Gbenga Elegbeleye, Rotimi Ibidapo add new feathers

THERE are lessons to be learnt from the lives of the duo of former Director General of the National Sports Commission, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, and the Chairman, Board of Directors, Pacific Drilling International West Africa Limited (PIDWAL), Prince Rotimi Ibidapo. A cursory interaction with them would reveal that they are men with profound passion for their callings.

The duo were the first to be conferred the celebrity Honorary Special Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ondo State Wednesday last week. The event was held at the hall of Akure South Local Government. It was evident from the faces of the elite crowd that gathered to celebrate the duo that they believed it was an honour well deserved.

However, when career success comes up as a subject of discourse in any forum examining human development and capacity building, the name of Prince Rotimi Ibidapo would naturally be a reference point. It is no gainsaying that he has made excellence a focal point in virtually all his corporate expeditions. Hon. Gbenga Otolorin Elegbeleye on the other hand is extraordinary in his dealings as he exhibits a perfect blend of perseverance and hard work. Like a whirlwind writing across space, Hon his record in the political space is not something to be sniffed at dismissively.

Elegbeleye rose many years ago as the youngest local government chairman in Ondo State to become the Chairman of Ondo State Waste Management Authority before he became the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Sport in the House of Representatives.

  • Stylish birthday for Gani Adams’ wife

IT was celebration galore for the Aare Ona Kakanfo-designate and coordinator of Odua People’s Congress (OPC), Otunba Gani Adams, and his wife, Erelu Mojisola, on Tuesday as the latter added a new year. The beautiful mother of two was the cynosure of all eyes as she twinkled her toes on the dance floor amid thunderous applause from guests who were on hand to wine and dine with her in their home on Tuesday.

Behind Otunba Gani Adams has always been Mojisola. The founder of OASIS Women Organisation has weathered the storms of life with him and emerged on the other side in flying colours. The annual empowerment programme she organises has become a must-go for youths and women seeking succour from the harsh living climate. Though her husband’s increased profile has automatically raised hers, Erelu Mojisola wisely shies away from the limelight, preferring instead to noiselessly go about adding value to humanity.

  • Dimeji Bankole celebrates 48

FORMER Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Dimeji Bankole, has had enough experiences of life to last a lifetime. He has been in the valley and on the mountain top. He has swum against the tides of wild allegations and has had a baptism of fire. Through it all, he has emerged an older, wiser and more rounded individual better equipped for the tasks ahead.

Even as he clocked 48 on Tuesday, the Abeokuta-born dude shunned the widely expected shindig for a special prayer session at his home.

Having burst onto the scene as the youngest Nigerian ever to assume the mantle of the Speaker of the House of Representatives at 37, Hon. Bankole has learnt that ephemeral glory in a crowd is but a poor substitute for the sincerity that is found in the company of a few true and honest friends.

It is said that the soft-spoken Bankole is one of those gearing up to become the next governor of Ogun State. Already, campaign buses declaring him for governorship have flooded the state, while campaign offices have been set up in all the local government areas in the state.

Public Relations expert, Charles Igbinidu, would agree with these sentiments. His mother was the hand that moulded him into who he has become, and he did his utmost to ensure she enjoyed the fruits of her labour.
