  • Dj Spinall, Zoro surprise lucky fan in Owerri

    MTN Pulse House Invasion surprised a lucky fan in Owerri, Imo State, Aguoha Grace Favour, by throwing her a party.

    Her day went from 0 to 100 when African Dj of the year 2019, Sodamola Oluseye ‘DJ Spinall’ Desmond, and music star, Owoh Chimaobi ‘Zoro’  Chrismathner surprised her by arriving unannounced with an entourage befitting of royalty, while cheers from neighbors, friends and bystanders filled the air.

    Afterwards, the celebrities shocked Grace with an out-of-this-world party and swiftly, the space was redecorated into a disco-themed house party.

    When the initial shock had worn off, she got right into taking photos to capture the moment, taking part in some multitasking by inviting more friends to join the party. The party kicked off and everyone had a fun and entertaining evening. The highlight was when DJ Spinall changed the game with his amazing mix.

    She also got a framed photo autographed by DJ Spinall, Zoro and the MTN Pulse team. MTN Pulse is an empowerment and fun-dispensing avenue for the young people.

  • Abbeyyte eulogises women in new single, All I Want

    ARTISTE and entrepreneur , Omokaro Abiodun Ezekiel also known as Abbeyyte has dedicated his new single, ‘All I Want’ to women.

    Produced by Meshe, the mid-tempo song is set to be officially released on December 12 on digital media for streaming and download.

    According to Abbeyyte, “’All I want’ is a song more about peace, love, happiness, grace, success, knowledge and fulfillment. It’s direction relates to the women in every man’s life. This is the song dedicated to all the good, beautiful, inspiring, strong and powerful women who are homemakers and home keepers. It’s a song of appreciation, recognition and affection.”

    Abbeyyte graduated from Igbenedion University, Okada with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. The singer who also has interests in hospitality and tech, set up Abbeyyte Studio in Surulere, Lagos.

    His latest song is a precursor to an EP which he plans to drop in 2020.

    “I’m looking to drop a body of work,” he said.

    “’All I Want’ is just a teaser of something to come. I’m eager to share a complete project with lovers of good music in Nigeria and beyond.”

  • Eight contestants for ‘People’s Hero’ finals

    EIGHT contestants are set to compete in the People’s Hero TV show for a chance to win the grand prize of seven million naira and bragging right to be called ‘The People’s Hero.’

    The show, an initiative of Hero Lager Beer, and produced by MTV Base, celebrates Igbo culture through singing, dancing, spoken word and acting.

    Last week, groups were tasked to perform the Igbanku Nwanyi, the Igbo Traditional Wedding.

    The night ended on a very emotional note as twelve contestants were eliminated from the show. The show anchor, Nedu, had announced that only one of the five groups will make it to the final, and while addressing the tensed audience and contestants, he declared Team Ofuobi as the only group heading to the final.

    Admonishing the evicted contestants, one of the judges, Illbliss, said the contestants have been placed on a huge platform by participating in the TV show and urged them not to drop from the pedestal. He said, while they were selected as raw talents from the auditions, they have become refined to shine to the world. He advised them to look for opportunities to show the world what they have learnt on the show.

    According to the Marketing Director International Breweries Plc, Tolulope Adedeji, the show is to create a platform for the youths to express their talents to the world and to promote the beautiful culture and traditions of the South-East of Nigeria.

    “This has been achieved,” she said.

    Bada Akintunde Johnson, the Country Manager of Viacom International Media Networks Africa, producer of the show, congratulated the finalists and commended the evictees for coming that far in the show describing them as Hero-es in their own rights.

    The winner will also get a whopping sum of N7 million while the first and second runners up will win the sums of N2 million and N1 million respectively.

  • Blaqbonez, Ycee to host Chocolate City party tomorrow

    FAST-RISING rapper, Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez is set to headline the end-of-year event of record label, Chocolate City – Barbeque In The Park.

    The event, tagged ‘The Blaqbonez Rave,’  is scheduled to hold on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    While the day time activities will start at 12 pm, the concert begins by 7 pm.

    It will be the first time that Blaqbonez, who is signed to 100 Crowns, a hip-hop label imprint of Warner Music Group African partner, Chocolate City, will be headlining an event.

    Other artistes billed to perform at the event include Ycee, Black Magic, Oxlade, Dremo and his label mate CKay.

    The ‘Barbeque In The Park’ event holds every quarter of the year with the objective to bring youths together and to also create an avenue for families to have a day out together. This edition will feature activities such as games, dancing competition, fill-in-the-basket, untie and knot, bouncy castles for the kids to engage, and games such as FIFA 20, WHOT, Ludo and Chess for the young champs to prove their worth.

    TWO days ago, YouTube released what it called ‘YouTube Rewind’, which celebrates the biggest moments on the global platform in 2019.

