  • The beauty of a woman

    The beauty of a woman

    By Femi Fani-Kayode

I see the beauty of a woman. It resides both in the inner and on the outer side. It is within and without. It is physical and spiritual. It is breathtaking and intoxicating. It lights up the senses and ignites the sensual.

It is alluring and irresistible. It is enchanting and captivating. It is explosive and ecstatic. It is charming and holds you spell-bound. It ensnares your mind, enslaves your thoughts, stirs your body and kindles your inner most desires. It is a sight to behold.

It conjures love, awakens passion, lights the fire, ignites the imagination, tantalises the senses and triples the heartbeat.

It ushers in peace, attracts fulfillment and invokes God’s prescence, grace, mercy, joy and blessings.

It is eternal and everlasting. It does not fade. It does not vanish. It is not ephemeral. It endures through the ages. It thrives in summer, winter and spring.

It weathers every storm, climbs every mountain and levels every valley. It dispels the darkness with its compelling radiance and brings light.

It strengthens and inspires. It heals every wound. It crumbles every heart. It takes away every hurt and it brings a smile to every face even in the most trying moments.

It commands virtue and decency. It insists on equity, sobriety, honor, nobility and loyalty. It compels courage, strength, fidelity, resilience, self-respect, the ability to endure and class.

It touches the soul, stirs the spirit and moves the body.
It is unfathomable, unknowable and unquenchable. It touches everything. It IS everything. Today I celebrate the beauty of a woman.

  • SUGAR DADDY: ‘Chilling out with Faith’

SUGAR DADDY: ‘Chilling out with Faith’

    Chilling out with Faith

There have been recent issues going on around the social media, particularly twitter where young Nigerians joke about sugar dating. Sugar dating particularly means a relationship where an older wealthier person and a younger person (most likely in need of financial assistance) are in a mutually beneficial relationship. They were light hearted about the pros of being in a sugar dating relationship. We took that opportunity to discuss about this trending on our online TV platform Chilling out with Faith” where our guest Shalewa was a team sugar dating while Faith a team relationship. The discussion got interesting and we decided to take it a little further, to the streets.

On the street, we decided to have an interview with young Nigerians and ask what team they stand for and why. It’s a good thing that Nigerians are becoming forth coming with issues like this; majority of the guys boldly went for team sugar dating and majority of the girls, team relationship. It makes one to wonder why the guys were so bold and forthcoming about sugar dating and even got hailed behind the scenes for their choice  but the females were a little more reserved on sugar dating, even when it is clear that majority of the sugar dating stories tilt towards sugar daddy and sugar babies (females).

The team sugar dating gave us the advantages of being in sugar dating relationships like being ‘relassed and taking kiaruf’, enjoying the financial gains with no one to burden you with  financial needs, freedom to move on anytime. Team relationship also gave the advantages of being in a relationship, building life together, having meaningful interactions with your age mate, being loved.

Whatever the case, we hope everyone is fine with their decisions, as long as they are not coerced into making it. We are in an era of, do what makes you happy.

We are going to be placing a poll here. We want to engage our viewers and see what they think about this. Team sugar daddy or team boyfriend, team sugar mummy or team girlfriend.

  • Six simple tips to stay healthy

Six simple tips to stay healthy

    By Uwaifo Faith Abiodun

Staying healthy doesn’t have to be an excruciating adventure or an ordeal; it just sometimes has to be minimal changes in lifestyle. Here are some simple tricks to staying healthy.

    Chewing properly:

Research has shown that not chewing food properly can be a major cause of weight gain because the brain takes up to 30 minutes to inform the body that it is full. By not chewing properly, you tend to eat more than your body needs. So eating slowly and chewing properly makes you eat what your body needs.

This habit also causes you to get fuller quickly because your body is given the time to know what amount of food you needed. Eating slowly can also be fun. It’s a technique that enables you to savour all the flavour and ingredients in the food. It helps you enjoy your food better.

    Breakfast:

Breakfast they say is the most important meal of the day, it is not just a cliché, it is a fact. Eating breakfast should be a habit to cultivate because it makes you eat less during the day. You tend to eat more when hungrier, and stuffing food inside your body is not a very good idea.

    Water:

Being thirsty should not be the major proponent of taking water, it is not even such a good idea; it should not even be taken in between meals. Water should be taken randomly, always, not gulped but sipped. Research has shown the importance of water, though there are recent debates concerning the 8 glasses of water a day.

    Snack healthy:

Snacks are really enjoyable; it is a way of relaxing and enjoying ourselves, like taking yourself to the cinemas or seeing a movie. That is what snacking is to food- dessert. It could be the “tushed” pizza, hamburger, cake, yoghurt, or our local puff puff, meat pie, buns, or even akara. Nothing wrong with enjoying yourself, but it becomes an issue for concern when this habit becomes the norm. Why not substitute “flour stricken snacks” to veggies filled snacks. Remember, snacks are desserts not main course meals; they are not to be substituted as foods and eaten in excess.

