No Fewer than 19 persons have been killed in Katsina and Kaduna as gunmen invaded communities in both states.
Police in Katsina confirmed yesterday that bandits attacked two locations in Batsari council, killing 11 persons and injuring 13 others.
It was also confirmed that the gunmen set houses ablaze in the attack, which took place on Tuesday in Katoge and Yanturaku quarters.
In Kaduna, the assailants invaded two villages, Kibori and Atagjeh in Zangon Kataf council, killing eight persons on Monday, police said.
Katsina police spokesman Gambo Isah told journalists that the assailants came in large numbers, shooting intermittently.
He said, “Yesterday (Tuesday) at about 1915hrs, bandits in their numbers, shooting with AK-47 rifles, attacked Katoge and Yanturaku quarters of Batsari Local Government Area, murdered 11 and injured 13 persons.”

Reinforcements have been sent to the area, it was said.
A community leader said yesterday that Kibori, Asha Awuce, communities were attacked on Monday evening.
He said the gunmen “invaded the communities and started shooting intermittently, leading to the killing of about five persons while many others were injured.
“Houses were razed and foodstuff destroyed by the attackers.
“At Atagjeh village, the bandits on Tuesday night killed three persons while three others sustained various degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment in hospital.
“The attacks have become a routine by suspected Fulani militias.”
Police spokesman Mohammed Jalige in a statement yesterday evening said, “On 9th November, 2021 at about 1945hrs the Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command Mudassiru Abdullahi while on tour of duty along Kaduna-Abuja Road intercepted a large group of marauding armed bandits on a heinous mission around Alheri Camp.
“The CP and his officers and men chased the bandits into the forest with tactical firepower as a result of which they escaped into the forest.”
“He urged officers manning various points along the highway to be ruthless on the bandits.”
