A Federal High Court in Abuja has barred politician and online publisher, Omoyele Sowore from further making statements that are detrimental to the peace and security of the country.
Justice Mohammed Umar, in a ruling on Tuesday, threatened to revoke the bail granted Sowore’ should he ever make such statements.
Justice Umar held that since there was evidence that Sowore was a presidential candidate in the country before and having also earlier been granted bail by the court, with his international passport still being held by the court, he was entitled to be granted bail on self recognition.
The ruling was on a bail application argued by his lawyer, Marshall Abubakar, shortly after Sowore was arraigned on a five-count charge, in which he is accused of defaming President Bola Tinubu by refering to him as a criminal in his posts on X and Facebook.
When the charged, being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS), was read to him, Sowore pleaded not guilty.
In the charge, Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in 2019 is accused of contravening the provisions of the the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024 and the Criminal Code Act by calling President Bola Tinubu a criminal
The two other defendants listed in the charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025 are X Incorp (formerly Twitter) and Meta (Facebook) Incorp.
A friendly guide to choosing the best investment app in Nigeria and how the Credit DirectApp helps you grow your money with strong, steady returns.
We are living in a time where keeping money in one place is no longer enough. Prices keep rising, expenses pop up when you least expect them and everyone is trying to figure out how to make their money work harder. More Nigerians are asking the same question: how do I grow what I already have?
The truth is simple. Your money should not sit idle. Whether you are planning for rent, school fees, family responsibilities or a better future, you deserve tools that help your money grow instead of stand still. That is why more people are turning to investment apps.
But here is the catch: not every app can deliver what it promises. Some offer low returns. Some make things too complicated. Some do not have the track record to earn your trust. So, in this guide, we break down the best investment apps in Nigeria today and show why the Credit Direct Mobile App is a strong choice for everyday Nigerians who want steady, real growth.
Why Investment Apps Matter Today
A few years ago, growing your money required a visit to the bank, paperwork, and long processes. Today, all you need is your phone. Investment apps are popular because they are easy, fast and designed for people who want to take control of their financial growth.
But more importantly, they help you take small steps that add up over time. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment to start investing, you can begin with what you have and build consistency.
Still, not all apps are equal. You want one that offers:
• Returns that actually grow your money • Flexibility when life happens • Strong security and regulatory protection • A simple, clean dashboard • Clear information about how your money grows
When these things are missing, users often end up frustrated and confused.
What Makes an Investment App Worth Using?
If you are searching for the best investment app in Nigeria, here are five things to look out for:
1. Interest rates that make sense
Your returns should help you grow, not fall behind. With inflation rising, the best apps offer not just high, but sustainable interest rates that give your money real value over time.
2. Flexibility and control
You should be able to choose when and how to access your funds. An app that completely locks you out without any flexibility may cause more stress than growth.
3. Ease of use
A good app should make things simple. A clear dashboard and easy steps help you stay consistent and in control.
4. Strong security
Your money must be safe. Always look for apps backed by licensed institutions and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
5. Helpful extra features
Some apps go beyond investing by offering transfers, airtime, bill payments and financial tools that make life easier.

Actress Temitope Osoba has celebrated her 40th birthday following her successful battle with cancer.
In an Instagram post accompanied by stunning portraits, the actress reflected on years of fear, pain, uncertainty, and sleepless nights, yet declared herself stronger, softer, wiser, and deeply grateful to still be alive.
She stated that surviving cancer profoundly changed her perspective, teaching her the fragility and value of life while revealing the depth of hope and inner strength she never knew she possessed.
She added that though she carries physical and emotional scars, she now also carries hard-earned lessons, courage, love, and resilience.
She wrote, “Today, I turn 40 — a milestone that once felt so far out of reach. I’ve walked through fear, pain, uncertainty, and nights that felt endless… but I’m still here. Stronger. Softer. Wiser. And incredibly grateful.
“Surviving cancer changed me. It taught me how precious life is, how fragile moments can be, and how powerful hope truly is. I carry the scars, but I also carry the lessons — the courage I never knew I had, the love that held me together, and the quiet strength that kept whispering, ‘keep going.’
“So today, I celebrate life in a way I never have before. I celebrate breath, sunrise, second chances, and the beauty of simply being alive. Turning 40 isn’t just a birthday for me… It’s a victory, a blessing, and a reminder that miracles happen.
“Here’s to healing, to growth, to joy, and to every new chapter ahead. Happy 40th birthday to me — a survivor, a fighter, and a living testimony.”