    Veggies, fruits and healthy drinks:

Vegetables and fruits are healthy foods, so you will agree with me that if 3/4 of your food is not filled with fruit and veggies, you are not being a good person. We can cut down on the carbs we eat and replace them with veggies. Exchange soda for smoothies as there are different kinds of smoothies.

    Dance Workouts:

Ever heard of dance workouts? Dance workouts are fast becoming the sorted out forms of exercises. Well, you don’t have to go through the excruciating pains of exercises again. Dance Workouts can be fun, you exercise while you enjoy it and you can also learn how to dance, a fun way to express yourself when happy.

  • You are not in love with him, you are only ovulating

You are not in love with him, you are only ovulating

    By Faith Abiodun-Nwaifo

Have there been times in your life as a single lady when you suddenly began to like someone you never would have given a chance? Or you suddenly began to feel mushy towards a particular guy most times wooers or even exes who you have not been in contact with for a while?

Sometimes you wonder why these feelings randomly spring up involuntarily. Chances are you are ovulating. This unsolicited feeling normally begins between the middle the to late ’20s and increases within the late ’20s to early ’30s in the life span of a woman.

Simply put, ovulation is a period when your body prepares itself for reproduction, your body doesn’t ask for your permission to know if you are really in the mood to give birth as the popular saying goes, it has a mind of its own.

There are other symptoms of ovulation like cramps, bloating, increased vaginal mucus, tender breasts, changes in body temperature, and increased libido, some women say they get confused, lazy, angry, etc but we are going to see how to manage “horniness” while ovulating

Well here are some things to do or not while ovulating:

Wait: Be patient. Give your body the time it needs to display its shenanigans, don’t give in to the probing or urge to confess sudden love or likeness to anyone. It might end in premium tears when the ovulation period is over and your eyes become clearer. Be careful not to make major decisions in life based on your feeling.

Get busy: While waiting, get busy. Women have different bodies and reactions to situations, some get confused, bothered, angry, horny. These feelings differ and different solutions should be procured.

So in cases where you feel mushy, getting busy is more likely to do the trick. Not just physically, but mentally too. When the brain is involved in activities you are less likely to brood over the feelings. Sometimes it can be exercised as well.

Enjoy the feeling. Enjoy the likeness. It’s fun. Be happy that you are normal. Laugh it off sometimes or even make fun of yourself. After all, it will only last a little while. Moreover, you don’t get serious with someone because you like or love them.

Avoid scenarios that will further feed the urges. You don’t want to find yourself watching romantic movies at that time, technically avoid it. Find yourself some other ways of entertainment at that time so as not to further fuel unusual passion.

Sleep, eat, drink water, and mind your business. You can never go wrong with eating, drinking, and minding your business.

  • How to stay safe from ‘yellow-fever’ disease

How to stay safe from ‘yellow-fever’ disease

    By Alao Abiodun

In the past weeks, some parts of the states in the countries have recorded ‘strange deaths’.

However, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) traced the recent spike in deaths caused by a “strange disease” suspected to be ‘yellow fever’.

Scores of deaths to the strange diseases were first reported in Enugu two weeks ago and subsequently in Delta, Bauchi, Oyo, and Kogi.

The ‘strange disease’ reportedly killed almost 50 persons in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi. Also, NCDC confirmed the strange deaths in Enugu, Delta, and Bauchi were suspected cases of yellow fever and that a total of 76 deaths were recorded in the three states.

Here are things you need to know about ‘yellow-fever disease’:

    · Yellow Fever is a vaccine-preventable disease. It is an acute viral haemorrhagic disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes. The “yellow” in the name refers to jaundice that affects some patients.

    Symptoms of yellow fever include;

    · Fever

    · Headache

    · Jaundice

    · Muscle Pain

    · Nausea

    · Vomiting and Fatigue.

A small proportion of patients who contract the virus develop severe symptoms and approximately half of those die within 7 to 10 days.

The virus is endemic in tropical areas of Africa and Central and South America.

READ ALSO: 922,463 for yellow fever vaccination in Enugu

Large epidemics of yellow fever occur when infected people introduce the virus into heavily populated areas with high mosquito density and where most people have little or no immunity, due to lack of vaccination. In these conditions, infected mosquitoes of the Aedes aegypti species transmit the virus from person to person.

Yellow fever is prevented by an extremely effective vaccine, which is safe and affordable.

A single dose of yellow fever vaccine is sufficient to grant sustained immunity and life-long protection against yellow fever disease

Good supportive treatment in hospitals improves survival rates. There is currently no specific antiviral drug for yellow fever.

