    Odeyemi royal family announces leadership restructure in Odo-Nla

    The Oba Odeyemi Royal Family has officially announced a major restructuring of the leadership of the Omo’ba Meta Royal Family in Odo-Nla Kingdom.

    The strategic move, it was gathered, was aimed at strengthening internal governance and ensuring more inclusive and effective representation of the Odo-Nla Kingdom at both local and state levels.

    Following a formal endorsement at the recent Omo’ba Meta executive meeting, Prince Oluseye Mobolade Adedipe, FCA, has been appointed as the new Olotu Omo’ba Meta (Family Head General) and will lead the family under the revered Oba Odeyemi Adeesho Ademuyewo a.k.a. Ofinran Royal lineage.

    Alongside Prince Adedipe, other esteemed individuals have been named official representatives of the royal family to the Ikorodu High Court and the Ikeja Chieftaincy Tribunal. They include Chief Shamsideen Shofolawe Bakare, Oluwo of Odo-Nla and Chief Sodiq Gbade Bakare, Raselu of Odo-Nla.

    The appointments pay tribute to the legacy of the late Otunba Afolabi Ekiyoyo, former Olotu Omo’ba Meta, whose leadership and devotion to the Odo-Nla community remain a guiding light.

    The royal family also expresses deep appreciation to Omotolani Ogunsami, the outgoing General Secretary, for his dedicated service. In his place, Prince Muritala Alade from the Upenyenwa lineage has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the Omo’ba Meta Royal Family.

    In a further step towards inclusive governance, the former G6 Executive Committee has been dissolved and reconstituted as the G11 Executive Committee, incorporating broader representation from all three ruling houses: Ogbodo, Raselu, and Upenyenwa.

    The newly formed G11 Executive Committee includes: Olotu Omo’ba Meta – Family Head (General), Olotu Ogbodo, Olotu Raselu, Olotu Upenyenwa, Treasurer, General Secretary, Omo’ba Meta, Oloye Ogbodo, Oloye Raselu, Oloye Upenyenwa, Oluwo of Odo-Nla, Apena of Odo-Nla.

    Dr. Pat Oramah has embarked on a new journey with Rotary Sapphire in Abuja. Following his emergence as the new President of the Rotary Club Abuja Sapphire, Oramah, has pledged to focus on a National Drive for Hepatitis C Elimination as one of the key programmes during his tenure.

    Speaking after his investiture,. Oramah described Hepatitis C as a silent killer, despite the fact that it is preventable, curable yet underdiagnosed. He listed the two other priorities of his tenure as Polio Eradication in line with the global focus of Rotary International and combatting Diabetes through early detection and awareness creation.

    Describing Diabetes as a growing yet often overlooked health crisis that continues to claim lives, especially in underserved communities where access to routine screenings and preventive healthcare is limited.

    He said Rotary Sapphire will, through Strategic Community Outreach, offer free screenings, educational campaigns, and interactive health sessions to raise awareness about the risk factors and early signs of diabetes.

    He also said they would partner with local healthcare providers to provide a sustainable support system for those diagnosed with Diabetes.

    Oramah thanked the immediate past President Barr. Oby Onwukeme and her team for their commendable leadership and dedicated service, adding that his team’s goal for the rotary year was not just for continuity, but for bold action that moves Nigeria closer to a hepatitis-free future.

    Idris Olorunnimbe is one personality who has mastered humility in public and private service over the last decade or more. The youthful head honcho of The Temple Company group and Ogidi Studios has been constantly evolving since the companies were berthed in 2016.

    The young creative and one-time aide to former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, is always making giant strides with every opportunity and constantly spotting opportunities that many don’t see. Hence, it’s not surprising that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has found him worthy of service to Nigeria again. Earlier in the year, Olorunnimbe was appointed the Board Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), but months after, he was recalled, after which the President tasked him with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

    Upon his appointment, the NCC welcomed and congratulated Olorunnimbe on his appointment. It is believed that Olorunnimbe, alongside other members of the board, will bring to bear their wealth of knowledge, strategic insight, and strong governance to enhance the regulatory work of the Commission.

    Olorunnimbe, who is the Asoju Oba of Iru land, had previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee and drove impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship programmes.

    These are the best of times for Chief Livinus Okawara, the founder of Rimax Institute of Technology, Lagos. The octogenarian has been listed for the conferment of the traditional title of ”Father of the Ibo in Diaspora” by the Ndigbo in Lagos.

    Barring any last minute-changes, the conferment will be held any time soon.

    Although his people had honoured him in the past, especially the Ohanaeze in Lagos, among others, this new title seems to excite Chief Okawa for many reasons.

    For the grandfather and notable educationist, one reason is that the title will enable him to minister to the numerous needs of not only his people but also other Nigerians abroad.

    Age and capital seem not to be his problems, as he not only has a deep pocket for the task ahead, but also has his people behind him to enable him succeed. Above all, he is very passionate about his work.

    Okwara, who speaks Ibo and Yoruba fluently, sees the assignment as a home match.

    He is optimistic too that with his Midas touch that saw his chain of businesses flourish, all will be well. After all, nothing is difficult to the willing mind.

    A moment for Onyibe’s daughter, Sopuluchukwu

    It was a celebration of gratitude, pride, and laughter as Sopuluchukwu, daughter of renowned public policy analyst and media columnist Magnus Onyibe, completed her Master’s in Financial Innovation and Technology (MFIT) from Queen’s University in Canada.

    Though the academic finish line was crossed in December, it was on June 26th that everything became gloriously real. Clad in academic regalia, Sopuluchukwu stood tall at her graduation ceremony.

    In attendance were friends and family including her mother, Helen and her younger sister, Ebubechukwu who currently works at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Los Angeles, California. Ebube is also preparing to begin law school in the next academic session.

    For Sopuluchukwu, this was not her first academic feat. Years ago, she earned a degree in Computer Science from the University of Guelph, laying a solid foundation for a career in software engineering. Currently, she is working with the SunLife Group in Canada but this new chapter, marked by her MFIT degree, is not just an academic achievement. It is a testament to her ability to marry logic and vision in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

    A celebratory dinner was held in her honor at Muni Robata, a Japanese restaurant in downtown Toronto. Friends of Sopuluchukwu praised her hard work, determination, and resilience in completing the demanding program with distinction.

    During the dinner, her father, Magnus Onyibe, reminded her that “the reward for hard work is more work,” and encouraged her to consider pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI). His suggestion was met with a mix of applause and gentle resistance.

    He stressed that the decision ultimately rests with Sopuluchukwu, expressing full confidence in her ability to critically evaluate her options and choose the path that best aligns with her goals. In anticipation of her approval, her father plans to obtain a PhD application form for her as he await her decision.
