    I created most of jokes Nigerian comedians crack, says Alibaba

    Veteran comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Alibaba, has taken credit for most of the jokes Nigerian comedians crack and the skit makers create. 

    The ‘King of comedy’ said some comedians still feel he hasn’t done anything for the industry despite recycling his old jokes into brand new ones.

    He spoke in a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast co-hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka, Deity Cole and Husband Material.

    Alibaba said: “Sometimes some people will say I am not helping but 4/5 of the jokes you are telling are mine.

    “There was one guy who called me the other day, very popular skit maker. He pushed one video out. And it’s a joke about… This one happened in Warri when someone wanted to cut somebody’s light and they brought dogs and cutlasses and told the person, ‘When you finish come down.’ I told that joke 1988. And then they turned it into skit.

    “There are several skits circulating that are inspired by my jokes.”

    He advised skit makers and comedians to always give credit to the originators of their content ideas.

    JUST IN: Anambra monarch dies two days before community’s day

    The controversial traditional ruler of Umunya community in Oyi local government area of Anambra state, Chris Onyekwuluje is dead. 

    He was aged 61.

    The monarch, who was coronated 25 years ago, died in Abuja two days ago after a long battle with cancer related issues.

    The president general of the community, Chief Innocent Nwabueze (Oyi of Oyi), described the death as unfortunate and sad.

    He said: “We have to face the reality of life, it’s one of those things. Our monarch has traveled and when he’s coming back we don’t really know, but it’s a very sad situation to us.”

    Another source, who did not want to be mentioned, said: “Though he did most things wrongly in our community, but his death is not a social media thing. Umunya has a procedure of announcing the death of its traditional ruler.”

    Onyekwuluje was conspicuous during the administration of the late former Governor of Anambra state, Chinwoke Mbadinuju.

    He was the contractor that erected the mast in the premises of Anambra Broadcasting Corporation ABS that killed some number of people

    Recently in his community, he was said to have told his people that he would rule them for up to 100 years, the statement that infuriated some of the elders.

    Anambra state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne described his death as a huge loss.

    He commiserated with the people of Umunya over the incident, praying for his soul to find eternal rest in the Almighty. 

    The Eze-Nya I, the Nation gathered, had proposed a Town Union election of his community for December 31.

    According to sources, the monarch’s demise might result to a shift of the poll date by the community, as a mark of honour to him.

    The late monarch, survived assassination attempt in 2015 when the men of the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS) foiled such attempt from some evil men.

    The most controversial moment was when he erected a slaughter house in his community at the back of the house of one influential sons of the area.

    The community fought him to a stand still until the abattoir was forcefully removed, while the rich man returned to his palatial home

    Governor Hyacinth Alia has described George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as the political living encyclopedia of Benue politics.

    Alia stated this at Wannue during the reception to mark Akume’s 70th birthday anniversary and homecoming at Tarka Local Government Area of the state.

    He said God has blessed Akume in several ways especially with the knowledge of Benue politics, adding that he was the maverick of politics in the state.

    He also described Akume as the political lifestyle of Benue politics as he encouraged people to always come to the SGF to study state politics.

    He said Akume has the love of the state at heart, saying that the ex-governir has already paid his dues and deserves all the respect.

    Alia stated: “Today we celebrate a living political encyclopedia. He has paid his dues and deserved all our respects. He is the maverick of our politics.”

    Reacting to the appeal of Bishop Isaac Dugu earlier during his sermon, Governor Alia admitted that the Bishop touched on the core issues that bordered on the development of the state.

    He enjoined all NASS members, state Assembly members, and all stakeholders to join him in supporting the SGF to succeed so that together they would build a better State.

    He noted: “I invite you all to join me to join Sen Akume to take Benue to a greater height. It is all about the State and not about us.

    “For those who want to sow seeds of discord will not succeed for the things that unite us are greater than things the  that seek to divide us, “he said

    In his remarks during the thanksgiving Service, President, Bola Tinubu commended the SGF for his contributions to the country on nation-building.

    Represented by his wife, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, the president said the appointment of Akume as the SGF was a testament to his vast experience.

    In his speech, Akume said the killings in the country have reduced since the assumption of office of President Tinubu. 

    Akume said the federal government was doing everything possible to end insecurity in the country.

    He assured that he would continue to do everything possible to ensure that the state was united for better development.

    He further described the president as a great Nigerian who was at home to everyone and urged Nigerians to love one another.

    He commended all those who have over ten years supported him and those who identified with him at his 70th birthday anniversary and prayed to God to grant them their heart desires.

    Speaking on behalf of National Assembly members, Philip Agnese representing Ado/Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo federal constituency, disclosed that the NASS members did not hate Governor Alia.

    Agbese said that all they expected of the governor was for him to work with them to bring development to the state.

    He said: “We never said you are not doing well. All we asked is that let work together to bring development to the State. You can do better than what are are currently doing if we wake up together. You a Priest, we don’t hate you and not against you”.

