    The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II exudes class, panache, allure, and sartorial elegance everywhere he goes.

    On Thursday, October 17, the Ojaja II turned 50, and dignitaries from all walks of life gathered to celebrate the esteemed monarch who holds the exclusive title of Arole Oodua.

    Leading the roll call of dignitaries who attended one of the lined-up activities for the 50th birthday celebrations was Her Excellency, the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu.

    The monarch began the celebrations with meaningful activities for the people of Ile-Ife and its environs.

    Earlier in the year, the monarch had, in conjunction with partners, declared open a world-class hospital in the Lekki area of Lagos.

    However, for his birthday, he unveiled the newly completed Ojaja Hostel, commissioned a 2.7-kilometer road, and a pavilion was also named in the honour of the First Lady, all at the Obafemi Awolowo University.

    Ooni, who doesn’t wear a wristwatch acknowledged his role as a father to all, and celebrated his birthday by impacting positively in the lives of the people and promoting socio-economic initiatives in collaboration with Nigerian youths.

    It won’t be out of place to spoil the monarch with 50 different garlands as he turns 50.

    Residents from Afao, Are, Iworoko, Orun, and Igbemo Ekiti are gearing up for a day of celebration, with royal fathers, community leaders, and local stakeholders expected to join in the festivities.

    According to those close to him, Fayose’s mission is clear – to provide much-needed support to those facing economic hardships and to empower the people of Ekiti.

    He recently outlined plans to replicate these charitable activities across all three geopolitical zones of the state, ensuring that no one is left behind.

    The event, set to kick off at 12 noon at the SUBEB Primary School in Afao Ekiti, is being hailed as a beacon of hope amid the ongoing challenges faced by many in the region.

    On Friday, October 18, Temitope Carter Ajayi, one of the media aides to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, hosted the creme de la crème of Lagos society, including government officials, to the burial ceremony of his departed and beloved father-in-law, Rev. Peter Aderemi Awomoyi.

    The remains of Ajayi’s father-in-law was committed to earth amidst pomp and glee as the transition ended an era.

    On August 31, 2024, Ajayi announced the passing of Rev. Awomoyi. His death comes exactly 20 years after the death of his wife.

    The two-day event commenced with a wake-keep at Rev Awomoyi’s residence in Lagos on Thursday, October 17, 2024, setting the stage for an extravagant commemoration. The commemorative events included lying in state at the deceased residence, a solemn church service on Friday morning, October 18, 2024, at Apostolic Faith Church, WECA Headquarters followed by a private interment ceremony at the Trumpet Shall Sound Cemetry, Faith City, Igbesa, Ogun State.

    The climax of the event was a grand reception held at the Blue Roof Events Centre in Agidingbi, Lagos State. Several guests and family members of the Awomoyi gathered at the event venue to celebrate the life of the distinguished reverend.

    Demonstrating her compassion for those in the justice system, Amb. (Dr) Gambo visited Suleja Prison and paid the fines of over 40 inmates who could not afford to pay their fines. This generous act enabled these individuals to regain their freedom and start anew.

    In her final outreach, Gambo visited the wives of Naval Ratings, donating foodstuffs to help alleviate the harsh economic conditions they face.

    Gambo’s selfless acts of kindness have not only brought joy and relief to many but also her Framazaz Foundation’s dedication to improving the lives of the vulnerable continues to inspire and uplift communities across Nigeria.

    A day before the award, Ononiwu had featured in the panel discussion at the Innovate Africa conference held at George Washington University where she spoke eloquently on how Africa must make progress in leadership, business, technology, arts and culture.

    Unknown to many, Cole founded the Behavioral Health Institute (BHI) in 2018 to address the critical gaps in mental health care in Nigeria, with the aim of improving access to care through technology and enhancing understanding of behavioural health disorders through research, Cole and his team have moved a step further.

    Cole, through BHI, has offered to provide mental health care, support and services to 1000 Nigerians between September and December 2024 at no cost.

    To this end, the Rivers State APC candidate in the last governorship election decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro alongside his son to raise awareness of the need for Nigerian youths to believe in the possibility of surmounting mental issues.

    In the same vein, Cole has also called on well-meaning Nigerians to join in raising funds to the tune of N500 million by year-end, in supporting and caring for Nigerian youths dealing with mental issues. The funds will provide free therapy/coaching for 1,000 Nigerian youths and contribute to training mental health professionals and integrating innovative technology solutions to widen the reach of care in Nigeria.

    Cole, it was further gathered, is not resting his oars on ensuring millions of Nigerians – especially youths – are cared for and given the needed support to surmount mental health issues without being stigmatised.
