    Taiwo Odukoya’s silent battles

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya might have been cut short by the dreaded grim reaper at the age of 68 but his legacies still live on.

While he was alive, he ensured he left an indelible footmark in the lives of anyone that crosses his path. He took the evangelism of God as a top priority preaching the length and breadth of the world. He was a man who believed in himself and the power of his intelligence, more reason he was a minister who preached the gospel and also a teacher of the word.

His death a few days ago came as a big shock to Christendom because he was a lively man who takes things easy. He is not moved by frivolities; all he wants is to preach and do the work of God.

During his lifetime, he also faced lots of challenges. Despite being a pastor he also fought silent battles. Some he won while he lost some but in the face of his travails he never for once derailed or questioned his creator; instead he was always thankful to God for blessing him with good people around him.

When his wife of 22 years Pastor Bimbo Odukoya died in the Ill-fated Sosoliso Airline in 2005, the whole world came crumbling as he struggled to live with the fact that his delectable lovely wife had left him behind with the kids.

The death threw him off balance but with the help of people and the congregation, he was able to bounce back and forged ahead. After then he married a new wife Nomthi for eleven years but also lost her to a two-year battle with cancer in 2021. This we also gathered weighed him down and was struggling to get over the fact that he has lost his second wife.

Rather than feel deterred, he became strong and built his faith. He saw his travails as a trial phase that would be over. While he was still recovering from that loss, the death of his twin sister Kehinde Hassan was announced as a result of cancer which further threw him off the table.

While the Fountain of Life church pastor was struggling to deal with the loss and also trying to recover from the fact that he had lost three women who meant a lot to him in his life, it was so hard to get over.

Pastor Odukoya often mentioned in his sermons that adversity can break or make a person. Drawing from his own experiences, he exemplified how deep-rooted faith in God could provide the strength to rise from any adversity. While many would have been consumed by bitterness or despair after enduring such personal tragedies, Pastor Odukoya channeled his pain into purpose.

Perhaps, sitting him down to ask questions about his humble beginning will further enlighten you on who he really is.

While growing up, he learned the rudiments of doing business from his wealthy father Alhaji Isyaku Rabiu. And some of the things he learned which he has inculcated in his dealings are truthfulness, integrity, prudence, fidelity and the ability to play by the rules not beating the corners.

So when the news of his alleged involvement in illicit forex dealing with the central bank since 2016 started to generate buzz, many waved it off with the back of their hand because they knew it was an imaginary concoction by some ‘bloggers’ who have constantly engaged in campaign of calumny to disparage and cast aspersions on his person. Those who are afraid of his astronomic rise in the business space since he also moved up in the billionaire ranking a few weeks ago are behind the campaign of calumny. From findings, it was gathered that neither BUA Group nor Abdulsamad Rabiu received any foreign exchange allocations from the CBN during the indicated period.

It was also gathered that every forex transaction the company carried out was in compliance with CBN’s regulations. Society Rendezvous also gathered that all forex transactions by banks in 2016, were published publicly in national newspapers with records, still accessible today that provide unequivocal evidence that counters these false allegations.

A source says the author of the alleged story is notoriously known for cyberstalking and no matter how hard they go ASR is unperturbed and unruffled.
