Tasck partners Yiaga, entertainers ahead of elections

The TASCK Creative Company has partnered with YIAGA to mobilise up to 29 million young people to vote in the upcoming elections. This is to drive its SixtyPercentofUs Initiative.

TASCK has played a significant role in driving the initiative through creatives, in keeping with the company’s commitment to encouraging creatives to use their platforms for change. TASCK hopes to accomplish the initiative’s objective of obtaining 60% of eligible young voters to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and cast their ballots in the 2023 elections by using modern and innovative political mobilization techniques.

The SixtyPercentofUs initiative has seen a number of creatives step up through TASCK to encourage their audiences to collect their PVCs.

Entertainers such as Josh2Funny, Dandizzy, and M.I Abaga are among the creatives who have contributed to the project.

With a sketch that raises awareness of how young Nigerians may address their problems by voting, comedian Josh2Funny inspires his youthful audience through humour. He further challenged young skit makers from across Nigeria through a competition called the “Get Big” challenge, which offers a cash prize to skit creators who generate creative content encouraging their audience to vote.

Popular Port Harcourt rapper Dandizzy took to the streets to freestyle for unaware Nigerians, pushing them to go and collect their PVCs with the help of his inspirational lyrics. With over 150k Instagram views, his initial video quickly became viral and is still being shared online.

Multiple award winning rapper and CEO of TASCK Jude M.I Abaga was a driving force behind the #SixyPercentofUs initiative. Through networking events and his own platform, MI continuously motivated young creatives and influencers to use their platforms to encourage their listeners to collect their PVC’s.

“As creatives, we have the power to influence our audience and so it is important that we use that power to create change,” says M.I.

“We cannot just sit back and let the older generation decide for us. We have to play our part in getting young Nigerians to the polls come 2023.”

“The 2023 General Elections will be decided by those who come out to vote and this is what TASCK is contributing to the #SixtyPercentOfUs Project. Using music challenges and the soft power of creatives as a non-traditional means to mobilize young voters to register, collect PVCs and vote in the 2023 elections.” Ibrahim Faruk, Program Manager (Governance and Development), Yiaga Africa says.

“Across various states, creatives have been creating content to mobilize citizens and have been using their platforms to ensure citizens collect their PVCs as well as voter mobilization efforts to turn out and vote on election day.”

The initiative also aims to mobilize a significant portion of first-time voters who may be eligible to cast ballots, mostly among Nigerians who have recently turned 18 years old, or roughly 18-20 million young people. To achieve YIAGA’s objectives, TASCK keeps working to capitalize on the influence that creatives have on social change.

    BBTitans: Mmeli, Nelisa dump relationship

BBTitans first head of House Mmeli has decided to break his silence over what’s happening between her and Nelisa.

After giving Nelisa the cold shoulder for days, Mmeli decided to chat with her.

On Day 13, Nelisa expressed her feelings for Mmeli, and after the Saturday night party, they had an intimate session. Following that interaction, Mmeli refrained from speaking to Nelisa.

His actions bothered housemate Yaya, who he sees as an older sister and they had a conversation where she advised him to stop avoiding Nelisa and write his mistakes.

While in the garden, he admitted to being closed off and stated his actions resulted from how their interaction impacted his relationship with the now-evicted housemate, Sandra, whom he liked. Mmeli felt like Nelisa was rubbing it in Sandra’s face, a statement Nelisa denied.

In Mmeli’s words, they ‘made a stupid decision.’ While he does not regret their session, he feels some guilt because of his friendship with Thabang, who has shared several moments with Nelisa.

Additionally, before her eviction, Sandra avoided chatting with Mmeli, which hurt him.

Mmeli later apologised for the emotional rollercoaster and for neglecting Nelisa. He said he is open to facing the consequences of his actions and encourages Nelisa not to refrain from speaking to him freely, even though he is not interested in being in a ship with her.

Nelisa, on the other hand, is open to being Mmeli’s friend as she believes ships may affect their game plan. She has no regrets but feels terrible because she likes Thabang too.

BBTitans current Heads of House, Kanaga Jr and Blue Aiva have opened up on the effects of the use of their veto power during the third-week nomination process.

During the pair’s Diary session on Day 16, Kanaga Jr said he was happy that Marvin and Yaya expressed their disappointment.

“I am happy that Marvin and Yaya expressed their disappointment. I mean a lot of people will talk behind you but they decided to approach me and we discussed it when they expressed their disappointment. It wasn’t done purposely, we just thought we should try it and see how strong the MaYa pair is. Again, we felt the Yelisa pair had been up for so many times and we decided to save them.”

  • Asake’s ‘Joha’ should’ve been remix with me – Blackface

Asake’s ‘Joha’ should’ve been remix with me – Blackface

Reggae/dancehall singer Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo aka Blackface has said he expected Asake’s ‘Joha’ to be a remix featuring him having managed to get into his brain wave in the song’s making.

