    Onjeh celebrates Akume at 69

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South Comrade Daniel Onjeh has felicitated with Minister of Special Duties and leader of the party in the State Senatorial George Akume on his 69th birthday.

Onjeh described Akume as his political mentor and a formidable pillar of support to him educationally and politically.

He fondly recalled that upon his election as President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in 2002, Akume was the first Governor that hosted and empowered him financially to commence his activities.

Onjeh noted Akume’s support for him didn’t just end with his tenure as NANS President but extended to his stewardship as President of the West African Students’ Union (WASU) as well as his venture into partisan politics since 2010.

Onjeh stated he can’t thank the Minister enough for placing him on Benue scholarship to complete his First Degree at the University of Ghana, Legon, after he was unjustly expelled from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State in 2002.

The statement added Akume was keenly instrumental to the rebuilding of the foundations of the modern Benue when he served as Governor between 1999 and 2007.

Describing the Minister as a uniquely humble, generous and purely detribalised Nigerian, Onjeh noted Akume helped to further unite the various tribes and ethnic groups in Benue State through the equitable spread of infrastructural projects and appointments across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, during his eight-year tenure as Governor.

Onjeh prayed for God’s abiding grace and protection upon Sen. Akume’s life, even as he wished him many happy returns in sound health, peace and joy.

Senator Ken Nnamani also restated his own commitment to Asiwaju’s presidential bid, saying that it was for the national interest.

Onoh said the former Enugu governor has remained consistent in abiding by the Asaba, Enugu and Lagos accord of the southern governors that the next president should be of a southern origin.

  • My First Time Receiving Flowers – Ladies in Lagos and Abuja Speak

My First Time Receiving Flowers – Ladies in Lagos and Abuja Speak

As I sit at my desk and scroll through my social media feed these days, I often can’t help but feel
a little envious of all the happy couples who are celebrating with bouquets of flowers and sweet
gestures. But as I continue scrolling, something catches my eye – a post from one of my own
friends in Lagos, sharing a photo of a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Regalflowers.com.ng
with the caption, “First time receiving flowers and it feels amazing!”

Intrigued, I decided to reach out to her and a few other ladies in Lagos and Abuja to hear their
stories of receiving flowers for the first time. Here’s what they had to say:

    Lola, 27, Lagos:
“I remember the first time I received flowers like it was yesterday. I was in my final year of
university and had just landed my dream internship at a top law firm. My boyfriend at the time,
who was also a law student, surprised me with a bouquet of red roses from Floralhub.com.ng to
    celebrate my achievement.

I was absolutely shocked and touched by the gesture. I had always dreamed of receiving
flowers, but never really thought it would happen to me. It made me feel so loved and special,
and it’s a memory that will always stay with me.

As a woman living in Lagos, it’s not uncommon to feel like you have to work twice as hard to
prove yourself and achieve success. So to have someone acknowledge and celebrate that
success with such a romantic gesture meant the world to me.

Looking back, I realize that that moment was just the beginning of my love affair with flowers.
I’ve received them on many special occasions since then, but that first bouquet will always hold
a special place in my heart.”

    Chika, 32 Lagos:

“My first experience receiving flowers was a little different from Lola’s. I was in my early 20s and
had just started a new job in Lagos. I was working long hours and feeling a little overwhelmed,
so it was such a surprise when I came home one day to a beautiful bouquet of red roses from
    Regal Flowers on my doorstep.

I had no idea who they were from at first, but when I saw the card attached, my heart skipped a
beat. They were from a guy I had been secretly crushing on for months. He had seen me
struggling at work and wanted to brighten my day with something special.

I was so touched by the gesture, and it made me feel like someone was looking out for me and
cared about my well-being. It was a small but meaningful act of kindness that I will always
    remember.

Since then, I’ve received flowers on several special occasions, but that first bouquet will always
hold a special place in my heart.”

    Tolu, 23 Abuja:

“My first experience receiving flowers was on my wedding day. My husband and I had a
traditional Nigerian wedding, and one of the customs is for the groom to present the bride with
gifts during the ceremony. While it is normal to see traditional items like yams, rice and so on, it
was surprising to see he had included a bouquet of red roses, which was an interesting twist on
    the tradition.

It was such a sweet and romantic gesture, and it made me feel so loved and appreciated.
I will never forget the look on my husband’s face as he presented me with the flowers. It was a
moment that captured all the love and joy we felt on our special day.

Since then, my husband has continued to surprise me with flowers on special occasions, and it
always brings a smile to my face. Flowers have a way of expressing love and appreciation in a
    relationship or even friendship.

    Ronke, 25 Lagos:

The first time I received flowers were from my then boyfriend on our first anniversary.
“I was completely surprised when he showed up at my office with a bouquet of red
roses,” Ronke recalls with a smile. “I had never received flowers before, and I was
    overwhelmed with emotions.

It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture, and it really made my day. I still have that a picture of myself holding that bouquet pressed in a frame as a reminder of that moment.

    Kemi, 28 Lagos:
Kemi, who lives in Abuja. Her first experience with flowers was a bit different than
    Yemisi’s.

She had been in a long-distance relationship with her boyfriend for a few years,
and they were always trying to find ways to stay connected and show their love for one
    another.

One day, Kemi received a package in the mail from her boyfriend. Inside, she
found a beautiful bouquet of roses, along with a sweet note telling her how much he
missed her and how much he loved her.

Kemi was overjoyed by the gift, and immediately called her boyfriend to thank him. She
couldn’t believe that he had thought to send her flowers, and it made her feel loved and
appreciated in a way that nothing else could. She kept the flowers on her desk at work,
and looked at them every day as a reminder of the strong bond she shared with her
    partner.

What about you? What was your experience receiving flowers for the first time?
