We must speak against all forms of abuse, says Kevwe Ogunje

Film producer Kevwe Ogunje has said that the basis of his new movie entitled ‘To Freedom’ is to encourage people in abusive marriages to speak up before it’s too late.

Speaking on domestic violence, Ogunje said, “It’s a topic all of us can actually relate to, be it emotional, traumatic, and others. We go through it but we just form. We need to start talking about it, talking about ways to confront it and ways to escape from it.”

Continuing, he said, “There are many values attached to this movie including education and entertainment. We are saying there is a way out but you must talk to people and you will find solutions to difficult situations. The central theme is there is a way out.

“There are many positive things to learn in this film, domestic violence is not good and sometimes don’t take matters into your own hands.

“We are planning to start a community where different topics would be touched. The actors in the film will speak with people about these issues. The film is not for a particular set of people but it is a film in between the balance.”

Ogunje’s new film, ‘To Freedom,’ is currently screening at various cinemas. The film is co-produced and written by TigerFireRose, and directed by Biodun Stephen.
