Khosi, Kanaga Jr, Ipeleng speak on BBTitans journey

The first season of the Big Brother Titans reality show has come to an end but it didn’t leave without memories created by the 24 housemates that participated and keenly competed for the $100,000 grand prize money.

In a chat with The Nation, the winner of the show, 25-year-old Khosi Twala, runner up, 23-year-old Kanaga Jr. and Ipeleng, the only female housemate to get a spot at the finale, shared their journey to fame and stardom.

For Khosi, it feels surreal winning the show as she didn’t see it coming even though she had gone into the house with the intention of winning the show.

“I went into the house without any strategy other than being your regular girl and that was what I did all through by being myself. I am still trying to process the whole deal, I mean, if any housemate had told me I would emerge winner, I would just say but that’s a lie and that is because I felt some people didn’t like my person in the house and didn’t even believe fans and the audience will keep me in the house, yet I was just being myself and doing my own thing,” she said.

Kanaga Jr is one of the most strategic housemates and he explained how he stayed true to his story and his personality saying, “My game going into the house was to stay true to myself, my story and my truth and originality and I was unapologetic about it.”

Despite emerging the runner up, Kanaga Jr had several highlights and he noted that his high points were the Friday night Arena games, creating ideas with the tasks and his finger injury, which lasted three weeks.

Law student and South African housemate, Elaine ‘Ipeleng’ Sepele emerged the first housemate to secure a spot in the finale during the show. The 25-year-old also opened up on her journey in the house saying she went into the house a shy lady but came out as one of the most confident ladies in the house. She also revealed that she believes her experiences in the house coupled with her law trainings would help her make impactful and meaningful changes in Africa.

  • How my passion for acting was birthed, Sunkanmi Fasasi

How my passion for acting was birthed, Sunkanmi Fasasi

Nigerian actor, Olasunkanmi Fasasi is one of the rising stars that is adding value to Nollywood.

Sunkanmi, who is fondly called ‘Suko’ by his friends and fans, said he fell in love with acting after his father took him to a local theatre as a youngster.

He said, “I became attracted to this career path when my father took me to the local theatre to see a stage play. I saw myself on this career path because at that time, I found it  interesting. I still find it interesting. I was happy to meet a few of the performers. One of my friends, back then, was involved in the local children’s theatre group. They asked me to come along to one of the rehearsals. I was fascinated by the process behind creating a theatre show, and I signed up for the group the next season. I continued to act in school and in the community theatre until I gained admission into high school and joined the theatre club. l cannot think of anything I will do outside of acting.”

The ‘Shush’ actor also recounted some of the challenges he faced when he initially joined the movie industry.

“When I first  got into the industry, after learning the rudiments of acting, I thought  I would just start getting featured in movies. I thought I would become a star actor overnight but things didn’t turn out that way. I faced numerous challenges. Getting funds to produce my own movie was another major challenge. If one does not have money to produce one’s movie, one will find it difficult to get featured in another person’s movie. If one does not have money, one would find it hard integrating into the industry because one would have to go to locations, feed oneself, and take care of one’s accommodation. It wasn’t easy at all,” he said.

On how he wants to add value to Nollywood, the ace actor said, ” I see myself contributing to the growth of the industry by promoting and producing quality movies that will impact both the young and the old.”