    He said Akume was a selfless politician who lived all his life for the people and that his best was yet to come.

     Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Gov Adedapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Ministers, Senators, APC national chairman, Mr. Abdullahi Ganduji, and ambassadors amongst others attended the service.

    Popular rapper, Erhiga Agarivbie, better known as Erigga, has revealed how his father resurfaced in his life after years of neglect.

    He disclosed that his father’s sense of entitlement is more than his involvement when he was a growing young child.

    Erigga said his father was absent during his upbringing but has suddenly shown up with an entitled mentality.

    He claimed that while his father had not been active in his upbringing, he began contacting him and making demands as soon as he achieved success.

    Erigga revealed this in the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna podcast.

    Erigga openly expressed his feelings on this matter, delving into the confusing mixture of resentment, curiosity, and reluctant acceptance that he now grapples with when it comes to his father’s sudden involvement in his life.

    He said: “When you see parents start feeling entitled, it doesn’t make sense because you had many years ahead of me, why didn’t make it before me? People don’t really address this entitlement mentality in Africa.

    “I was facing the street alone. I was involved in too many things that I can’t even say on camera. And I just keep wondering like what if I was shot or arrested? Because most of the people I was with then are either dead or in jail.

But then again, I fell in love with music at a very tender age so I knew where I wanted to be regardless of where I was. Then many years later, I now become Erigga then somebody comes and say, ‘Yo! You’re not taking care of me. You’re not doing this and that.’ And I’m like, ‘Bro, na relations we be because you no father the father wey you suppose father normally. I don father myself alone. And I can’t give you the credit.

    “All my stepbrothers started begging me to forgive our dad, saying he wasn’t also responsible to them. But at the end of the day, they are only having the conversation with me because I am who I am.”

    Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has received a Christmas gift of N2 million after visiting his senior colleague, Kanayo O Kanayo to tender his unreserved apology for criticising him.

    Recall that Uche dragged Kanayo over his statement on the health of comedy actor, John Okafor, commonly known as Mr Ibu some months ago.

    In a widely shared social media video, Uche is seen humbly dropping to his knees upon approaching Kanayo’s office, making a heartfelt apology.

    Adetoun was spotted in a viral video saying that MohBad still wishes to return to the world. 

    The activist, who dubbed herself a prophetess, made a startling revelation, alleging that Mohbad’s spirit sought refuge in a pregnant woman’s body for a comeback, only to be rebuffed by her refusal.

    According to her explanation, MohBad supposedly aimed to reincarnate by merging with her unborn child, but the pregnant woman fled upon rejecting his proposition.

    Ondo state commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Raimi Olayiwola Aminu, has resigned his appointment.

    This is coming less than 24 hours after Lucky Aiyedatiwa was sworn-in as the new Governor of Ondo State following demise of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

    Aminu, in a letter addressed to Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, said his resignation took effect from Thursday, December 28.

    Army confirms arrest of soldier for killing driver in Borno

    The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, has confirmed the arrest of a soldier for allegedly killing a truck driver at a checkpoint along Maiduguri – Dikwa- Gamboru road.

    The incident occured following a misunderstanding between the soldier and the truck driver at the checkpoint.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident, which occurred on Boxing Day, has led to total boycott of the busy border road in protest by commercial drivers leaving many travellers stranded.

    Confirming the arrest on Thursday in a statement, Lt. Col. A.Y. Jingina, the 7 Division Public Relations Officer, said army had commenced investigation after receiving complaint from National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

    “Furthermore, engagement has been established with NURTW towards a peaceful resolution of the incident.

    “The Division has assured both the family of the deceased and the NURTW of its commitment to ensure that justice is served to the family and no stone would be left unturned in this regard.

    “In the Division’s effort towards ensuring that the family of the victim gets justice, the soldier in question has been arrested, and an investigation has commenced.

    “It’s also worthy to mention that the Division does not tolerate any form of unprofessional conduct from any personnel as we operate within the ambit of the law.

    “The Division wishes to once again reassure the members of the general public that we will remain resolute and professional in the joint effort to tackle insecurity in Borno State,” Jingina said.

    Also reacting to the incident, Borno Government through the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, said it was following up the matter to ensure justice was done.

    “The Government is following up this matter, and will take all necessary measures to ensure that the matter is properly investigated and suspects are prosecuted. Anyone who is found guilty will face the full wrath of the law.

    “Meanwhile, the Borno State Government urges the general public and, in particular, members of the Road Transport Workers Union, to maintain patience and decorum while the matter is handled according to the law,” Tar pleaded.

    Senator Ibrahim Geidam, the minister of police affairs, has expressed sympathy to the families, government, and people of Plateau State over the bandits’ Christmas Eve massacre in the state, calling it a tragedy that affects everyone.

    Noting that the heinous conduct was carried out by the nation’s adversaries, the minister stated that President Bola Tinubu has ordered that every effort be made to capture the key suspects and accomplices in this crime against humanity.
