  • Ngozi Ekeoma over the moon

    Ngozi Ekeoma over the moon

There is no gainsaying the fact that the Managing Director of Nepal Oil and Gas, Ngozi Ekeoma, has been blessed with the things money can buy. Consequently, it is those things money cannot buy that make the most difference to her these days.

A few days ago, the brilliant and unassuming woman was blessed with one of such things. Her daughter, Ezinne, was delivered of a set of twins in faraway Houston, Texas, in the United States.

The beautiful wife of business tycoon and Nepal boss, Elder Eme Ekeoma, is over the moon on account of the development. Those who should know said she could barely contain her joy as she jettisoned work and caught the next available flight to the USA to be with her daughter.

Indications are that both mother and children are doing well under the care of eagle-eyed doctors and nurses at the private hospital. Meanwhile, family and friends are anticipating a big two-way bash in Houston and Nigeria to celebrate the twins’ arrival.

    Asiwaju Bolarinwa set for Abuja

IT takes a man who trusts in his vision to keep going long after others have thrown in the towel. Formidable former House of Reps aspirant, Bolarinwa Oluwole, has not let the stink of initial failure linger on his person.

Rather, he has continued his people-oriented activities, putting smiles on the faces of his constituents, especially the students.

As a result, he is now in pole position to clinch his constituency’s seat next time around on the back of massive grassroots support. The young politician from Remo Federal Constituency is the toast of students in the state, who even gave him another feather to add to his already well-decorated cap.

Only recently, the Okanlomo was honoured as the Distinguished Person of the Year by the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) in recognition of the vital role he has played in ensuring that many indigent students continue their education.

  • Banky W, Adesua: The scandal

    Banky W, Adesua: The scandal

    “Every story is us”

    – Rumi.

This is the 21st century and many things have changed. One of these changes is evident in placing people in classes based on their space in the immediate society and the word “celebrity” is not new to our ears. Celebrity doesn’t have to just do with being renowned and wealthy; it should also have to do with exhibiting wisdom and common sense that makes you really worth being celebrated. So, not every rich man is a celebrity, you can be a celebrity – it depends on your wisdom.

Banky Wellington’s wedding with Adesua was one of the most explosive this year has witnessed. While many haters had hoped that it would soon crash like every other celebrity marriage, I had high hopes in this marriage that nothing can shake its foundation. But our mistakes start from the day we ignore the words of the elders.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was right when she told the couple to stay off social media; it’s high time the fact becomes accepted that not everything that happens in one’s private life needs to be aired. Not everyone reading is happy.  Do we expect someone who has a failed marriage to see daily videos of newly wedded couples and be happy? Impossible.

Banky W, in his efforts to show how fascinating honeymoon could be in Capetown, has committed  the silliest mistake to expose his wife’s butt. I’m certain he never watched the video before uploading it on SnapChat and it wasn’t intentional – but who cares if it was or not ? It’s just like saying Maryam stabbed Bilyamin unknowingly – does it alter the fact that Bilyamin is dead? Most countrymen feel there’s no big deal in this, many mock the couple and many shared heartfelt pity.  But if such could occur within a week of marriage, what’s to be expected before a year ends ?

We would always try as much to justify our pervasive activity, just to prove the point that we are above flaws, but we seem to have forgotten that impeccability is a gift no one owns. Many would claim the public should paddle their own canoes but I’m sure this case is still repeating itself and would keep repeating itself, if care is not taken. We are falling off the cliff – our culture, our values, our norms, our traditions. Back then, to touch a spinster’s hairdo is a huge crime, but today – you’d even caress and soothe it ! No one sees anything wrong about it because it’s their subjective wish. But do we know how much modification of individual bias has wrecked the foundation of humanism? If our forefathers exposed everything that happens in their private lives to the public, I wonder if we would be born.

Ogedengbe Agbogungboro, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, Aare Latoosa, Efunsetan Aniwura, Ojo Aburumaku – they were all celebrities in their time. And somehow, I feel their lifetime is worth celebrating more compared to that of the recent times celebrities (except a few).

People claim Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Odunlade Adekola and the likes have been able to maintain their marital lives without a third party interference. No one ever wonders why the marriage of other celebrities is on shaky roots or perhaps, we chose to ignore and claim:

“Adesua is not my sister. Why should it concern me?”.

“Adesua is my ex. That serves her right”.

“Na their problem be that jare. Wetin concern agbero with overload?”

But we seem to forget so quick that we’d get to that position some days and you might be the one with the exposed butt. How would you feel?

Banky W has spitted on the face of those who believe this shouldn’t have occurred. Adesua is definitely in an emotional abyss, as it was obvious she didn’t set out to expose her body unnecessarily. Little things count and sometimes, the foundation of a thing determines its end.

There’s a good verisimilitude of truth between Kemi Adetiba’s The Wedding Party and the ass scandal that just evolved. Employing a flashback to the movie, Banky W played the character of a playboy before settling down with Adesua. In quick progression, one of his aggrieved ex was present at the wedding and manipulated a G string pant in place of fabricated rose (usually placed there). One of his best men had wanted to present a speech using the projector and unfortunately released a tape recorded on the wedding eve where the drunk Banky W had said vulgar and licentious things. Adesua had no choice but to flee in tears and using the normal trick, he was able to tender apologia to her and get it under denouement.

