    Some security agents fuelling attacks in Kaduna community, CAN alleges

    Religious leaders under the auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State have passed a vote of no confidence on a section of security agencies, excluding the military in the area.

    This was contained in a communique at the end of a summit by the clerics following what they termed “the destruction of crops, macheting and indiscriminate killing of Christians across Sanga Local government area”.

    The CAN Secretary in the area, Apostle Silas Dabo, lamented the conflict between pastoralists and farmers has since become a merchandise and easy path to opulence by some section of security agents in the local government.

    He explained the whole situation has left farmers helpless and aggravated the situation.

    He appealed to the higher authorities to investigate the alleged favouritism and lack of justice not minding whose ox is gored.

    The pastors noted that for the fragile peace to be maintained, the security agents should desist from taking sides on conflicts between farmers and pastoralists.

    They summit also advocated that cattle grazing should be halted at the commencement of every farming season until the end of harvest just as it was the practice decades ago.

    Kwara promotes 9,000 civil servants in three years

    Kwara State Government has promoted 9,175 civil servants between 2019 and 2021.
    The government has also commenced the 2022 promotion examinations for 2,096 civil servants.
    The Nation monitored the interview session of the promotion examinations at the premises of the state Civil Service Commission.
    Some of the participants hailed Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for approving the promotion of the civil servants with cash backing as and when due.
    Participants expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the promotion examinations, expressing optimism that they would scale through.

    Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Alhaja Habeebat Yusuf, confirmed to our correspondent that the commission had promoted 9,175 since 2019 when the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq came on board.

    “In 2019, a total of 2,767 civil servants across ministries, departments and agencies were promoted. We also promoted 3,327 in 2020 while 3,081 benefitted from the 2021 promotion exercise.
    “And for 2022, a total of 2,096 civil servants have sat for promotion examinations and currently undergoing interviews, ” Yusuf disclosed.
    The chairman praised Governor AbdulRazaq for his approval and prompt release of fund for the exercise.
    She said the governor’s gesture has boosted the morale of the civil servants in the state,adding that,” unlike in the past when civil servants were stagnated, they now enjoy regular promotion in addition to other welfare packages approved for them by the AbdulRazaq’s administration.”

    The “Buga” crooner excited his fans with the announcement made via his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
    According to him, he’ll be taking the center stage around 7pm, Nigerian time to thrill the world with some sizzling Buga rhythm.
    “I will be live on FIFA stage 7pm Naija Time ( 9pm AST ) UNITING THE WORLD WITH MUSIC & FOOTBALL #fifaworldcup2022 #qatar2022  #afroclassicworldtour2022 #buga,” he tweeted.
    On November 11, Kizz Daniel was announced by FIFA as one of the headline performing artistes at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

    FIFA announced the five official performing artistes for the event on its official Instagram page.
    A few months ago, when Vado D Great tweeted that he would love to perform his hit single ‘Buga’ at the World Cup, little did he know that the universe would grant him this fervent wish.
    The performance, which is a continuation of FIFA Sound, is a kind of entertainment aimed at strengthening the bonds between music and the beautiful game of football.
    In FIFA’s list, Kizz Daniel is the only African artiste performing alongside five international award-winning singers.

    $418 million Paris Club fee: NGF insists on legal solution

     The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has insisted the dispute over the Federal Government’s planned payment of $418 million Paris Club Refund fee to some consultants should be left for the court to resolve.
    The NGF also reiterated its objection to Federal Government’s decision to privatise 10 National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs), insisting that the issue should be left to the court to decide.
    These form part of the resolutions at teleconference meeting of the NGF held on Tuesday.
    The resolutions are contained in a communiqué at the end of the meeting by its Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal.
    “Regarding the $418 million Paris Club Refund and promissory notes issued to consultants by the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Debt Management Office (DMO), the forum remains resolute in exploring all legal channels available to it in ensuring that resources belonging to states are not unjustly or illegally paid to a few in the guise of consultancies.
    “The forum, following its advocacy that the proposed privatization of 10 National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs) by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) should be stopped, instructed its lawyers to approach the Federal High Court which, at present has issued a court order restraining all the parties in the suit from taking any step or action that will make or render the outcome of the motion on notice seeking for interlocutory injunction nugatory.

