The Lagos State commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, is one man, whose name is being discussed in different tones in Lagos State, Nigeria and beyond the shores of the country. And the reason for this is not concealed.

His decision to follow through with his principal’s plan on environment and water resources for a better Lagos has been why his name has been ringing bells across the metropolis.

Hence, it was not surprising when he made a significant impact on the education sector while he served as the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in his first term. Well known as one who never acts or makes decisions based on emotion, his legal training and association with some of the best heads in the country and beyond has always seen his actions being done on evidence and hard facts.

However, beyond the steely demeanour, and resolve to go through with the Governor’s plans for the state on environment, TW remains the kindest of all hearts. His benevolence reverberates across and beyond Lagos and the shores of Nigeria. A little bird chirped that though he’s feared by environmental law breakers, he has a weakness for sports and good music.

The birdy further chirped that at the sound of King Sunny Ade’s guitars or Ebenezer Obey’s tunes, TW finds it difficult not to sway to the sonorous voices and sounds of these two Juju legends. It was further disclosed that he’s an ardent supporter of Spanish professional football club, Real Madrid and at the mention of Hala Madrid, a smile curves up his lips. Another sport which keeps TW glued to the screens is Tennis and his favourite player at the moment remains the acclaimed king of clay, Rafael Nadal Parera.
