  • BBNaija 2019: Nigerians react as MURIC demands ban of BBNaija

Reactions have trailed call of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) on the federal government to immediately ban the popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija.

MURIC, in a statement, attacked the federal government for allowing the BBNaija show to go on.

The statement reads in part: “We are being forcibly dragged to a world of nudity, shamelessness and open promiscuity. Inmates of BBNaija kiss, romance and engage in sex openly. BBNaija is Bohemian, anti-social, crude and immoral. It constitutes a potent danger to every home. BBNaija is Satanic. It is unacceptable.

“Where are our norms and values? Is it part of African culture to engage in sex in the open? Where are the authorities? Is the Ministry of Information and Culture sleeping? Is the National Orientation Agency on sabbatical? Who will protect our children from this despicable onslaught? Who did this to Nigeria?

“…To cap the edifice, MURIC calls for immediate and total ban on this satanic television show. We charge the Ministry of Information and Culture to move swiftly against BB Naija before moral debauchery becomes Nigeria’s middle name. Nigerian youth must be protected from themselves and the time to do so is now. We invite the National Assembly to intervene immediately and we appeal to traditional rulers to add their voices to this campaign.”

However, social media users reacted to the call by the MURIC to ban reality television show, Big Brother Naija (BBN).

Here are some reactions gathered from Twitter:

I’m not really a big fan of BBN but MURIC calling on Buhari to ban the TV show is another example of misplaced priorities.#BBNaijia

MURIC will leave important things like #SayNoToRUGA, Fulani Heardsmen killings only to talk against things that actually makes Nigerians happy. They’re calling for the ban of #BBNaija? Small time, they’ll say Bet9ja should be banned also. Awon alainikanse alainironu

    — Chineze (Ex Mrs Walcott Ozil’s bae @Amchizzy

Muric hasn’t banned fulani herdsmen from rearing cattles on the roads and messing up the street. He hasn’t banned the abokis who use sniper to preserve stockfish. He hasn’t banned the Alhaji’s from getting married to under age girls. And it’s BBNaija he has petitioned. Gbese !

    — HOe TEMPERED @Nappyblaze

What is MURIC doing about the little girls that are being married off in the north? What is MURIC doing to help reduce the mass illiteracy in Northern Nigeria ? Absolutely nothing . But they want BBN to stop airing . It’s either i leave Nigeria or Nigeria leaves me .

  • BBNaija 2019: Angry Biggie blasts housemates for breaking rules

Big Brother on Thursday night blasted housemates of the 2019 ‘Pepper Dem Gang’ edition of the show for breaking the house rules.

Biggie, who was infuriated by the behavior of housemates, accused some of them of speaking different Nigerian dialects in the house.

He also stated the housemates, who were seen acting for the camera, were not being themselves as they have failed to put their egos away.

Biggie, who could not hold his anger, gave the housemates a very low mark for their drama presentation, which was their task for the day, while issuing them a stern warning to be serious with activities of the house.

  •  Buhari centre fires back at Timi Frank,  says Jonathan should apologize to Nigerians, not Buhari

A research center dedicated to documenting the ideals of the Muhammadu Buhari presidency known as Buhari Phenomenal Leadership Centre has fired back at a political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, over his recent call on Nigerians, particularly those who worked against the re-election of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to publicly tender an apology if the country must move forward.
Frank had in a statement issued during the weekend said unless Nigerians prefer to continue in pretence, the era of former President Jonathan managed well the challenge of insecurity compared to what the country has now.
Mr. Timi Frank in  his statement further asserted that “It is obvious now that insecurity in our Nation has gone out of hand. The challenge was limited to a zone under Goodluck Jonathan, but presently no state, including General Buhari’s home state is secured.
“Under Jonathan, Fulani herdsmen were using a stick, but they now carry AK 47. Under Jonathan, lives of Nigerians were more important despite the challenges, but under Buhari, cows are more important than lives. There were a democracy and the rule of law under Jonathan, but it is now the rule of force and impunity. Under Jonathan, National Assembly was active and working but it’s now a rubber stamp.”
Responding to his call, the pro-Buhari group said Frank and his gang of detractors should desist from what it termed as “their shameful antics.”
Akindele Aremu, Director of Media and Strategy of thee group in a statement forwarded to our reporter on Sunday, insisted that the apology in question should come from his benefactor, Goodluck Jonathan under whose administration Nigeria almost went into extinction.
    His statement reads below.
The Buhari Phenomenal Leadership Centre as a result of this states that while Mr. Timi Frank is free to express himself as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, however, decorum must not be sacrificed at the altar of self-aggrandizement.
Mr. Timi Frank, whose history is replete with controversies, went too far in his hallucination by stating that Nigerians should apologize for making the right choice of voting out an incompetent and corrupt government out of office.
This is mindful of the fact that Nigerians voted en masse for the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 because of the failure and near collapse of governance in the country, coupled with the spate of insecurity that saw to the takeover of over 16 local government areas in North-East Nigeria by Boko Haram Terrorist.
The Buhari Phenomenal Leadership Centre is appalled by the gross insensitivity to the sensibilities of Nigerians by Timi Frank in his poorly prepared statement. It is expected that since the likes of Timi Frank have tried all avenues to remain relevant in the scheme of things in the country by forming the habit of making unfounded and illogical statements in an attempt to attract the public attention that he so craves.
The Buhari Phenomenal Leadership Centre wishes to state that Timi Frank by this exhibition has indeed confirmed that he is working hand in hand with those that do not wish the country well. Timi Frank is a national Embarrassment to Nigeria and the people of the South-South region in Nigeria.
It is evident that his statements are side effects of the failure of him to curry favour from the present administration and as such he has constituted himself as a nuisance in the society by making unguarded statements which are often lacking in merit and substance, such as this.
The Buhari Phenomenal Leadership Centre wishes to sound a note of warning to Mr. Timi Frank and his sponsors to desist from their campaign of calumny against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The act of Timi Frank comparing the administration of Goodluck Jonathan to that of President Muhammadu Buhari is the height of an insult to the millions of Nigerians that suffered untold hardship and deprivation under the PDP years of misrule in Nigeria.
The likes of Timi Frank also failed to admit that the bulk of the challenges facing Nigeria today were a creation of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. And that Nigerians decided to take their destinies into their own hands by voting Goodluck Jonathan out of office is what Timi Frank and his cahoots have failed to come to terms with.
This is the time for Timi Frank to desist from his shameful antics because the apology in question should come from his benefactor, Goodluck Jonathan under whose administration Nigeria almost went into extinction.