Osoba had previously disclosed that at age 38, doctors told her the medications required for her treatment would prevent conception for at least five years.
She said the news left her devastated as it pushed potential motherhood into her mid-40s.
There was a heavy presence of security operatives on Tuesday at the Adolak Event Centre, Osogbo, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insisted on holding its 2026 Osun State governorship primary.
This comes despite the declaration by the state chapter, led by chairman Sunday Bisi, that the earlier scheduled December 2, 2025 primary could not hold due to the lingering national leadership crisis.
Bisi had also hinted that Governor Ademola Adeleke might not be interested in seeking the party’s ticket under the current situation.
However, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilous Shan, maintained that the primary must proceed as planned.
At the venue, security was tight, with personnel from the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) stationed around the premises.
The party’s primary committee, chaired by Mr. Humphery Abba, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were also present.
Screening of delegates from the 30 local government areas of Osun State had been concluded at the time of filing this report.
A member of the committee confirmed that 957 out of 990 delegates had been accredited.
He added that two aspirants: Senator Ademola Adeleke and Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola were initially in the race, but Adeleke has since withdrawn from the party.
The House of Representatives will on Wednesday and Thursday vote on the Constitution amendment bills currently before it, as part of its commitment to conclude the ongoing constitution review process before the end of 2025.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu announced this during plenary on Tuesday, urging members to prepare and fully participate in the voting sessions.
Kalu, who also chairs the Constitution Review Committee, said the exercise marks a major step toward finalising the reforms.
The Nation gathered that the Senate and the House have already reached agreement on about 44 out of more than 60 proposals considered during the zonal public hearings.
Key bills slated for consideration include special seats for women, state police, state creation, indigeneship, electoral reforms and several others.
The immediate past Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Prince Paul Ikonne, has accused Governor Alex Otti of turning Aba markets into centers of intimidation, extortion, and unchecked harassment.
He expressed concerns over alleged untold hardship traders in Ariaria and other major markets in Aba are currently facing in the hands of government-backed tax collectors.
Ikonne, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Ujo Justice in Abuja, alleged that the Governor’s appointees have weaponized taxation, turning a lawful civic responsibility into a brutal tool of oppression.
He recalled how Otti, during campaigns, criticised the ₦18,000 levy imposed by the former administration as “too high” and promised drastic reduction.
He said it was shocking the same Governor inflated the levy to an outrageous ₦36,000, pushing thousands of struggling traders into deeper economic misery.
Ikonne lamented that traders who can barely afford their daily survival are now confronted with an impossible choice: pay the inflated levy or lose their only source of livelihood.
According to reports from the markets, “government enforcers now move under the cover of night to seal shops of traders who have not paid the new high levy. By morning, affected traders are forced to either pay or face even harsher consequences. Those who attempt to unseal their shops by themselves are met with coercion, assault, and brutalization from a combined force of government-recruited thugs, police, and even naval personnel. In many cases, traders are re-arrested, their shops re-sealed, and they are forced to pay as much as ₦45,000.
“This is not governance; this is tyranny,” Ikonne declared.
The APC Chieftain added: “How can a Governor who receives over N30 billion in monthly federal allocation turn around to strangulate ordinary traders struggling to feed their families? What exactly does Governor Otti want from the meager earnings of the common man?”
He emphasised that while tax policies must be humane, fair, and considerate of the prevailing economic difficulties faced by citizens. When taxation becomes a political weapon—arbitrary, excessive, and enforced with violence—it becomes unbearable and unacceptable.
Ikonne further argued: “ I am worried that the present Abia state government has normalized the sealing of shops, properties, indiscriminate arrests, court summons, and humiliating treatment of Abians whose only crime is their inability to meet oppressive and inflated levies”.
“The rate of molestation and intimidation by agents of this government is alarming,” he stated. “No democratic society should subject its citizens to such cruelty. Governor Otti must remember that leadership is about service, not punishment.”
He called on the people and all well-meaning Nigerians to stand firm against what he described as a worsening pattern of anti-people policies, while he urged Otti to immediately halt the nocturnal sealing of shops, withdraw security operatives from markets, and review the draconian levies imposed on traders.
Ikonne reminded the Governor that was not licensed to impoverish, intimidate, or silence traders but an opportunity to ease burdens and improve their welfare.
