PDP accuses Akeredolu of spending N500m on in-law’s concert

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has accused Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of spending  N500 million for a musical concert anchored by the governor’s son in-law, Michael Olatunde.

It alleged that the money was paid through the Ministry of Information without any committee set up for the event and approval from the State Executive Council.

The party also alleged that the concert was hurriedly put together to patronise a daughter of Governor Akeredolu.

Spokesman for the PDP, Kennedy Peretei, alleged in a statement that 13 companies were being used by the Ondo State first family to receive contracts from the ministries and departments.

He said the companies had the same or related directors and secretary according to records of the Corporate Affairs Commission in Abuja.

Peretei alleged: “The explanations of inability to pay salaries because of lean resources of the state can no longer suffice.

“It is difficult to assume that this looting is going on without Akeredolu’s permission or knowledge.

“Whichever way, if this continues, the people will chase him and his family out of the Government House soon.”

Information and Orientation Commissioner Donald Ojogo said a responsible government does not descend into the arena of perfidy and frivolities triggered by idleness, to trade words.

He said it was not the first time the opposition party would cry in a mindless manner.

“Of course, you don’t expect a child not to cry when flogged. The PDP must be seen to be saying something, at least. We can only sympathise with them even though we won’t share in their self-inflicted pains.”

Aregbesola-Oyetola feud: Osun lawmakers solicit Adeboye’s help

The Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, and eight lawmakers elected on the platform of the All Progressives; Congress (APC)  have visited the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye over the feud between Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

The Nation gathered that the APC lawmakers visited Pastor Adeboye during the week at Redemption Camp soliciting for the help of the clergyman to broker peace between the incumbent and his predecessor.

A source who confided in our correspondent said: “The visit was led by the Speaker and they sought Baba’s help to help broker peace to guarantee and sustain the development of Osun. Baba appreciated the visit and the Speaker’s team’s initiative to resolve the issues. He stressed however that though he is not a politician, he will be guided by the scripture that said blessed are peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. The General Overseer prayed for his visitors before they departed for Osogbo.”

Similarly, when the Media Aide of the Speaker, Mr. Kunle Alabi, was contacted about the development, he explained that “the speaker has been a regular visitor at the Redemption Camp and was even with the revered clergyman at Igbajo in December for a programme.

“Well, I was aware of the meeting but I am not privy to what was discussed. However, the speaker is a party man to the core and would stop at nothing, including, enlisting Baba Adeboye’s help to resolve the crisis, towards ensuring that APC is victorious during July 2022 governorship election.

“So, if such matter was discussed, it is not out of order. Baba Adeboye is an Ijesa man, Aregbesola is an Ijesa man, so also is the speaker. Moreover, Baba is from Osun and an elder stateman to that effect, so, he fit to be sought after”, he said.

Kasali said: ‘’We killed him because of Faruk who had lied to his mother that he was coming to Lagos from Ilorin for a show and he is going to collect the sum of N200,000 for the show because we are hip-hop artistes; my stage name is Jayfrosh while Farouk is Zeelight. There was no show, it was a lie so we were both staying in the church hoping that we would get a free show to attend where we can get money since we are in December, a festive period.

‘’Faruk’s mum later called him to come back home in Ilorin because she was sick and she needed him around, so we had to find a way to get the N200,000 he had promised his mum he would get from the show.

‘’So on that day, on the 2nd of December the pastor was in the church so we went upstairs, I took a plank and my friend ( Farouk) took a bottle and we went up to the pastor so my friend threw the bottle at him while I hit him on the neck with the plank I was holding. The Pastor died immediately, we took his bag and ran away immediately. Farouk on his own part, said he regretted their action saying: ” I do not feel good about what we have done. When we did what we did, we did not know whether the pastor had money or not, we really didn’t mean to kill the pastor. I have been doing music since 2014, I just thought I would be able to get shows by coming to Lagos”.

According to the CP Odumosu, the exhibits used in perpetuating in act were recovered from the scene.

” The suspects, after committing the murderous act, absconded to unknown places. However, following intensive and discreet investigation, they were arrested in their hideouts. While Farouk was arrested in Ilorin, Kwara state, Jamiu Kasali was arrested in Festac Area of Lagos
