List of countries where ‘cryptocurrency trading’ is legal, illegal

    By Alao Abiodun

Cryptocurrency has become a widely acceptable means of payment with greater capacity and faster settlement than other traditional financial structures.

It is a digital currency that can be used to buy goods and services but uses an online ledger with strong cryptography to secure online transactions.

Cryptocurrency market was started by the group or individual known as Satoshi Nakamoto.

Bitcoin, which is the most popular cryptocurrency, alongside Ethereum (Ether) – is a digital currency that debuted in 2009.

In 2008, during the global financial crisis a white paper called Bitcoin – A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System was released. It was made for people to control their money themselves.

Bitcoins are not issued, endorsed, or regulated by any central bank but are rather created through a computer-generated process known as mining. They are usually bought through crypto exchanges such as Binance, Kraken, eToro, and Coinbase. Investors usually check online reviews and Bitcoin guides to see if exchanges are reliable and regulated locally.
However, there are no uniform international laws that regulate buying, selling, and using Bitcoin.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, in a circular on Friday, February 5, directed banks to close accounts of persons or entities involved in cryptocurrency transactions within their systems.

Aside from being the biggest crypto market on the African continent, in terms of trade volume, Nigeria is the second biggest bitcoin market in the world after the United States.

  • Unconventional ways to maintain dental hygiene

Unconventional ways to maintain dental hygiene

    By Uwaifo Faith Abiodun

Whether you are speaking at a close range with a colleague, sharing a mic with your chorister, or kissing your significant other, it is very important to have fresh breath.

Though not many people will want to offend you by pointing out that you have foul breath, many people will find it offensive. There are people who, every day every time, halitosis is constant with them, there is an explanation for this.

There is a difference between having an underlying dental health issue that causes halitosis and having halitosis because of poor dental hygiene.

Most people suffer from the latter, dental hygiene has been an issue most people do not take seriously but is one of the most serious things in general personal hygiene. Here are 5 unconventional ways that guarantee fresher breath.

    DO NOT RINSE

While brushing, it is advisable to spit out all the foam and residue but not to rinse the mouth, weird right? Yea, toothpaste contains fluoride and fluoride has been proven to be good for the teeth, it energizes and strengthens the teeth, it also reduces teeth sensitivity, it will not be wise to wash away the substance that helps the teeth. This habit has also proven to be more effective for a fresher breath. It can be uncomfortable at the beginning but as time goes on, it becomes a part of you.

    FLOSSING

Flossing entails using a piece of medically approved rope to clean between the teeth, this way the part where a toothbrush cannot get to, flossing is able to. It is very unconventional in Nigeria to floss; most people feel it is a waste of time. But flossing has so many advantages, it prevents bad breath cleans in between the teeth, reduces the buildup of tartar (the white stuff that appears on the teeth of people) and sometimes removes tiny bones from in-between the teeth. There are little and more comfortable flosses produced now and it can be used everywhere.

CHANGE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH ONCE IN THREE MONTHS.

The thing about changing toothbrushes regularly is that it prevents cavities, and it prevents tartar buildup. Most people are not concerned about tartar in their mouths and the presence of this gives an impression that a person has poor dental hygiene.

Using one brush for over three months weakens the edges of the toothbrush and makes it less effective to clean the mouth hence tartar. There are also healthy chemical substances good for the teeth that are contained in the toothbrush, they fade within 3 months after that, the toothbrush becomes more or less useless.

    BRUSH INSIDE THE TEETH.

The part of the teeth that is opposite the tongue, I mean the back of the teeth, needs to be washed, as often as the teeth are brushed. Regular oval-shaped toothbrushes alone cannot effectively clean this part of the teeth, there are specific brushes meant for it, often round in shape, these brushes will wash parts of the teeth that the regular oval-shaped brushes cannot which of course cleans the teeth better and gives fresher breath.

    USE MOUTHWASH

The standard number of times to brush the teeth is three times a day, but sometimes, we know that it is unattainable, mouthwash will come in handy then. Mouthwash is supposed to be used after each meal, to maintain fresh breath.

There are different flavors of mouthwash and one can choose according to preferences. Mouthwash should also be gagged and used to rinse the mouth. Note also that it is not an alternative to water after brushing. Not rinsing the mouth after brushing should be maintained.

  • How to beat procrastination

    How to beat procrastination

    By Ekaette Edemumoh

    A popular nursery rhyme says:
    ‘Tick says the clock,

    Tick, tick.

    What you have to do,

    Do quick!’

Procrastination is a disease a lot of people suffer from. This disease has eaten up into the very existence of most humans. You find people postponing a task or taking a decision for later.

Procrastination simply means the act of delaying to carry out a task on purpose or intentionally. Procrastination will always bring about negative outcomes. It puts you in a very tight corner. I can cite an example. Let’s use the case of the NIN (National Identification Number) registration.

READ ALSO: The fastest way to kill your dreams – procrastination

It will interest us to know that the requirement for NIN was made law in 2007 by Section 16 of the National Identity Management Commission Act. We had as a people, enough time to go out to do our registration so we could be issued our numbers and our cards but most persons never bothered to go out to register.

But for some, it was never considered important. For others, they won’t need it for anything” or “not any time soon”. But alas! The issue of linking our phone lines with our National Identification Number popped up and more than half of the entire population was thrown off balance.

They were immediately put on their toes principally as they stand the chance of having their lines blocked. That is what procrastination can do. It will deny you the joy of finishing well.

Most procrastinators ultimately do not have the time to even start up anything talk more of finishing. Thus, they find themselves overwhelmed with deep regrets. That decision or choice you have to make, don’t put it off for later; make it now.

  • Signs your teenage child is taking illicit drugs

Signs your teenage child is taking illicit drugs

    By Chinyere Okoroafor

Children are a source of worry for every parent.

Ensuring that children grow up well-mannered and focused in their studies is not easy for every parent, especially in this internet age when knowledge is fast.

It is also frightening to imagine that your teenage child might be using drugs or drinking alcohol. However, drug abuse in teenagers is a very real problem.

Whatever culture and religious background, it’s vital for parents to understand the signs of drug abuse and how to address it.

Here’s what you need to know:

     Changes in physical appearance

Physical changes will vary depending on what substance the individual is using, and they may be harder to spot. Look out for:

    -Bloodshot eyes

-Unexplained bruises, wounds, or track marks on arms

-Long sleeves in hot weather when they usually wear short sleeves

    -Flushed cheeks

-Careless personal hygiene or disheveled appearance

    -Soot on fingers or lips

    -Shaking or tremours

-Unusual smell on clothing or breath (they might chew gum or eat mints to mask it)

-Nosebleeds or a runny nose without a cold

    -Constantly licking lips

    Changes in the home

Take note of Drug Paraphernalia. Some things stand out as a blatant sign that something is wrong, such as finding a hidden stash of drugs or alcohol. But sometimes, the signs are more subtle. Keep an eye out for unusual changes to your home environment, such as:

-Containers or wrappers you don’t recognize.

-Drug paraphernalia like smoking devices, eye drops, butane lighters, and syringes.

-Dents in the car that can’t be explained.

    -Over-the-counter drugs or alcohol.

    * Watch out for these key signs of drug abuse in teenagers:
