Kollington fires back at K1: “I tried to call over your mother’s death, you ignored me”

Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji Kollington, has responded to claims by King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 that he failed to offer condolences following the passing of Kwam1’s mother.

K1 had earlier recounted how he supported Kollington during his own mother’s death, accusing Kollington of not returning the favour.

However, speaking in a recent interview on Agbaletu TV, Kollington vehemently denied the allegations, revealing that he had made several attempts to reach out to Kwam1 via phone, but his calls were neither answered nor returned.

Kollington also took a swipe at K1’s character, suggesting that his new title, “Olori Omoba,” had fueled his arrogance.

The Fuji legend further asserted his dominance in the genre, stating that K1 would have to surpass him before he could claim the top spot.

He said: “When Wasiu Ayinde’s mum died, I called him severally. He didn’t pick up, nor did he return the calls. Even on New Year’s Day, I called, and he didn’t pick up. I was like, what’s wrong with this boy? So, I let him be. He can’t tell me he was busy. What was he busy doing? If it is because he was crowned the ‘Olori omoba’, that position is for his family at Ijebu, not for me. Does he want to become God? I am the leader of all the Fuji singers. He can never be the leader when I am still alive. For me to have survived the sickness that happened to me recently, it is only God that can kpai me”.

Tolanibaj to artists: Transition into business when your music becomes outdated

Reality TV star and Disc Jockey, Tolanibaj, has advised artists to embrace evolution by shifting into business ventures or becoming music executives once their music style starts to feel outdated.

In a recent video, Tolanibaj emphasised that veteran artists should leverage their legacy to mentor and support emerging talents instead of releasing subpar music that could tarnish their reputation.

She cited Don Jazzy and Olamide as good examples of stars who have successfully transitioned, urging artists to recognise the right time to step aside and protect the integrity of their brand.

Tolanibaj said, “Why do Nigerian artists not know when to evolve or transition into business. If your sound no longer resonates with your fans or audience or is outdated, go into business. If you have built an amazing legacy, why do you constantly allow disrespect by being compared to the new generation of artists? What’s wrong with becoming a music executive where you shine light on new generation artists and become a boss? Don Jazzy and Olamide are perfect examples of what OG artists need to embody. Stop allowing yourself to be disrespected. A lot of artists are on this table. There’s no shame in retiring. Stop dropping nonsense music to water down your brand, especially if your catalogue in the past is A1”.

Why our TV AD was shot on Mambilla Plateau, by FCMB

Over the past five years, several international brands have been critiqued for cutting corners and deploying stock images, artificial intelligence, and other shortcuts to develop brand collateral and advertising.

This is why the First City Monument Bank Group made a strong statement with the release of its critically acclaimed commercial, shot on location in some of the most remarkable Nigerian towns, by a Nigerian advertising company, and a core of over one thousand Nigerian professionals.

The financial institution recently premiered its new television commercial ‘The Power Of The Group’ featuring a cast and crew of over a thousand people; demonstrating the power and promise of collaboration and showcasing its various subsidiaries.

And, as many wondered on Twitter and Instagram whether the visuals were shot in-studio or not, the Group has confirmed that the commercial was shot on the top of Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State roughly 5,249 ft above sea level, in addition to other locations including Abuja, and Lagos States.

Critically acclaimed for his epic cinematic work, Greg Francois who has shot commercials for global brands including Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Revlon, and Lux said: ‘Everybody was committed to creating the best pictures possible, and this does not come easily. For this concept to truly stand out, each scenario that captured the power of many had to be visually striking. At the same time, it had to be uniquely Nigerian.

“Our objective was to find iconic landmarks that were not only recognisable but celebrate the raw beauty and diversity that Nigeria possesses. Locations like the Mambilla Plateau and Zuma Rock offer magnificent backdrops for our story to unfold. For example, rather than presenting a troupe of drummers or an orchestra in a familiar setting like a concert stage, we transposed this imagery into a new and inspiring world.”
