The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate in Ibadan North Lanre Sarumi has said youths deserve better representation in the forthcoming political dispensation, saying this will contribute to the proposition of youth-centric laws and policies.
Sarumi, a youth-focused politician, said the inclusion of young Nigerians in governance will develop the nation.
Speaking in Ibadan, Sarumi expressed confidence in winning at the polls in February, adding that youths are more ready than before to take on the older generation.
According to him, the coming general election gives youths the opportunity to choose right.
“I am of the opinion that Nigerian youths deserve better. We need good representation at places that matter, where decisions are being made. This is one of the reasons I want to represent the Ibadan North Federal constituency,” he said.
The aspiring lawmaker pledged to bring home jobs, investments and empowerment programmes that will put Ibadan North on the global news and map if elected.
He said: “Youths are ready to take on the mantle of leadership. I implore youths not to make themselves available for the political class to use them in fomenting trouble during elections”.
The Ibadan-born consultant, while unveiling his plans to contest under the PDP, said, “I want to leverage on my vast knowledge to better my community.”
DJ Cuppy has made excuses for her fiancé Ryan Taylor after he threw in the towel during a recent boxing match.
The popular disc jockey explained her beau’s eyesight is certainly more important than any boxing match any day.
Ryan sparked outrage after quitting within a minute of his crossover boxing bout against Swarmz.
He had gone head-to-head with Brandon Scott, aka Swarmz, at the OVO Arena in Wembley on Saturday night.
Swarmz’s first clean jab within the first minute of the first round left the 29-year-old Taylor with swelling so bad that the referee adjudged him unfit to continue with the match.
After the fight, Taylor’s eye began to swell up badly with many suspecting that he had broken his orbital bone.
Taking to his Instagram story after the match, the amateur boxer said he immediately lost his sight after the punch, which informed his decision to quit.
“The glove caught my fucking eyeball. I can’t see shit. Mad …,” he wrote while adding a laughing emoji.
Hours later, via his Twitter handle, Taylor added: “Thank you for everyone checking on me really the support is outstanding.
“Regardless of what we do to hype up these fights. When we get in that ring anything can happen!
“I’ve put my body through things 1 million times worse than this so I’m still confused how it happened.”
But while many social media users disagree with the YouTuber star’s claim, deriding his boxing ability, his lover took to her Twitter handle to express relief about his eyesight being in good condition.
Choosing the love of her life’s sight over any boxing match and unremorseful about his decision to quit the contest, the 30-year-old entertainer shared a photo capturing her locking lips with him after he exited the accident and emergency department.
She wrote: “The LOML @RyanTaylorBMX THANK GOD your eye is recovering. You scared me from ringside straight to A&E.”
“Sorry fans, I pick his eyesight OVER any boxing match ANYDAY! #SorryNotSorry.”
However, a social media user used her details to deduce she was 32 despite celebrating her 29th birthday on September 2022.
He advised Eke to quit with the ‘football age’ and embrace her reality with pride.
As such, she trended online the previous day with the online community divided as some supported her for adopting ‘football age’, arguing it was a common thing among celebrities.

Twenty-four-year-old model and content creator Mmeli has emerged the first Head of the BBTitans Zikhayala Wahala edition House.
Mmeli emerged after all the 20 housemates gathered at the arena for the ‘Head of House’ game on the first official day of the game.
As requested by Biggie, Mmeli chose law student Ipeleng to be his deputy.
Khozi emerged the first tail of House for the maiden edition of BBTitans. She was rewarded with a tail that must be worn throughout the week.
It was a game of art design with instructions to determine the first HoH in the BBTitans Zikhayala Wahala edition. Each of the housemates had an allotted time to replicate the design using cardboard.
The housemates were divided into two – 10 male and 10 female. The female took turns in participating in the HoH game at the kick-off and Olivia from Nigeria came first while Jenni O came second to qualify for the second round.
The two Nigerians edged five South African and three Nigerian female housemates out of the game. For the male team, Mmeli came first and Lukay came second to qualify for the second round.
The two South Africans edged five Nigerians and three South African male housemates out of the game.
For the second round, Olivia, Jenni O, Mmeli, and Lukay entered a dice-throwing game and the housemate with the highest number tallies won the competition.
Biggie further threw a twist into the game by ensuring the finalists rolled the dice simultaneously and only once. Mmeli got six, Jenni O got two, Olivia got five and Lukay got six.
Mmeli eventually won the game and has immunity from the first eviction. However, the HoH will use his veto power to save one housemate, who was nominated for eviction on Sunday.
Biggie also encouraged the housemates to beg HoH to save them from eviction.
With this development, Mmeli makes history as the first HoH in the history of BBTitans and heads the House into the first week’s task and activities.
Singer Peter Okoye aka Mr P has tackled critics threatening the PSquare band because of their support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi for the 2023 poll.
He called their bluff on their career, stressing their music has gone beyond the country and Africa.
According to Mr P in a tweet said: “Dear @psquare Super fans! Thanks for the love and support over the years!
Alimi, acknowledging the decision wouldn’t be a walk in the park however, noted living in falsehood was way more expensive.
“Dear gay men, divorce your wife, set that woman free so you can finally live your truth and find inner peace. While it won’t be easy, think about the cost of living a lie,” he wrote.
Members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State have called on the party’s chairman, Fatai Adams, to resign.
The Ondo PDP had been polarised between loyalists of the Integrity Group led by the G-5 Governors and those loyal to the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
Party sources said the Ondo PDP SWC presented their demand at a meeting with the leadership of the party.
The sources said they cited the inability of Adams to lead the party to victory in next month’s general elections.
They also accused Adams of incompetence, high-handedness, lack of transparency, anti-party and polarisation of the party across the 18 local governments.
It was further gathered that the SWC told the leaders that the party Chairman has been unable to bring all aggrieved members of the party together and that the party’s candidates were working at cross purposes
A member of the SWC, who sought anonymity, said: “The Chairman of the PDP in the state is being used to carry out the selfish interest of some individuals within the party. As far as this man is the chairman, we would not win any election in Ondo in 2023.”
Another source said the party’s candidates were angry that they have not gotten any funding from the party to finance their campaign activities.
The source said many leaders of the party were in the dark about the activities within the party.
He said: “Those who have openly tabled their grievances and challenged the leadership style of Adams and Jegede have been shut out of the party.
“The ongoing crisis in the party was caused by the inordinate ambition of a former governorship candidate to become the candidate of the party again in the 2024 governorship election in the State.
“They are scheming for the 2024 governorship election instead of working towards securing a win for the 2023 election and deliver the state for PDP and Atiku. They are talking of 2024 governorship elections and that is the main reason for the division within the party.”
Publicity Secretary of Ondo PDP, Kennedy Peretei, confirmed some members of the SWC met with the leadership of the party, demanding the removal of the party chairman.
Peretei said the leaders appealed to the SWC members to sheath their swords and work with the chairman for the development of the party ahead of next month’s election
Peretei said: ” Yes there was a joint meeting with the SWC members and the party leaders but the leaders have appealed to them to let peace reign in the party.
“It is an internal issue and it has been resolved. It is a normal thing to have issues within the party.
“They can’t be talking about the removal of the party’s chairman some few days to elections, no matter the gravity of the allegations. The timing is wrong.
“There was no talk about the Chairman resigning or being suspended or removed. This is not a good time for such as the state looks forward to delivering the state for Atiku and other candidates of the party. We hope they will see reason and work for the success of the party in the next election”.

This is the second time in less than a year that his fight ended in farcical controversy.
