Popular music video director TG Omori has finally agreed to shoot music video for street-hop Portable.

There has been an endless banter between the duo for a while.

Though the fee remains unknown, the controversy, which witnessed constant troll of Omori by Portable was sparked after the cinematographer revealed he would charge the singer $50k to shoot a music video for him.

Shocked by the fee, the “Zazu’ crooner called out Boy director for being so expensive, arguing he couldn’t pay anyone such a huge amount for a music video shoot when he has a family to feed.

The days that followed saw Portable slamming Omori as well as his work for attempting to ‘rip’ him by asking for ’50 kwen’ to shoot his video.

But Omori, after a long silence, expressed love for Portable while noting he understood why the singer kept calling him out because he knew he might never get a video better than Zazu, which he shot.

He added that the social media noise was disturbing him from editing his videos.

  • Understanding Nigeria’s Football Betting Craze: Popular Leagues, Regulations, and Tips

Understanding Nigeria’s Football Betting Craze: Popular Leagues, Regulations, and Tips

Football betting has become an integral part of Nigeria’s sports culture. Over 65 million Nigerians are actively engaging in this activity, with football being their most popular choice. Each bettor spends around $15 daily, resulting in approximately 14 million bets and payments made online daily.

Sportsbooks in Nigeria are capitalizing on this interest by developing various promotions around popular football tournaments to attract more betting fans. The 1xbet sign-up offer is among the best for newcomers looking to start their betting journey.

Football betting in Nigeria operates under a legal framework designed to regulate the industry and protect consumers. The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) oversees betting activities, ensuring operators comply with established guidelines. These regulations aim to prevent fraudulent activities and protect bettors from exploitation.

However, enforcing these regulations can be challenging. The betting industry in Nigeria includes both licensed and unlicensed operators. While the licensed companies adhere to the NLRC’s rules, unlicensed entities often operate in the shadows, evading regulatory oversight.

    Popular Leagues and Age Demographics

The English Premier League (EPL) is the most followed football league in Nigeria. The EPL’s popularity stems from its high-quality matches, star-studded teams, and extensive media coverage. Nigerian fans ardently support clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, creating a huge betting market for EPL matches.

Other popular leagues include Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, and the German Bundesliga. Each league has a dedicated following, with fans closely tracking their favorite teams and players. The UEFA Champions League also garners significant attention, especially during the knockout stages.

Football betting attracts a diverse age group. Young adults, particularly those between 18 and 35, are the most active bettors. This tech-savvy demographic has grown up with easy access to online betting platforms. Older bettors, though fewer in number, also participate, often using traditional betting shops.

Moreover, Football betting contributes significantly to Nigeria’s economy. The industry generates substantial revenue through taxes and licensing fees, bolstering government coffers. Betting companies also create jobs, ranging from direct employment in betting shops to indirect roles in marketing, technology, and customer support.

    Betting Tips for Nigerian Fans

Several tips can help Nigerian betting fans improve their chances of success. Firstly, it’s crucial to stay informed about the teams and players. Tracking injuries, form, and recent performances can provide valuable insights. Websites and sports news channels are excellent resources for up-to-date information.

Understanding the different types of bets is also important. While outright bets on match winners are common, exploring options like over/under goals, both teams to score, and handicap betting can offer better odds and opportunities. Diversifying bet types can reduce risk and increase potential returns.

Another key aspect of successful betting is effectively managing one’s bankroll. Bettors should set a budget for their betting activities and stick to it, avoiding the temptation to chase losses. It’s advisable to bet only a small percentage of the bankroll on each bet, ensuring that one loss doesn’t deplete the entire budget.

Additionally, bettors should use reputable betting platforms. Licensed operators offer security and fairness that unlicensed sites cannot guarantee. Checking for licensing information and reading reviews can help select trustworthy betting companies.

    Final Thoughts

The future of football betting in Nigeria appears promising, driven by the nation’s enduring passion for football and technological advancements. The betting industry is expected to continue evolving with more sophisticated platforms and enhanced user experiences. Regulatory bodies will likely intensify efforts to combat illegal operators and ensure a fair betting environment.