    “The effect of the order of the court is that respondents cannot proceed with the proposed sale of the power plants belonging to the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHCL) until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.”
    The NGF said it was working with the Fed Govt and it’s agencies to assist victims of flooding incidents recorded in most parts of the country.
    “The forum is monitoring the flood situation across the country and working with the Federal Government, through the National Economic Council (NEC) and in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHDSD), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning (FMFBNP) and the World Bank to prepare emergency interventions to ameliorate the impact of the flood crisis especially to sustain food security.
    “Sequel to discussions between sub-sovereigns at the recently concluded 2nd African Sub-Sovereign Government Network (AfSNET) conference, the forum agreed to pursue through its membership on the Forum of Regions of Africa (FORAF) and its partnership with the African Export–Import (AFREXIM) Bank, support for enhanced dialogue, cooperation and collaboration between sub-sovereign governments around intra-African trade, investment, industrialization, and development.
    “Members were also briefed by the World Bank Task Team Leader (TTL), Professor Foluso Okunmadewa on the desired restructuring of the $750 million Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Program (CARES) programme to respond to Nigeria 2022 Flood Response following discussions with states and the National Economic Council (NEC) Ad-hoc Committee on flooding.”

    Some Nigerians on social media have carpeted the redesign of the N200, N500 and N1,000 notes, stating the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) did a terrible job.

    President Muhammadu Buhari unveiled the re-designed notes on Wednesday.

    But many Nigerians took to social media to blast the new designs.

    Shehu Sani tweeted: “If it’s Naira colour, the CBN should have just engage Snapchat.

    Ebuka Obi-Uchendu wrote: “So, ₦10, ₦20 and ₦50?”

    Tayo Faniran said: “If I buy water colour, I can just paint the old notes to achieve these new ones

    Taaooma asked: “Who color graded these monies?. Abi ink don finish for printer?’’

    Bbnaija Khloe stated: “Now I believe something is wrong with this country.”

    One YKEEZY tweeted: “Is this what the CBN called redesign? The 1k fine small sha but that #200 look like the old #500 and vice versa. This naira note no be am at all. Be like toner finish for their printer.”

    One ‘Communicator of Ilorin’ wrote: “#CBNAgain: redesigned Naira notes are in summary; – The 1k was soaked with Blue- So CBN used Hypo to get new color for The 200 naira – The 500 Naira was achieved with Snapchat filter Thunder faya the CBN Governor – Emefiele and the rest for this waste of money

    Dr.Charles Odogwu said: “With the introduction of the new #Naira notes many counterfeit notes will flood the market. I hope the CBN will put measures in place to ensure efficient dissemination of the new notes and effective control of fake notes. Beware of fake naira notes guys. Shine your eyes.

     

    A tweep, Abbey stated: “From the look of things, this new notes looks like counterfeit. Guys! Be ready for enough fake notes in circulation soon. CBN did a terrible job with the new notes. Why not sample people opinion before printing this stuff that looks like fake money? The 1k.”

     

    Savn Daniel noted: “NEW CURRENCY: These guys producing counterfeit currencies will find no difficulty reproducing the new (re)designed naira notes. Waste of resources and time.

    Chief Ikukuoma tweeted: “People that counterfeit money will have it easy with this new naira note.

    Popular skitmaker Zicsaloma has decried the rate at which hoodlums assault filmmakers in Lagos.

    He spoke after being allegedly ambushed in Lagos while shooting a video.

    Narrating the incident on his Twitter handle, Zicsaloma said street hoodlums attacked him and Nollywood actress, Chinyere Wilfred while shooting a video in the city.

    He said they demanded money from them before they could be allowed to shoot movie, which he declined leading to ambush.
