    INEC cancels four units results in Kwara

    The Independent Electoral Commisssion (INEC) in Kwara State has cancelled election results in four polling units for alleged violence, ballot box snachting and over voting.

    The polling booths are inTsaragi, Edu local government, Oke- Ero local government and Asa local government results.

    The cancellation affected the presidential and senatorial elections.

    Collation Officer for Oke-Ero council, Prof Rhoda Odunwoye said this at collation centre, while presenting the presidential and Kwara south senatorial district results.
    Prof Oduwoye said Marafa ward unit 05 was cancelled due to over voting.

    Lateef Ibrahim said the result was cancelled over a case of over voting .
    In his remark the stste Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Malam Attahiru Madami, said the Tsaragi Polling Unit 10 result was also cancelled following a case of ballot box snatching by hoodlums.

    He said the cancellation was in line with the rules guiding the conduct of the elections.

    Madami said said out of 2,887 polling units in Kwara only one polling unit had its ballot boxes snatched.

    Member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara (APC) has won reelection into the Green Chambers.

    Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Dr Nurudeen Bello made the anouncement at the collation centre in Omu Aran on Sunday.

    Declaring the official result, Bello said out of the 59075 accredited Voters, the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 22, 140, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled 19,092.

    The Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled a total of 9331.

    Jerry Gana’s son wins Niger Reps seat

    The son of former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, Joshua, has won the Lavun/Mokwa/Edati federal constituency.

    He defeated the current seat holder Hon Abdullahi Usman Gbatamangi.

    Gana, who is the PDP candidate, defeated the incumbent APC candidate with 7,939 votes.

    Gana got 47,942 votes while Gbatamangi got 40,002 votes.

    Niger PDP governorship candidate, Hon Isah Liman Kantigi, also delivered his local government area, Edati local government to the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

    The PDP in Edati local government area got 14,779 while APC secured 10,508 with the Labour Party getting 93 and NNPP 263 votes.

    Hon Sekav Iortyom of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has won the Buruku federal Constituency seat in Benue State.

    The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) announced Iortyom polled 20,076 votes to beat his close rival Terka Agba of Labour Party(LP) who garnered 15,639 votes .

    PDP candidate came sixth.

    Buruku is within Jemgba Geo ,
    political bloc where the National Chairman of PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, hails from.

    Many had believed his influence may swing votes in favour of PDP.

    But the All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu won massively in the area .

    Ex-Information Commissioner wins Ondo Reps seat

    A former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Ondo State, Hon Donald Ojogo, has won the Ilaje / Ese-Odo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

    He defeated incumbent Hon Kolade Akinjo, who was seeking a third term in the National Assembly.

    Ojogo garnered 26, 306 votes while Akinjo had 22,390.

    Senate’s spokesman Bashiru loses to PDP in Osun

    Senate spokesperson Ajibola Bashiru, who contested on the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC), has lost his Osun Central seat to candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olubiyi Fadeyi.

    The result was announced at Coalition Center in Olohunkoro area in Osogbo capital of Osun.

    Bashiru, who polled 117,609 votes, lost to Fadeyi who garnered 134,229.

    Abdulsalam’s Nephew loses to PDP in Niger

    The Nephew of former Head of State and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Chachanga Federal Constituency, Ado Abdulsalam Abubakar has lost the Chachanga federal constituency election to his Peoples Democratic Party’s opponent, Abubakar Abdul Buba.

    Ado lost to Buba with a margin of 14,406 votes.

    Announcing the results at the Collation Center in the Education Resource Center, the Returning Officer, Professor Mercy Modupe Adeyeye declared Buba the winner.

    Abubakar got 19,282 votes while the PDP candidate, Abubakar Abdul Buba secured 35,688 votes.

    Man shot dead at Ondo collation centre

    A supporter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Akinlabi Akinnaso has been shot dead at a Ward Collation centre in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

    Akinnaso, popularly known as “Oluomo”, was killed on Sunday by a security personnel at the INEC Collation Centre, Owena Ayetoro Idanre.

    Witnesses said the deceased was involved in a scuffle with the armed personnel shortly before winner of the House of Representatives election, Hon. Festus Akingbaso Fessywest, was presented with the election result sheet.

    Another source said he was shot after he refused warning from the security personnel not to disrupt the collation exercise.

    His corpse has been deposited in the mortuary of the General Hospital, Idanre.

    Ondo Police spokesman, Funmilayo Odunlami, said she was yet to get details of the incident.

    APC’s Kalu wins Bende Federal Reps seat

    Spokesman of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu (APC, Abia) has won the election for the Bende Federal Constituency, defeating nine others with a wide margin.

    According to the results announced by Returning Officer, Adindu Chidinma, Kalu pulled a total vote ot 10,020 to defeat the his closest rival and Labour Party(LP) candidate, Chinasa Frank who scored 6,818 votes.

    The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and former member of the House, Nnenna, Elendu-Ukeje came third with 3,930 votes.

    Kalu described the outcome of the election as a moment of happiness, saying “this victory is sweet because it came with a lot of hard work and confrontation between those outside and some forces within the party.

    He said: “But in all of this God has seen the sincerity of our hearts to serve the people of Bende with transparency, honesty, in the spirit of accountability and his name has been glorified.

    “I thank everyone who played one role or the other in making this come to pass; my team of staff, campaign council, my party APC, my fathers in politics, friends and well-wishers. May God grant you all the desires of your hearts

    “To my dear Bende Constituents, this promises to be another tenure of hard work, dedication and people centered representation”.
