Kollington fires back at K1: “I tried to call over your mother’s death, you ignored me”

Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji Kollington, has responded to claims by King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 that he failed to offer condolences following the passing of Kwam1’s mother.

K1 had earlier recounted how he supported Kollington during his own mother’s death, accusing Kollington of not returning the favour.

However, speaking in a recent interview on Agbaletu TV, Kollington vehemently denied the allegations, revealing that he had made several attempts to reach out to Kwam1 via phone, but his calls were neither answered nor returned.

Kollington also took a swipe at K1’s character, suggesting that his new title, “Olori Omoba,” had fueled his arrogance.

The Fuji legend further asserted his dominance in the genre, stating that K1 would have to surpass him before he could claim the top spot.

He said: “When Wasiu Ayinde’s mum died, I called him severally. He didn’t pick up, nor did he return the calls. Even on New Year’s Day, I called, and he didn’t pick up. I was like, what’s wrong with this boy? So, I let him be. He can’t tell me he was busy. What was he busy doing? If it is because he was crowned the ‘Olori omoba’, that position is for his family at Ijebu, not for me. Does he want to become God? I am the leader of all the Fuji singers. He can never be the leader when I am still alive. For me to have survived the sickness that happened to me recently, it is only God that can kpai me”.

Tolanibaj to artists: Transition into business when your music becomes outdated

Reality TV star and Disc Jockey, Tolanibaj, has advised artists to embrace evolution by shifting into business ventures or becoming music executives once their music style starts to feel outdated.

In a recent video, Tolanibaj emphasised that veteran artists should leverage their legacy to mentor and support emerging talents instead of releasing subpar music that could tarnish their reputation.

She cited Don Jazzy and Olamide as good examples of stars who have successfully transitioned, urging artists to recognise the right time to step aside and protect the integrity of their brand.

Tolanibaj said, “Why do Nigerian artists not know when to evolve or transition into business. If your sound no longer resonates with your fans or audience or is outdated, go into business. If you have built an amazing legacy, why do you constantly allow disrespect by being compared to the new generation of artists? What’s wrong with becoming a music executive where you shine light on new generation artists and become a boss? Don Jazzy and Olamide are perfect examples of what OG artists need to embody. Stop allowing yourself to be disrespected. A lot of artists are on this table. There’s no shame in retiring. Stop dropping nonsense music to water down your brand, especially if your catalogue in the past is A1”.

  • Five common habits that can empty your pocket

Five common habits that can empty your pocket

In Nigeria’s tough economic climate, managing finances wisely is key to survival. Yet, many daily habits can quietly undermine financial stability.

This article sheds light on five common financial pitfalls Nigerians should be mindful of to protect their finances.

From the hidden costs of frequent data purchases to the strain of emotional spending, ride-hailing addiction, unused subscriptions, and the pressure of maintaining social appearances, these habits can significantly impact your financial health.

Here are five habits that could be draining your wallet:

    1. Over-reliance on Ride-hailing Services: Frequent use of services like Bolt or Uber can be expensive. A ₦3,000 trip here, a ₦5,000 ride there, and by the end of the week, you’ve spent more than your weekly feeding budget on rides alone. Exploring alternatives like public transport, carpooling, or walking short distances can help reduce transportation costs.

    2. Unused Subscriptions: Subscribing to multiple services like Netflix, Spotify, Apple Music, or fitness apps without using them can result in unnecessary monthly deductions. Take a moment to review your subscriptions and cancel what you don’t use. Sharing accounts with friends or family can also help split the costs.

    3. Buying Things to Fit In: Social pressure and social media influence can lead people to purchase items or experiences they can’t afford, simply to keep up appearances. It’s essential to prioritize needs over wants and admire without necessarily acquiring. Ask yourself: is this spending for you, or for others?

    4. Emotional Spending on Food and Drinks: Using food delivery apps, restaurants, or street food as a coping mechanism for emotions can lead to significant expenses. Meal prepping, cooking, or eating at home can help reduce costs. Try to identify your emotional triggers and find healthier ways to cope.

    5. Frequent Purchases of Small Data Bundles: Buying ₦500 data bundles every few days may seem insignificant, but it adds up to ₦7,500 per month. Opting for monthly data plans or home Wi-Fi could be more cost-effective. Consider your data needs and explore options that can save you money in the long run.

By understanding and addressing these financial drains, Nigerians can take proactive steps to protect their hard-earned money and build a more secure financial future.
