Graduating pupils of Ladela Secondary School, Abuja, have been told to shun the use of social media in order be able to focus on achieving their goals.
Guest speaker at the graduation ceremony, Mrs Fidelia Oyeteko, gave the advice on Saturday in Abuja.
Speaking on the theme, “Reinventing myself, charting the future,” Mrs Oyeteko said, excessive use of social media by pupils is capable of derailing their growth academically and impact negatively in their life’s ambition.
She urged the graduating pupils to set goals that are achievable and remain committed to them.

She said: “The future belongs to those who prepare for it. The future you want is in your hands and you decide the type of future you want. Do not leave your future to chance; you must be deliberately and intentional about the decisions you make.
“If you want to reinvent yourself then step out of your comfort zone and take calculated risks.
“Be committed, make up your mind on what you want to achieve and every day you go back to it or once in a while go through it. Even if you are missing your way when you read it, it re-fires you. Get a coach or a mentor that you are accountable to.”
Executive Director of Ladela Schools, Mrs Angela Ajala enjoined the students to make their dreams come true by making career choices that align with their future plans.
