  • BBNaija (S4): Omashola risks possible eviction as coins get stolen

Housemate, Omashola’s chances of getting evicted during the Sunday live show have increased, following loss of his Bet9ja coins.

The ‘Pepper Dem’ housemates were given coins and ‘Biggie’ had stated that the housemate with the least number of coins will be evicted during the live show on Monday.

Omashola, who had 120 coins, was clearly distraught upon discovering that at least 100 coins were stolen from the bunch after the Saturday party.

According to the 38-year-old housemate, he placed the coins in his Bible before the party and could not account for how they got missing.

The Delta-born Omashola poured his aggression on other housemates, urging Biggie to replay the tape and stating that he would not leave the house if evicted.

The other housemates, who were still basking in an after-party high tried to comfort Omashola while he went on about what the show meant to him.

Fans of the show have taken to social media to show support for Omashola, pleading with Biggie not to send him home as the coin loss was not his fault.

Music boss, Don Jazzy tweeted, “you already know why Omashola is not going home tomorrow. Warri no dey carry last. #bbnaija.”

@Tunyere said, “They should return his coin! Now the house is in rampage! Even isilomo is crying  #bbnaija #returnomasholascoin.”

@Rovy said, “Omashola is just eyeing all the housemates. He said they should all pack their bags cuz everyone will be going back to their house tomorrow, they all leaving Biggie’s house. #BBNaija.”

NAN reports that this possible eviction saga comes days after Omashola thrilled fans during his diary session which will be missed if he eventually gets evicted on Sunday. (NAN)

Two housemates Tasha and Thelma to the surprise of fellow housemate and followers engaged in a heated argument on Tuesday.

Their unexpected brawl was over food.

  • BBNaija: Endurance challenge, emotions fly around for second day

Viewers were treated to a mix of emotional outbursts, fight and gruelling endurance challenges by the housemates on Tuesday, the second day of the show.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the show returned on Sunday with 21 housemates and is expected to run for 97 more days.

While Jeff became the first Head of House of this fourth season on Monday evening, Kim Oprah clinched the power card in a game of chance on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Tuesday turned out to be the most eventful day as housemates had an endurance task which required each housemate to hold a ball above his/her head.

They were also asked to keep both arms stretched out as possible without bringing their arms down or resting it in any manner.

Going on for over 40 minutes, the Task had all the male Housemates each holding a ball up high while battling the antics put up by the female Housemates to distract them.

The ladies did a good job of distracting the guys by breaking into songs, chants and utilising the subtle art of seduction to get them to drop the ball.

Omashola and Ike were the first to be disqualified from the Competition because their hands came down too low.

In the end, it was a keen contest between Frodd and Nelson for the position of the ‘last man standing’.

NAN reports that Nelson eventually stood tall with his ball held up high winning the Endurance Challenge.

On completion of the first Task, the gentlemen were asked to move to the Dining Area where they were asked to select a cup of their choice on the table and later reveal the content.

Frodd, Seyi, Omashola, Jeff and Tuoyo were among the lucky few with Bet9ja Coins in their cups. Shortly after, it was time for the ladies to undertake their Task.

Roles were reversed and this time, the ladies were the one holding balls up high while the gentlemen distracted them.

Kimoprah was the first to tap out, followed shortly by Thelma and eventually leaving Isolomo and Ella as the last two women standing.

Ella outlasted Isilomo winning the challenge. Interestingly, the ladies broke the record set by the gentlemen by exceeding the one-hour mark.

Just like the Gentlemen, the ladies filed into the Dining Area to select cups and reveal its content.

NAN reports that Ella, Tacha, Diane and Avalla were among the lucky few who found a Bet9ja coin underneath their selected cup.

Also, food caused a mild Drama in the House for the second time running as Tacha and Thelma got into an altercation over fish.

Trouble began when Tacha dished out food to Thelma without adding fish. This resulted in Thelma confronting Tacha and accusing her of serving her beggarly meals.

Meanwhile, Frodd let the tears flow as he reminisced about what he went through during the audition and having to leave his recuperating mum at home.

Fortunately, he had Mike and Isolomo consoling him with reassuring words. Not too long after, Omashola broke down briefly while talking to Khafi.

NAN reports that housemates will spend the next 97 days in the house, competing for the grand prize worth 60 million Naira.

  • Why we’re supporting BBNaija 2019 – Bet9ja

As the much anticipated Big Brother Naija 2019 reality show kicked off on Sunday, Olufemi Osobajo, Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, Bet9ja, has revealed why the company is supporting the popular show.

“Our sponsorship of Big Brother Naija is to enhance and make participants achieve their dreams of becoming valuable players in the Nigeria entertainment industry,” said Osobajo.