  • Just in: Avala, Isilomo evicted from BBNaija season four

Two housemates, Avala and Isilomo have been evicted from the ongoing fourth season of the Big Brother Naija show on Sunday.

The two housemates were amongst the four housemates with the least number of BET Naija coins.

They were taken into the arena to play one more game which would determine their continuous stay in the house.

NAN also reports that Avala, Gedoni, Kafhi, and Isilomo were the initial housemates on the eviction list.

However, Omashola and Ike made the list after a heated argument over the theft of Omashola’s Bet9ja coins.

Biggie said the two joins the eviction list for flouting his house rules.

This is the first eviction in the Big Brother Naija Pepper Dem edition which kicked off on June 30, 2019.

The eviction fever is coming after the Saturday night party that saw the housemates enjoying the services of DJ Xclusive who performed for three hours non-stop.

21 youths made it to the Big Brother House to become the housemates of the BBNaija season 4 tagged Pepper Dem.

The eviction continues for the next 11 weeks when the show comes to an end.

  • BBNaija (S4): Fans remember Alex Unusual as ‘Pepper Dem’ first Saturday party crashes expectations

BBNaija season four housemates failed to meet some viewers expectations during the Saturday night party, causing them to reminisce on ‘Double Wahala’ housemate, Alex Asogwa aka Alex Unusual stint in the house.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ‘Pepper Dem’ housemates, who had their first house party of the season, could not give the party vibes fans sought through dancing and relating with each other.

Instead, they talked most of the time and seemed careful when it came to dancing with each other, leading fans to compare them with housemates from previous season.

Alex Unusual was the key past housemate of comparison as she was dubbed the ‘dance queen of BBNaija’ for her solid dance moves and ability to rally the other housemates to have fun during parties.

The reactions to the party; and reminiscing of Alex and other past housemates’ time on the show have been trending on Twitter at number 3 up till the time of this report.

@Juliet46 wrote, “Only Alex will dance for hours without drinking anything, not even water.

“She tore the dance floor even with some of the uncomfortable clothes she was given on Saturday’s! The energy goddess.”

@Fabgirl said, “No single drop of alcohol in her system she entertained Nigeria and Africa. Her energy and strength is a divine gift.I love my Alex #BBNaija”

@OyeJokeA tweeted, “I respect her Energy o. Can’t dance to save my life without Alcohol, how Alex does it is what I dont know ooo. I Re-STAN.”

@Spicy_dolly said, “Thelma is not even good. No energy. No matter ur moves, u need energy to sustain it. Zero energy.

Alex had the energy and it gingered all the other housemates then. But these ones ehen…Mike is the best dancer.”

Meanwhile, some fans noted that DJ Xclusive’s turntable skills were below par, which was unusual for the celebrity Disc Jockey, and added to the lack of vibe the party had.

@MaxiDike said, “Dj Xclusive is talking too much. Play song or go & collect your balance from Big brother. #BBNaija.”

@Ehjiwo tweeted, “Lord we will be glad to hear Biggie’s voice right now. Biggie please end this thing DJ xclusive is doing. #BBNaija.”

@Iam_jobaba said, “DJ Xclusive should have just downloaded a mixtape from naijaloaded and play for these guys.#BBNaija”

For some fans, the party’s outcome was due to the type of housemates selected for this season who are well-exposed and too ‘organised’ to enjoy the party.

@CherenTerfa said, “#BBNaija This year’s Big brother Naija is Boring. They brought civilised house mates to a local man’s show so they are either speaking English through the nose or refusing to dance when it’s party time.”

@Iam_coded tweeted, “This Party is dry. All of them be forming Ajegbo. This where you’ll need Alex. Xclusive sef they play dry songs #BBNaija.”

NAN reports that housemates continue to battle for the Grand Prize of 60 million Naira for the next 93 days. (NAN)
