others including Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP). Some of the losers are currently challenging Tinubu’s election at the election petition tribunal.

While the tribunal’s sitting is ongoing, however, the petitioners’ supporters are staging protests; attacking the APC, its candidate, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); opposing inauguration and calling for an interim government.

Oba Alao accused politicians of inciting their supporters to oppose legal aspects of the election process, exploiting the country’s diversity negatively to cause hatred and division, which he said is dangerous to the well-being of Nigeria.

He described the inauguration as the next step in the election process, stressing that the tribunal’s work finalizes it all.

He urged opposition politicians to follow their petitions through and shun incitement to violence and actions capable of setting Nigeria on fire.

He said in a statement: “The truth must be said, no matter how bitter. As a traditional ruler, I have every responsibility to speak up when I am not satisfied with what goes on in society. The kind of politics being played is a threat to the existence of the nation. Ordinarily, our diversities in ethnicity and religion should be our strength. But this strength is being weakened on daily basis by the greed being demonstrated by gluttonous politicians. There is no better time to say it than now. Maybe they will understand that the nation is not doing well.

“A situation where politicians aid and encourage division can only lead us to somewhere which is predictable. Can you imagine a government not obeying court order in a country that is expected to respect the separation of power? One principle on which democracy stands is the separation of power whereby each arm of government functions independently of one another within the ambit of the law.”

The monarch urged the incoming administration to enact laws that will criminalize incitement to hatred by citizens, groups and organizations in order to protect the unity and engender peaceful and orderly society.”

Jonathan to IoD: sustain advocacy for ethical governance

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has admonished the Institute of Directors (IoD) to ensure the advocacy for ethical governance is not mere rhetoric and slogan.

He stated this at the 40th-anniversary dinner of the Institute in Lagos.  He said the organisation has, over the years, transformed into an independent, strong, and reliable institution providing innovative solutions to different professionals in Nigeria.

He said: “As a body with membership drawn from the different cadres of our society, IoD has remained a key partner in progress and a stakeholder in our quest for good corporate culture and economic development. I am pleased that your members are the leaders who drive businesses and implement most of the corporate policies that affect the common man in different parastatals and companies across the country.

”This is why we must pay attention to your activities and continue to encourage you to deliver on the objective of boosting public policy through advocacy and building  the capacity of directors to be competent and committed professionals through well-developed programmes, mentoring schemes and sound ethical practices.”

He hailed the institute’s commitment over the years, especially on capacity development and the relentless pursuit of ethical governance in boardrooms and other spheres of governance.

While reminding them of the enormous responsibilities that lie before them, he urged them to work hard to ensure that the advocacy for ethical governance is not mere rhetoric and slogan but rather a manifest reality in the character of members, who should, in turn, implement these ideas in the various places they find themselves.

Jonathan reiterated the fact that more than ever, Nigeria needs people of integrity to be at the helm of affairs to help address the challenge of trust existing between those in positions of leadership and the citizens.