    The top trending videos in Nigeria for 2019 reflect the nation’s love for entertainment and sport.

    The top three trending videos in Nigeria are Commander by Mark Angel Comedy, Aiyetoro Episode 1 by SCENEONE TV and UEFA Champions League | Liverpool vs Barcelona | Highlights by Supersport.

    Beyond the affinity for entertainment and sports, the 2019 list also revealed that Nigerians are turning to YouTube to keep up with trending news stories. The BBC Africa Documentary – Sex for Grades undercover  and Ynaija’s interview with celebrity photographer, Busola Dakolo made it as top trending videos.

    YouTube also released the list of top trending music videos for the year. Topping the list is the official video of Zlatan and Burna Boy – Killin Dem. The official Blow My Mind music video by Davido featuring Chris Brown, and Rudeboys’ Reason With Me official video follow on the list.

    The top trending videos on YouTube for 2019 are based on views, shares, comments, likes and more. YouTube Rewind brings together the biggest viral videos featuring today’s biggest YouTube stars, mainstream and current affairs personalities.

  • ‘Seven and a Half Dates’ makes Netflix debut

    AFTER a successful premiere in major Nigerian cinemas, ‘Seven and A Half Dates’ is set to make it to Netflix on Friday, December 13, 2019.

    A Bigsam Media Production, ‘Seven and a Half Dates’ follows the life of a young, hardworking lady, Bisola, who is engrossed in her passion for her career and finds herself on a seemingly unending quest for love.  Her father, Mr. Gomez, comes to the rescue and inspired by the game of chess, sets Bisola up on ten different dates which he hopes one of them yields a good prospect.

    The movie parades an array of stars such as Jim Iyke, Sola Sobowale, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Ken Erics, Akin Lewis, Toyin Abraham, Faithia Williams, Frank Donga, McLively, Ali Nuhu, Bayray McNwizu, Roxy Antak, Chris Iheuwa and others.

    The movie is directed by Biodun Stephens, produced by Toyin Abraham and executive produced by Samuel ‘Bigsam’ Olatunji.

    Speaking on the debut on Netflix, Bigsam said he is happy the world is finally getting the opportunity to see the magic he and his team made.

    “’Seven and a Half Date’ was a passion project when we produced it,” he said.

    “We wanted to make a movie people would be excited about and we did. The movie is number 14 on the box office chart of 2018 among 100s of movies, number 33 on all-time Nollywood movie releases in Nigeria so far and one of the most talked about movies on 2018.

    People loved it and the demand to put it on platform where it can be more accessible to people in different parts of the world has been rife, we are glad to be finally meeting the demand.”

    Speaking on the development, Jim Iyke said he found it irresistible to act in the movie.

    “I just couldn’t afford not to be part of this movie,” he said.

    “The cast members are incredibly talented. I always choose my script very carefully and when I got the script for Seven and a Half Dates, I just couldn’t turn my back on it and I must say, the script compelled me back into acting.”

  • Expert urges youths to take advantage of digital economy

    SOCIAL media expert and public relations consultant, Akinwunmi Damilola Michael, has revealed how social media has changed a lot of lives in the society.

    In a recent interview, the OAU graduate of Materials Engineering, said that social media has brought him close to relevant people in the society and he takes pride in the positive usage of it.

    “I started my career in Dockthor Media, a self-owned business,” said Michael who hails from Ekiti.

    He said he has had opportunities to work with personalities like Chioma Okere, DJ Baddo, LAX, amongst others.

    The 24-year-old, however, challenged other Nigerian youths to expose themselves to the opportunities social media present and internet at large.

    “It saddens me when people of my age tell me they don’t have jobs. We run a digital economy. Already that presents to you opportunities from almost every part of the world. How come you still say you don’t have a job as a graduate?

    “To tell you the truth, people are always surprised when I tell them the many things I do. Aside from freelancing for notable platforms like Fiverr and Upwork, I also do product photography and photo editing.

    “All you need to do is just to expose yourself into these opportunities and key into it.”

  • Muyiwa Frank releases premiere EP, G.I.R.L.S

    RISING Alternative-Pop/Afrobeat singer, Muyiwa Frank has released his debut EP titled G.I.R.L.S, an acronym for ‘Getting Intimate Requires Love Songs’.

    The work which was produced by Ransom Beatz and Chilling Cat, G.I.R.L.S was inspired by life experiences and fantasies. It encapsulates the devotedness to one’s love interest as well as the sacrifices, promises, appreciation and also the problems faced in intimate relationships.

    The four-track EP opens with the singer promising to stick to his amour in “Irreplaceable”, pledging to sacrifice anything for her love in “Zombie”, and reassuring her of his dedication to keeping her happy in “Taking Over Me” and “So Into You”.