BBTitans: Nominated pairs have diary sessions

The nominated Big Brother Titans housemates have diary sessions in pairs for the first time this season.

Following Monday’s nomination session, the pairs who are up for possible eviction ahead of Sunday had a chat with Biggie to discuss the Head of House challenge, the new Heads of House reign, and nominations.

Each pair had to guess who nominated them, and they shared interesting answers here’s what each pair had to say:

    Thabana

While it feels scary for Thabang, Nana’s partner, to be up for eviction for the first time. Nana is taking it well and believes Yelisa possibly nominated them because of Thabang’s relationship with Khosi and his recent misunderstanding with Nelisa.

    Maya

The Maya pair feel like they ‘were thrown under the bus’ as they were not initially nominated, however, due to the Heads of house use of their veto power. They saved Yelisa, and now Maya has to face eviction woes. Marvin said he felt hurt and betrayed as he believed he shared a special bond with the HoHs, especially Kanaga Jr.

    Jaykay

Jaypee and Lukay think most pairs nominated them because they are the closest pair, and most housemates see them as a threat. Lukay also mentioned Yelisa, as they are the only pair with whom they don’t share a close bond.

    Khosicle

Like Jaykay, the Khosicle pair believes many pairs nominated them as they always make it to the top three in the Head of House games. However, if Khosi had to mention three pairs, she believes Jenni Li, Juiovla, and Juvone nominated them.

    Blaqleng

Last week’s Heads of House, Blaqleng, mentioned Juiovla as the first pair they think nominated them because they put them up the previous week. Additionally, they said Juvone because of their friendship with Juiovla, Nelisa, and Maya because Marvin could not look at Blaqboi after he walked out of the diary room.

  • Kwara hosts 250 tech ecosystem builders to ease businesses

Kwara hosts 250 tech ecosystem builders to ease businesses

Kwara State Government at the weekend assembled at least 250 tech ecosystem builders across Nigeria to develop ideas and digital skills that will address some of the problems associated with government businesses in the country and beyond.

The two-day event, which attracted participants from Cross Rivers, Kano, Nasarawa, Niger and Kwara States, saw contestants coding all night, seeking to proffer solutions to letter and memo tracking systems; data capturing system; medical record systems for hospitals; election monitoring systems; among others.

Organised by the state-owned Ilorin Innovation Hub led by Temi Kolawole, some of the ICT talents were rewarded with monetary prizes at the end of the pitching exercise that was keenly supervised by a panel of judges.

Prominent among the participants and mentors were the Country Director, UK Nigeria Tech Hub, Justina Oha; House of Reps candidate (APC) Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency Hon. Mukhtar Shagaya; representative of the Director General National Information Technology and Development Agency (NITDA) and Director Zonal offices of the agency Babajide Ajayi; Vice President IHS Towers Kazeem Oladepo; Memunat Monsuma; CEO Plat Technologies Ltd Engr Taofik Abdulkareem; and some government officials, including the State Commissioner for Communications Hon. Sadiq Buhari; Executive Chairman Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) Folashade Omoniyi; Managing Director, Ilorin Innovation Hub, Temi Kolawole; Executive Chairman, State Geographic Information System (Kw-GIS) Abdulmutalib Shittu; GMD Harmony Holdings Abdulmajeed Abdullahi; and Acting GM state Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) Abdulquowiyu Olododo, among others.

Country Director, UK Nigeria Tech Hub, Justina Oha, said e-solutions are now becoming part of the processes globally, commended the state government for going digital and for the choice of Temi Kolawole as the head of Innovation Hub.

She said the United Kingdom is interested in collaborating with Nigeria and Kwara in particular to develop an enabling tech ecosystem.

“The governments of this World are looking for e-solutions to become a part of their processes, and regardless of the outcome tonight you are all winners as you are contributing to the digital economy of this World and the solutions that will matter,” she said.

“Technology drives innovation. It has come to stay and it will continue to be so. It is really difficult imagining where the World will be in the next ten years just because of the principles of multiplicity. Things are happening in a very accelerated space. And staying alive with your vision in technology is a sure way to become part of that movement.

“We will continue to work together to develop an enabling tech ecosystem in Nigeria and in Kwara state. God bless this state and all of you,” she added.