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has cautioned northern governors against supporting the creation of state police, insisting the move will undermine national security and put Nigerians at greater risk.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by its national publicity secretary, Dr. Sani Dawop, the party dismissed the push for state policing as a false narrative being promoted as a solution to the country’s worsening insecurity.
“This position is misguided, dangerous, and a direct threat to national stability in the absence of an agreed constitutional framework to regulate these state policing outfits,” the statement read. “Let’s not put the cart before the horse. Weakening the federal security architecture and empowering sub-national political actors with armed police formations will not enhance public safety.”
The ADP further described the advocacy for state police as “a carefully packaged scam,” alleging that its promoters know fully well that the real beneficiaries would not be ordinary citizens but political elites who, according to the party, have repeatedly failed when entrusted with authority.
It said, “For years, state governments – especially across the North – have mismanaged their constitutional responsibilities while insecurity exploded under their watch. More worrying is their consistent abuse of political power as showcased in the conduct of so-called local government elections.
“This show of shame is not restricted to the north but the entire political machinery where governors willy-nilly declare their parties the winners of all positions, thereby reducing grassroots democracy to an embarrassing ritual.
“To now place weapons, command structures, and coercive authority in the hands of these same political actors is to invite state-sponsored terrorism, intimidation, expanded corruption, and heightened inter-ethnic cum intra-state tensions. This proposal does not
decentralise security, it only politicizes force and risks turning Nigerian states into fragmented enclaves controlled by partisan security militias.
“Nigerians are aware that most, if not all States presently have one security outfit or the other established by State Laws without meaningful results to show for it.
“The ADP warns that once State Police becomes law without the necessary consultations and constitutional framework, the consequences will be swift and severe. Political opponents will be targeted, communities will face biased policing, ethnic and religious divisions will deepen, banditry and terrorism may mutate into state-enabled violence and the Federal Republic of Nigeria will face unprecedented institutional threats.
It said what Nigeria needs is real security overhaul, not political opportunism disguised as decentralization and called for an all-encompassing national security conference to discuss the modalities, ways and means of State Policing amongst other national security concerns.
He said, “We must strengthen all government law-enforcement agencies, invest in intelligence, enhance inter-agency collaboration, and enforce accountability at all levels of government.
“Private guard duties can be reformed to perform most of the functions carried out by state security agencies to build greater confidence in the citizens. No Governor who has turned local administration into personal fiefdom can be trusted with a police force without necessary reforms.
“The ADP enjoins all patriotic Nigerians, civil society organizations, labour unions, and traditional institutions to reject this dangerous proposal and demand genuine solutions that prioritise safety over politics, unity over fragmentation, and national interest over personal ambition. Nigeria must not sleepwalk into constitutional chaos. We must all rise up to resist this scam, less we fall into a big ditch that will consume all of us.”
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is set to impact the Premier League significantly, with 40 players across 17 clubs expected to depart for the month-long tournament scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.

Top contenders for this year’s competition include Morocco, Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Nigeria, and defending champions Ivory Coast.
Among Premier League clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leeds United are the only teams unaffected. Meanwhile, Sunderland and Wolves face the biggest losses, each sending multiple players to the tournament.

An engineer, Kolawole Adepoju, has formally launched the Kolawole Adepoju Dream Foundation.
Its goal is to improve the lives of the needy through initiatives in education, health, and community development.
The Foundation, unveiled on November 30, in Lagos, attracted friends, supporters and professionals who pledged to partner with the Foundation in its mission to assist disadvantaged groups.
Adepoju said the Foundation was established to bridge the gap between the privileged and the underprivileged, noting that genuine impact does not require great wealth.
“It is not necessarily true that one has to be rich to help others,” he said, stressing that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
“We live in a world where there’s a big divide between the have and the have-not, and the gap is getting wider. It is important for those who are blessed to reach out to those in need.”
Adepoju stated that the Foundation will focus on adopting schools, offering scholarships to indigent students, and supporting health and community-based interventions.
“There are many brilliant students who lack opportunities. As we adopt schools, we will identify students we can support to pursue their dreams without hindrance,” he said.
The Foundation’s Board is made up of technocrats including Seyi Adefemi, Lekan Onipede, Olawale Adepoju, Kenneth Akan and Kazeem Adeoye.
Adepoju explained that he had been funding the Foundation for years, but decided to formally launch it to attract more partners and expand its impact.
He called on individuals and corporate organisations to collaborate with the Foundation to help address societal needs.
The launch also doubled as a fundraising event.
Guests and speakers commended the initiative and pledged support for the Foundation’s programmes.
