  • How to build a successful marriage, by Michelle Obama

How to build a successful marriage, by Michelle Obama

Wife of the former US President Michelle Obama has stated her world revolves around her husband Barack Obama

The 58 year old and best selling author of “Becoming” said that she has been constantly asked by young ones to give her two cents on marriage

Giving her advice, she said young ones should be able to envision a future they need with their partners.

She said: “As an adult, I’ve lived in a number of places, but as far as I’m concerned, I’ve only ever had one real home. My home is my family. My home is Barack.

“But here’s the thing—our marriage has never been perfectly 50-50. One of us is always needing more or giving more. We have to be willing to listen to each other, honestly and without defensiveness. Only then, can we evolve together.

“Over the years, a lot of young people have asked me about marriage. And my response usually goes something like this: You have to prepare yourself for long stretches of discord and discomfort. You have to learn how to make real compromises in the way you’ve lived as an individual. Glamorizing a relationship while you’re dating will lead you straight to difficulty once you’re married. You can’t paper over problems when you’re living with someone day in and day out.

“Now I want to hear from you. What advice would you share about marriage or relationships? #TheLightWeCarry”

He said: “The Governor wanted to be here himself but today is the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) rally in Ebonyi State. The rally is within his zone and he is the Chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in the South-East, so there was no way he could have stayed away from it.

“But he said I should come to represent him. His Excellency is super excited with the award because it hits to the point of his dogged fight against insecurity in Imo State, which has worked and today, Imo State is relatively safe.

“When people appreciate sacrifices made in restoring peace in Imo State, then the Governor too will be happy. When you appreciate somebody for what he has done, he will do more.

“He said I should thank CRAN, for not only watching and reporting what he had been doing in Imo state, and is still doing, but for appreciating it. “Civil servants in Imo State had never been promoted in the past 10 years because of the enormous amount of money involved, but just yesterday (Wednesday) the governor approved the promotion of all civil servants in Imo State across board.
“This is happening now because there is peace in Imo State and the governor can now focus on other important things.”