Temi said they organised the programme to unlock some key solutions in government, and also kick-start a revolution in the way government is run in Nigeria.

“We believe the government can become more efficient via adoption of technology and digital transformation. The current mode of communication in government agencies is still mostly paper-driven, which comes with several risks.

“We are putting this hackathon together to unlock some key solutions in government, and also kick-start a revolution in the way government is run in Nigeria, while supporting local talent,” he said, while speaking with newsmen late Sunday.

He said the contestants were grouped into 50 teams with each of them allocated areas of focus and identifiable problems in government businesses to solve, adding most of them are indigenes, who he said, were picked to encourage them harnessing their talents in digital space.

“They have worked on solutions on letter and memo tracking systems, data capturing systems, and medical record systems for hospitals. You know how in hospitals the files are physical. When you go to hospitals you start looking for your files, after asking you for your cards. We can rather digitize all medical records; you just enter a patient name or number, and it brings out all their records. It can even be between life and death when you spend 30 minutes looking for a patient’s file. So these are little things that can be done to solve problems in our society, using technology.

“Another example of a project that we have is the election monitoring systems. You know we have different kinds of issues in the elections, you can send in pictures where incidents happen. You can also look at the scores; how different candidates are performing in different polling units and wards just as a way of tracking and keeping accountability to compare results from different sources,” he added.

Other projects already put in place, according to Temi, was the garment factory online platform — a newly established firm by the Kwara state government, where he said people can order wholesales from anywhere in the world.

Shittu, one of the jurists at the competition, said they expected contestants to create ideas, the solutions to solve those ideas, and to assess their ability to build those ideas within the two days the event lasted, as well as their (ideas) marketability in the society.

“We have a lot of sponsors here. We have Whogohost, FibreOne, and so on. They are all here sitting down to look at the take that are here. So the talents are going to be taken on board, nurtured fully and be given the assistance they need to develop these solutions they have made and make them marketable. Some of the solutions they have made are meant to be sold to the state and the whole World”.

Memunat Monsuma – a technology expert from Edu local government of Kwara state, who spoke to the topic: “Facilitating Gender Equality on Technology”, said 89 percent of Kwara women are not IT compliant, explaining some.of the steps she has been taking to address that.

She said she has trained over 5000 women so far about the use of the internet to enable them to meet up with the global expectations.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of monetary gifts to the winning teams. The first prize (N2m) went to Team Health stack; Team INOVATIF got the 1st runner-up prize of N1m, while Team KidsTech, which is the 2nd runner up, received N500,000.

The likes of Team Machine Glow, Team Kids tech and Team Soft A1 were all rewarded with N100,000 consolation prizes for being adjudged the Best User Interface; Best Presentation; and Most sophisticated teams respectively.

  • Organ harvesting ring thriving in Nigeria, Leo Dasilva alleges

Organ harvesting ring thriving in Nigeria, Leo Dasilva alleges

Former Big Brother Naija star Leo Babarinde Dasilva has alleged the advancement of an organ harvesting ring in the country.

Organ harvesting or donation/transplantation is removing an organ from one person (the donor) and surgically placing it in another (the recipient) whose organ has failed.

Organs are sometimes forcibly removed without consent or through coercion, to then be used in transplants.

They are sold illegally to a market of buyers – some of whom may be unknowingly paying for a trafficked organ and unaware of their role in perpetuating a system of forced organ harvesting.

The reality TV star made the claim following a tweet by one LaRevulva who declared the missing person pandemic was bedeviling the country.

She also shared a link obliging persons to sign a petition in view of creating a national list of missing persons

She wrote: “I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but Nigeria has a missing persons pandemic.

“There are over 25,000 missing persons in Nigeria presently. Over 25,000 people, were gone without a trace. People should not leave home and never return to their families. Sign this petition to create a national missing persons list.”

Reacting to LaRevulva’s concerns, Leo attributed the growing number of missing persons in the country to the sudden boom of organ harvesting rings, noting how an associate luckily escape perpetrators of the cruel act.

“There is an organ harvesting ring thriving in Nigeria. Someone close to me has fallen victim and God saved him,” he tweeted.
