  • BBTitans: Ipeleng secures spot in finale as Biggie unpairs last 12 housemates

BBTitans: Ipeleng secures spot in finale as Biggie unpairs last 12 housemates

As the ongoing reality TV show, BBTitans enters week eight, Biggie has unpaired the last 12 housemates.

After six weeks of being paired – a male and female from two different countries – and playing the game for the sum of over N46 million ($100,000), the show has taken a new dimension.

On Monday, March 6, the show’s progenitor introduced another twist to shake up the BBTitans house situated in Johannesburg, South Africa.

First, Biggie introduced the ultimate Veto game, which secures a spot in the finale for the winner as well as the position of the Head of House.

South African student lawyer and housemate, Ipeleng emerged victorious in the game and became the first housemate of the show to secure a finale ticket.

In the same vein, during the nomination process, Biggie jolted the remaining 12 housemates, who went into the Diary Room as pairs but left as individuals, by instructing them to share with one another what they have learned from their partners. This created a sea of tears and emotions were exposed and several housemates shed tears.

With barely three more weeks to the end of the show, Ipeleng has emerged as one of the luckiest housemates in the house – having enjoyed the Head of House luxury several times. In the first week, she was chosen as the HoH’s partner, in the second week, she won the Heads of House title with her former partner, BlaqBoi and in the eighth week, she won the HoH title again to secure a spot for herself in the finale. She has also won other cash and product prizes during games and other activities.

Other housemates that have won cash prizes include Nigeria’s Marvin, BlaqBoi, and South Africa’s Thabang amongst others.

The BBTitans show is scheduled for wrap up on Sunday, April 2 with a grand finale scheduled to hold in the Randburg area of Johannesburg, South Africa.

    INEC suspends Sokoto REC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Dr. Nura Ali.

  • Alake dismisses Atiku’s, opposition’s bid to discredit poll

Alake dismisses Atiku’s, opposition’s bid to discredit poll

Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Alake, has said the bid to discredit the February 25 presidential election by the opposition was nothing new.

In an interview with the BBC World Service Focus Africa, Alake was asked about the protest march by the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and other party leaders in Abuja.

He said: “It’s within Atiku’s human rights to voice out his misgivings over his loss of the election. We welcome any aggrieved party to take the route of the judiciary. And that is what decent people do in a decent society.

“For Atiku to be protesting and being melodramatic about it, it is also normal. Don’t forget that Atiku who has been contesting for the presidency of this country since 1993, exactly 30 years ago.

“He has contested during every presidential election in Nigeria and he has lost everyone since 1993 and this will not be different.

“This man is within his right to protest as long as it’s peaceful, so well and good.

“However, are his allegations credible? No! The major plank of their complaint is that INEC did not upload the results to the server in real-time.

“That is the major plank of their incredulous allegations, but that is not also supported by law.

“I’m taken aback that even otherwise the enlightened and educated people are not even analysing those issues. The law does not mandate INEC, that’s the electoral body, the umpire, to upload results. It’s not a compulsion, it’s an option.

“Uploading or not uploading does not affect the validity of the results.

“Mind you, listen very carefully, once results are declared at the various polling centres, the voting is counted, and the ballot is counted in the presence of all the voters and all the electoral officers.

“Figures are tallied, winners are announced and all the agents of all the parties sign the result sheets.

“Uploading them is immaterial because it does not affect the validity and credibility of the result that has been announced publicly at the polling station.

“So, how that has become something of a major issue is that these people didn’t read the Electoral Act. It is not correct in law.

“Noncompliance is applicable if you have only one option but where you have two options, how can laws of noncompliance now be brought up? It cannot.

“We are just going around in the same circle. I’m telling you that since it is not the only option available to INEC, then you cannot stand up in court.

“They are just using all this propaganda and because it suits the narrative of some people, they swallow it through claim and sinker.

“And let me tell you, there is no federal election except that involving former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, from 1960 till date, that was not discredited in Nigeria, none.

“I’m saying that go and look at the record, there is no presidential election or federal election in Nigeria since 1960 till date that has not been or was not discredited. So, what is the difference with this one, none?

“Look, let us also look at this scenario. This is the best election, the freest since 1999. If Bola Tinubu were to rig the election, wouldn’t he rig it in his home state? Or the President in his home or other governors? Come on.

“Where the Labour Party and PDP won, the election was okay. So, where they lost, there were irregularities. What kind of illogic is that?”