    Prevention

    Here are ways to prevent this disease;

Protection from mosquitoes – To reduce exposure to mosquitos, experts advise:

    · Where possible, avoid outdoor activities during dawn, dusk, and early evening, when mosquitoes are most prevalent.

    · Cover the skin as much as possible, by wearing long-sleeved shirts and long clothes in areas where there are mosquitoes.

    · Stay indoors in places that have air-conditioning and good screening, such as window nets

    · Apply mosquito repellent to clothing, shoes, and other items, but not directly on the skin

  • Five tips to identify, avoid buying fake car parts

Five tips to identify, avoid buying fake car parts

The incidence of numerous counterfeit car parts flooding the market has become a serious problem in recent years. Counterfeit or imitation car parts typically aren’t very easy to spot because counterfeit part makers work long and hard to fool consumers. This makes it difficult to avoid them. However, there are a couple of things you can keep in mind to help you, at least to a reasonable extent, identify these fake car parts. These are things to help you identify and avoid counterfeit car parts.

    • Extremely Large Difference in Prices

Sometimes the cheapest deal isn’t always the best, especially when buying car parts. If you do your research and when in the market for parts you are given a price that is outrageously low, the car part is most likely fake. You should be suspicious.

    • Buy Your Parts from Authorized Dealers and Retailers

This might be a more expensive option but in the long run, it’s worth it. Most of us already know this but we still manage the cheap fake parts because they get our cars moving. However, though these fake parts temporarily fix the problem, they also cause bigger problems in the meantime. These fake parts are not built to your car’s specification, so they tend to lead to mechanical problems, system breakdowns and safety problems. Not to mention the fact that you still end up spending a fortune on them, because they don’t last long and need to be constantly replaced. It’s better to set your car aside while you save up for the original part or rework or fix the faulty part (if it can be fixed) rather than opting for cheap fake parts. However, avoid these ‘salvage parts’ for risky parts like distributor, alternator or brakes.

    • Check for Distinct Marks

In an attempt to check the activities of counterfeit part producers, some brands have now started affixing distinct marks on their car parts. This mark will assist you in distinguishing genuine products from counterfeit products. You can search online for information on these distinct marks or ask authorized dealers and retailers about it.

    • Inspect the Packaging

If the packaging appears flimsy and of a low quality, if it lacks a brand name or logo, has graphics or a name similar to but not the exact name of the original manufacturers you’re used to seeing, it’s most likely fake. Counterfeiters often try as much as possible to use the colours, artwork and type fonts similar to the original packing, but there would always be slight variations to give them away once they are properly inspected.

    • Get a Trustworthy Mechanic

Most times we tend not to buy these parts ourselves. Our mechanics handle the whole thing, we only give them money. Typically, it’s advisable that you are as involved as possible in the servicing or repair process of your car and if possible go along with these mechanics to purchase the parts so you can monitor their activities. However, this is not always possible, so you need to ask around, search diligently and find a mechanic you can trust, not a mechanic that will charge you for the price of the original part and then buy the fake part and pocket the leftover cash. Get a trustworthy mechanic who knows what he’s doing and is unlikely to extort you with fake parts.

  • Five effects of climate change

    Five effects of climate change

    By Dayo Mustapha

    · Greenhouse gas emissions

Greenhouse gases are gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. When the sun passes through the atmosphere, the greenhouse gases absorb the radiation and prevent the heat from leaving the atmosphere. This is known as the greenhouse gas effect.

Without greenhouse gases, the average temperature on Earth would be far too cold to sustain life. However, when we add more greenhouse gases to the atmosphere through human activity, this causes more of the sun’s energy to get trapped in the atmosphere, heating up the Earth and causing global warming.

    · Food security

Increasing temperatures are already affecting agricultural productivity, putting fruit and vegetable supplies at risk. Unpredictable precipitation patterns and more frequent extreme weather events are adding to disruptions in the food system.

    · Rainforest destruction major cause of carbon dioxide release

Trees and forests are known as ‘carbon sinks’, because they store carbon dioxide as they grow. When humans cut down rainforests or they are destroyed by wildfires, large amounts of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere. Global greenhouse gas emissions caused by humans are due to deforestation, comparable to the emissions from all of the passenger vehicles on the planet.

    · Destruction of coral reefs

Coral reefs are large underwater structures composed of the skeletons of colonial marine invertebrates called coral. In the last 30 years, half of the world’s coral reefs have died. Human activity, as well as increased temperatures, has contributed significantly to coral bleaching. When the water becomes too warm, the algae living in the coral’s tissues leave. Algae provides the coral with most of its energy, and so it needs algae to survive.

This impacts fish and other species that make these corals their home.
