Pastor Taiwo Odukoya gets first grandchild

It is a joyous season in the home of the Senior Pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya. It has been one piece of good news after the other for the Ijebu-born man on the pulpit. If he is not giving out his daughter’s hand in marriage, he is taking someone else’s daughter in marriage to his son.

The latest addition to the string of good reports in the abode of Pastor Odukoya is that Tolu Ijogun, her first daughter, whose hand was given in marriage to Olumide Ijogun in November last year, was delivered of a bouncing baby girl in the United States of America penultimate Sunday.

Needless to say that Pastor Odukoya was elated at the news that upgraded his status from just a father to a grandfather. The child’s christening was held last Sunday. The new mother, a chorister at his father’s church, was said to be doing fine with the baby.

Tolu got married to Olumide after a long period of off-and-on relationship, which began when they were students in Greensprings, an elite high school in Lagos. It was a wedding ceremony that was witnessed by notable men of God. Jimmy Odukoya, also a pastor, took the baton from Tolu and also tied the nuptial knots four months later.

Jay-Jay Okocha parts ways with associate

Former captain of the Super Eagles, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, is not in the best of moods at the moment. The dazzling footballer has parted ways with Lagos-based businessman, Friday Nwankwo-Kujah, who before now was widely regarded as Okocha’s Man Friday. Not only was Kujah Okocha’s best friend, the mercurial former midfielder was always willing to lend his ears to him on any issue. In fact, his businesses were said to have been entrusted into the hands of Kujah.

The trust between Okocha and Kujah was so legendary that the former would not argue with the latter or subject him to any scrutiny whenever he proposed any business idea. Hence, the two carried on as business associates for many years.

When the news of misunderstanding between them first broke, not a few people, particularly in the nation’s soccer circle, wondered what could have been responsible for it. Today, communication is said to have irretrievably broken down between the two so much so that they have resorted to litigation to sort out whatever is left of the ties between them.

    IG Abubakar shuns honeymoon

After a successful high-octane fathia (wedding) with his new wife, Zara Bunu, at Thisday Dome, followed by a sophisticated dinner at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, penultimate Saturday, many would expect that the media would soon feed them with tales of how the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, is enjoying a fairytale honeymoon in one of the world’s most exotic hotels.

But that was not to be. Celeb Watch gathered that the Zamfara-born IG returned to his desk at Louis Edet House, a couple of days after he walked down the aisle. Admirers of the nation’s number one cop can only wish him and his new wife a happy married life.

  • Aisha Babangida gets busy

    Aisha Babangida gets busy

Months have rolled into years since Aisha Babangida’s second shot at marriage with former Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi, caved in. The former First Lady of Zamfara State appears to have consigned that episode into the trash can of history. The best way out of her emotional cul-de-sac was to retrace her steps in search of happiness.

As such, the delectable daughter of former head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has gone back to the family business. Not one to be held down by the devastating blows of two crashed marriages at such a young age, Aisha was practically schooled in business management and she has since been deploying her skills to take some of her father’s businesses to new heights. She is also said to be doing well in oiling her mother’s NGO, Better Life for Rural Women. With the support of her father, plans are reportedly at advanced stage to restore the activities of the humanitarian organisation. Little wonder she has been off the social scene lately.

    Akintunde Ayeni joins golden club

It will take ages for memories of last Monday to fade away in the life of Prince Akintunde Ayeni, the Chairman of Yemkem International Group. Not that he has recorded another landmark trado-medical feat. On Monday, September 23, 2013, he clocked 50.

The Pathfinder, as he is fondly called by admirers, celebrated the day amidst glamour, colour and pageantry. The Ekiti-born chief executive officer of Pathfinder Hotels had many of his friends and associates on ground to celebrate with him.

Guests were treated to sumptuous meals. His wife, Princess Abiodun Ayeni, ensured that every guest had a swell time.

    Akintoba Fatigun set to serve

With his eyes and mind set on becoming the next Chairman of Ekiti Local Government in the forthcoming chairmanship elections in Kwara State, Akintoba Fatigun, has been moving across the length and breadth of the local government. The young dude is being touted as the new face of Ekiti Local Government politics with his people-centred ideas. Akintoba, a philanthropist in his early 40s, is said to be enjoying a lot of grassroots support from the people of the local government as well as the political class.

At a recent rally where he sold his manifesto to a section of the electorate, the people trooped out to register their support for the former aide of Senator Bukola Saraki, a former governor of the state. To achieve his dream, he has embarked on a rigorous campaign as his posters now dot the nooks and crannies of the council.

  • Mina Okoloko off social radar

    Mina Okoloko off social radar

Ever since she opened Fluid Lounge, a strictly champagne bar on Saka Tinubu Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Mina Okoloko appears to have taken a flight from the social sphere. The woman who loves to tread on roads that men dread has chosen to lie low for some time now.

Until her seeming sabbatical from the social scene, Mina was never a scarce face in the nation’s socio-economic space. Although she could not be described as a party freak, the Obafemi Awolowo University-trained-lawyer-turned entrepreneur was always seen at events involving top government functionaries and corporate players.

While many have attributed her silence to the toll that the current economic downturn must have taken on her chain of businesses, those who should know told Celeb Watch that the half Scot has only gone off the social radar to take stock of her recent investments with a view to re-strategising.

In fact, an inside source said Mina might unveil a new card off her sleeve towards the tail end of the year or early next year. For now, she seems to be enjoying life away from the public glare.

  • Seun Olagunju gets baby boy

    Seun Olagunju gets baby boy

These are happy times for the family of Seun Olagunju, the pretty newscaster on the NTA. In the Yoruba culture, the usual prayer during marital solemnisation is for the couple to be blessed with male and female children. But for Seun and her husband, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, only a part of the prayer had been answered on the three occasions that the couple had been blessed with female children. But a few days ago, the couple was blessed with a baby boy delivered at a hospital in the US.

For the Olagunjus, it has indeed been a season of celebrations. Only last month, Dr. Olagunju, Rivers State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), was promoted to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshal of the command. He had celebrated his golden age earlier in the year.

Dr Olagunju was twice the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Lagos and had also functioned in the same capacity in Kogi, Oyo and Adamawa states. He is an author of several books on road safety issues and also oversees the FRSC disciplinary court.