“Our support will influence the winning prizes and help boost the entertainment industry in Nigeria.”

He noted that more importantly, Bet9ja intend to use the Big Brother platform to amplify its “More Than A Bet” campaign of how it is changing lives.

He explained that a lot of people really don’t have a good understanding of what Bet9ja does as a business; they therefore reduce it to gambling. However, the impact of sport betting is huge. Through the “More Than A Bet” campaign, Bet9ja plans to show how it has been empowering Nigerians, especially the youth.

Osobajo said that when the show starts, Nigerians will  get the opportunity to  see clips on how Bet9ja has touched lives across Nigeria through betting.

Bet9ja with its foothold across Nigeria currently employs over 40,000 Nigerians directly and indirectly.

Through the “More than a bet” campaign, the company seeks to highlight just how it is transforming lives, empowering the youth and contributing to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.

  • Court fixes Oct. 16 for mention in suit seeking winding up of BBNaija sponsors

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday, fixed Oct. 16 for further mention in a suit seeking the winding up of the sponsors of the Big Brother Naija Show, Payporte Global System Ltd.

The petition was filed by Vacant Board Ltd.

Justice Ayokunle Faji fixed the date for further mention of the suit, which was earlier fixed for mention on Tuesday.

Mr Ogedi Ogu appeared for the respondent, while Mr Yemi Fajuyitan is counsel for the petitioner.

The case will now continue on the next date.

The petitioner had filed a debt recovery suit against Payporte, before a Lagos High Court in 2015.

The Court had in its judgment delivered on May 27, 2016, awarded the sum of N23.1 million against Payporte, in favour of the petitioner.

The petitioner, however, contends that on Feb. 27, 2017, the respondent made a part payment of N5 million, leaving a balance of N17.1 million which it has failed to liquidate till date, inspite of several demand letters.

It therefore, filed a winding up petition before the Federal High Court on Dec. 29, 2017, asking it to wind up the comoany.

Meanwhile, In its notice of preliminary objection on April 25, the respondent is challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain or even hear the petition

Respondent counsel, Mr Ogedi Ogu contends that the said petition for winding up, failed to comply with the provisions of sections 5 and 6 of the Companies Winding-Up Rules, 2001.

He argues that no summons was filed by the petitioner, issued or sealed in respect of the said petition, adding that the failure rendered the petition null and void.

He said that a failure of the petitioner to file and serve the summons before the commencement of the winding up suit, robes the honourable court of jurisdiction to hear the suit, as same cannot be competently activated in the petition as presently constituted.

Payporte contends that the court lacks jurisdiction to entertain the petitioner’s suit, as same is defective, bad in law, null and void, and an abuse of court process.

It urges that the winding up suit be dismissed, with substantial cost awarded against the petitioner.

  • BBNaija: Nigerians express shock over choice of housemates

Some Nigerians have expressed their shock over the choice of housemates in the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija reality show.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the season kicked off on Sunday with 21 housemates, most of whom some viewers have described as “more foreign than Nigerian.”

Respondents said that it was puzzling how Manchester-based Mike, London police office Khafi and Ike, who said this was his first one in Lagos, made the cut while thousands of Nigerians flooded audition centres in February.

NAN recalls that audition centres across the country were crowded with people struggling to get in by scaling the fence.

Viewers felt it was unfair to have people risk lives to audition and then pick Nigerians in the diaspora.

@Omojuwa said, “I have a problem with everyday Nigerians struggling across the country to audition for this thing, yet it appears they stood no chance from the beginning.

“That should have been made clear to them from the start. Big Brother Phonetics. It appears this is Big Brother Nigeria Diaspora.”

@BabaRoyan tweeted, “Too much handpicking! Connection is the main thing to strive In Nigeria! While The main people who went for d audition wea selected to become #BBNaija NINJAs.”

@Ibidunmary said, “I said it to someone all those people jumping fence, crossing hurdles to make it to the audition none of them is in the house, all these ones are imported.”

@DesmondAyotunde wrote, “I doubt if most of this contestants in the house really participated in the audition.”

Meanwhile, Instagram sensation, SimplyTacha who was the last housemate announced on Sunday, has remained a strong talking point for the viewers as she was recognisable from several audition clips.

@DrOlufumnilayo said, “If truly Simply Tacha is in the house this year, then that’s a smart move by the organisers.
“She is a game winner. I won’t be surprised at all if she makes it to the Top 3. Mark this tweet.”

@Morlimoore tweeted, “The lady has got what it takes to keep attention on her. She has been using that to fuel her hustle. I equally believe she’ll make the top 3, she would keep giving the people what they like to see.”

NAN reports that housemates will spend 99 days in the house, competing for the grand prize worth 60 million Naira.