A few days ago, Blackface called out YBNL’s Asake, accusing him of song theft, claiming ownership of ‘Joha’. He said he didn’t grant permission for a remix.

Explaining the reason for his outburst on social media in an interview with HipTV, the former member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz music group stated he meant no disrespect but expected Asake and his boss, Olamide to have given him credit for ‘Joha’.

He argued Asake may have consciously or unconsciously got access to his brain wave to have been able to come up with the smash hit track.
Blackface said: “First time that people have been consciously or unconsciously getting into people’s brain wave or music. And maybe they don’t even know about it.

“Listening to the music, the first thing that just hit me was the line that I had used in my own music that I released in the year 2020. You understand?! I already released that song in an album already. So hearing it, I was like somehow.

“But no disrespect because these people have really tried to put some work in. But I just feel like, it’s all about you realising let’s give credit to whom credit is due.”

Continuing, the 49-year-old singer stated: “I’m not out to say somebody is coming up and I just want to put him down because that’s not what it is. Because if you check my first album when I just came out, it was ‘Ghettochild’. And I came up with songs like, Hard Life, E dey Pain Me, Carry Us, Be Your Man and so many songs. And I tried to make sure that I was not entering into anybody’s brain wave, I’m not entering anybody’s line at all. I’m not going to take somebody’s line and do it as if…you know.

“I feel they’re doing it unconsciously, maybe they really don’t know. That’s what I feel now. Because people can just get into wave of music. But then, the reason that prompted my outburst was just the video.

“The video, TG Omori is doing a great job putting all these works, doing all these videos and really setting up and increasing the standard of the music in Nigeria. Kudos to all these guys. But when they said they spent about $165k to shoot the video, I was like, ‘What?!’ You people spent this kind of money and you guys didn’t call me for a collaboration….

“So, there’s an element of, ‘Oh ha, oh ha, come closer, Oh ha’…in that whirlwind of music. And that was the reason why I was like, ‘Come on, this got into my brain wave, somewhere. Because I like to be in a zone where if I create something, I like it to just stay. But I find out that people are trying to…maybe we are in the same brain wave, I don’t know.

“I feel I should be on that song. That should have been a remix with me and him if Olamide has said, ‘My boy is vibing to your song’. But I’m not in their camp. I don’t know what music or sound they vibe with. But I believe there could be a brain wave around that could…you know, it happens.”

But, the deceased’s family, while demanding justice, accused the police of cover-up, intimidation and attempt to force the family into an out-of-court settlement with Ogbonna and also drop charges against him.

The family also alleged that the police had changed Ogbonna’s charges from ‘manslaughter’ to ‘negligence’ to make it easily bailable.

The family’s lawyer, Mr. Odiana Eriata, who was in court said that the issue of domestic violence ought to have been properly investigated and an appropriate charge should be preferred against the culprit.

Why many celebrity marriages fail – Phyna

The winner of BBNaija Season 7 edition aka Phyna has spoken on why most celebrity marriages pack up.
Speaking in an interview on TVC, the reality star explained the failure of many celebrity marriages is because they become intoxicated with fame and begin to flaunt it in their partner’s faces.

She noted when fellow entertainers get married, there are more chances of their union to work than when they settle down with non-entertainers due to the fact that the former understands how the celebrity lifestyle work.
According to the hype priestess: “An entertainer marrying another entertainer is nice because they both understand what they’re doing. They both understand the business, so when I tell you I’m busy, you’d understand. But a non-entertainer doesn’t.

“You just need to be at the table with someone that understands. Many celebrity marriages fail because most of them front the celebrity life. When I’m with my boyfriend, I don’t even look like celebrity or talk celebrity.

“I’m like any normal girl. It’s when you start bringing in talks about you being this and that in a marriage that you start having problems. Make your relationship like that of normal people with normal lives.

“That way, it’s going to be successful. We have celebrities that have a successful marriage now.”

700k redesigned notes sold for 1m at party, Whitemoney claims

BBNaija Season 6 winner Whitemoney has expressed displeasure over the unavailability of the redesigned naira notes in banks.

The reality TV star and singer bemoaned the rarity of these newly introduced notes, wondering how some ‘black marketers’ were able to secure them which they sell at incredulous rates to interested buyers.

In an insta story video, Whitemoney claimed he recently witnessed N700,000 of the redesigned notes being sold for N1m at a party.

While hailing the country as the best ever, the 30-year-old media personality blamed the scarcity of naira notes as well as other unwholesome practices on corrupt individuals manning those sectors.

”Nigeria is a beautiful country. It’s the best country ever, I promise you. We just have corrupt people handling the sectors that serve human purposes. Every sector is just corrupt,” he began.
