    As Okorocha’s wife clocks 50…

OWERRI was like an occupied territory a few days ago as the country’s powerbrokers deserted Abuja and temporarily relocated to Owerri, the capital of Imo State, for the celebration of the 50th birthday of Mrs Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, wife of the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Led by President Muhammadu Buhari (who was represented by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Mustapha Boss) and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, the governors of Abia and Bayelsa states, among others, the movers and shakers of society were there in full force to celebrate the beautiful first lady of Imo State for her selflessness and single-mindedness in tackling the scourge of poverty and ignorance among women.

One by one, they mounted the stage at the Nick Banquet Hall, Government House, Owerri, to extol the virtues of the brains behind Women of Divine Destiny (WODD) initiative, which has brought succour to hundreds of underprivileged people.

Before the colloquium and book presentation at the occasion, the Vice President had earlier commissioned a new ultra-modern wellness and diagnostics centre for women and children, built by Mrs Okorocha through her WODD pet project.

Heyden Oil boss completes late heir’s unfinished project

From the ashes of a monumental tragedy has risen the sweet, soft incense of immortality. The soul of Olugbemiga Abiodun, aka DJ Olu, has soared to the skies, and in its place are majestic monuments to remind the world of the rare gem it lost in his prime.

The late DJ Olu was well on his way to joining the top echelon of generational talents before the grim reaper came knocking, robbing the world of a sensation who throbbed and vibrated with youthful energy that made him a phenomenon on and off the entertainment scene.

Since he left a number of extraordinary projects unfinished, his father and boss of Hayden Oil, Dapo Abiodun, has gone ahead to complete one of them as a posthumous gift to ensure his son’s immortality.

The state-of-the-art car wash project in DJ Olu’s Victoria Garden City (VGC) home has been completed by Dapo Abiodun, whereupon the Heyden Oil boss threw the doors open for the grand commissioning ceremony. Old and young, friends and family members converged on the high class car maintenance facility to celebrate with the family and make toasts to the memory of a young man who left an enduring mark on the world he left behind.

Family, friends plan big for TY Danjuma at 80

General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma is a towering icon beside whom others stand to learn the truth about their own inadequacies.

He is the grandmaster of politics and business with garlands from the wars he fought both on battlefields and in boardrooms. Even in retirement, a mere mention of his name sends shivers down the spines of lesser gods.

Thus, as his 80th birthday draws near, Lagos, the proposed venue for the celebrations, is agog with such excitement that could power the national grid. Even as high society members jostle for invites like unruly children, friends and family members are leaving no avenue unexplored to deliver the mother of all birthday parties.

Not left out are the less-privileged who are already licking their lips in anticipation of a shower of goodies from the occasion. The chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO) is well reputed for his philanthropic gestures.

  • Where Is Yvonne Nwosu?

    Where Is Yvonne Nwosu?

One of the flower girls of high society, Yvonne Nelson, has been ‘missing’ in action in recent times, leaving many to wonder what could have happened to the vivacious woman who for many years has been wowing the fashion scene with her VONNE Couture designs.

The woman, once a mainstay on the social scene, seems to have recoiled into her shell for unknown reasons. Several high profile social events have gone by in recent times without an appearance by the tall and beautiful super designer.

Those who expected to see her at the recent Heineken Lagos Fashion Week went home disappointed. It was the same story at GTBFSHNWKND 2017 and the Hennessy Artistry event on Saturday. Yvonne’s absence on those occasions naturally left observers to wonder what could be holding her from making her usual appearances in public.

While some have speculated that she might have been swept off her feet by matters of the heart, others insist she is just taking a well-deserved holiday, enjoying herself in trips around the world.

  • Ngozi Ekeoma over the moon

    Ngozi Ekeoma over the moon

There is no gainsaying the fact that the Managing Director of Nepal Oil and Gas, Ngozi Ekeoma, has been blessed with the things money can buy. Consequently, it is those things money cannot buy that make the most difference to her these days.

A few days ago, the brilliant and unassuming woman was blessed with one of such things. Her daughter, Ezinne, was delivered of a set of twins in faraway Houston, Texas, in the United States.

The beautiful wife of business tycoon and Nepal boss, Elder Eme Ekeoma, is over the moon on account of the development. Those who should know said she could barely contain her joy as she jettisoned work and caught the next available flight to the USA to be with her daughter.

Indications are that both mother and children are doing well under the care of eagle-eyed doctors and nurses at the private hospital. Meanwhile, family and friends are anticipating a big two-way bash in Houston and Nigeria to celebrate the twins’ arrival.