It’s noteworthy that whilst copulation was ongoing on their wedding night, she had discovered the red G string pant in his pocket in place of a rose ribbon. Reality is gradually playing back from the movie and I can’t just get my mind off those silly, costly mistakes. I just want to hope that Banky W has learnt a great deal of lesson from what a SnapChat video can do and if he’s truly worth celebrating, amendment is priority. Omotola Jalade’s advice to stay off the social media seems to be a prophecy.

Many have argued that seeing nude pictures and videos aren’t new but it’s important to know that personality matters. Adesua is not a porn star, only a stupid person would compare this incident to the normal videos leaked on PornHub. Consent and emotion is also necessary. I wonder how jobless Nigerians are best at sitting down and mocking someone who is better off their earliest grandmothers. Someone commented that it’s an achievement to have seen Adesua ‘assest’ after all then I wonder if such a person can ever get to be featured in a newspaper till he dies.

I advise most Nigerians to get good jobs or better still, find a slot with LAWMA rather than spitting crap in the name of making a contribution. Such people end up mocking their ignominy, thinking Adesua is being mocked. I can’t discern the intention of the several bloggers and website owners who decided to upload the video after YouTube (supposedly causing a cyber disgrace) not only within the country but outside this border. While we think we are causing harm to others, we are actually piercing ourselves unknowingly.

Just like every other thing, this too will soon pass. But will the couple learn from this flaw? Can the stigma be erased? Can this video get off the whole of the net? Won’t there be a necessity for a nuthead to come back on this video account to haunt the couple in future? If such would ever occur, I’d claim it lies in the hand of the couple – especially Banky Wellington.

There’s no need crying over spilt milk but we can just pack the mess in such a way that it’d look like it never happened. At the end, those who can stand the trials of time would be the real celebrities, not those who signed out in every wrong step. I wish Banky and Adesua a marital life spiced with bliss and free from knives and scandal.

WHILE Jesus promised his servants a bounteous reward in heaven for their efforts on earth, a few men of God are no doubt enjoying some measure of treasure on earth. Many Nigerian pastors can go toe-to-toe with wealthy politicians or businessmen in terms of luxurious lifestyles, including acquisition of private jets.

The newest entrant into the exclusive club of men of God with private jets is none other than the charismatic leader of Believers Loveworld Ministry a.k.a. Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome. Tongues are already wagging over the tales that the intelligent and handsome dude was gifted a new private jet by the music department of his church.

  • ‘Friends’ abandon Ex-President Jonathan in the cold

‘Friends’ abandon Ex-President Jonathan in the cold

WHEN fortune flees from men, they are often forsaken by the friends they made while they were riding high on the waves of fame. If former President Goodluck Jonathan did not believe these words before now, events in the past few days must have forced a rethink.

The former President turned 60 years old on Monday, but instead of the usual avalanche of glowing advertorials in newspapers and the electronic media, the gift his former associates gave him was silence.  Only a few close pals even bothered to publicly congratulate him on adding another year.

Since his defeat at the polls in the last presidential election, Jonathan has been left in the cold by his multitude of fair weather friends and political jobbers who filled his ears with false proclamations of undying love and friendship while he held sway as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

While he used his position to secure favourable deals for many of his so-called friends, they were the first to jump ship at the first sign of trouble. Now mostly alone and powerless in the grand scheme of things, Jonathan is forced to rely on the few faithful comrades who have remained as close as blood brothers to him.

  • Kabir Jibola Gbemisola: a chip off the old block

WHILE some heirs are in a haste to fritter away all the hard-won wealth of their fathers on the altar of mindless pleasure, Kabir Jibola Gbemisola plans how best to lift the business he inherited to greater heights. While his late father laid the foundation for Fatgbems Group of Companies, it is Jibola that has transformed it into a giant towering above others in the business arena.

No sooner had Jibola assumed the reins of the company than he waved his magic wand and brought about a swift upturn in the company’s fortunes. The difference is as clear as night and day, so much so that the handsome dude is now the toast of the business world. He already possessed a glowing resume from his six years as Chief Executive at Spirsal Oil and Gas.

Unlike some of his peers who relax once they arrive at the pinnacle of their careers, Jibola saw the hereditary elevation as a challenge to prove his mettle and swiftly went about rebranding and repositioning the company to become a force to reckon with in its sector. His efforts has already bore fruits, going by the company’s increased visibility and profitability in recent times.

  • Where is Kola Karim?

    Where is Kola Karim?

THE daily life of a celebrity is under constant scrutiny from the public who demand to know where they are and what they are doing at any given time. One man who has become adept at hiding himself from the searchlights of fans and paparazzi is Kola Karim. The CEO of Shoreline Energy International has transformed flying under the radar into an art form.

Though blessed with the best things money can buy, it is the things that money cannot buy that mostly occupy his thoughts. Even as he revels in his fleet of luxury cars, he does not flaunt them. Rather, he is eager to lend a hand to the willing and the humble.

While many of his peers are ever ready to speak their accomplishments into nearby megaphones, Kola prefers not to make a public song of his accomplishments. While they focus on the geometric expansion of their bank balances, Kola is most concerned with raising a new generation of leaders equipped with the tools for success in the business world.

Like a guardian angel deftly guiding and correcting wobbly steps, Kola revels in his quiet role as a shaper and moulder of legacies, a master polisher in whose hands rough diamonds become glittering jewels. He empowers men from his unending supply of intellectual and financial capital and watches with glee as they soar on their own.
