  • We can regulate ourselves – lghele

We can regulate ourselves – lghele

General Superintendent, Holy Spirit Mission (Happy Family Centre) and the Chairman, Financial Accounting Governance Committee of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Charles Ighele, spoke to Adeola Ogunlade on the amended CAMA and the need for Christian bodies to self regulates.

Whats’s your take on the CAMA ACT?

I have not really had time to read through the 600 page documents which contains the Company and Allied Matters Act of 2020, but I have gone through some sections of it. Generally, the aim of the law was to make doing business more pleasurable for people in business. The general aim is for ease in doing business. From what I have found out from the law, it contains some provisions which were not in the former law, which has been amended now. These provisions are okay, owing to advancement in technology, with the new law, you can hold a virtual general meeting through Zoom and it will be binding.

There is also provision for electronic filing of documents, which can be tendered in court and accepted, reduction of filing fees, provision to rescue businesses that are distressed, which is good; having a common seal is no longer compulsory, provision of a single member shareholder of a company, which makes it possible for just one man to be the shareholder of a company. These are provisions that are good. I believe that those who came up with this looked at what is obtainable in other countries and tried to make Nigeria to upgrade. That is the general intention of the law.

The aspect I don’t like however the aspect of treating churches like companies. That is not done anywhere in the world. Churches are not treated like companies; they are given some respect and honour. They are not seen as profit-making organizations. There is no way any Christian leader who really belongs to Jesus Christ will support the part of the act that has to do with churches.

The immediate cause of the review of that Act stemmed from the IPOB and it’s activities. The government is lamenting that because IPOB is registered, it became a challenge for the government to deregister the organization since the agenda they stated at the time they were registered is not the same as what they are doing today?

Well, if that is the excuse, it cannot be tenable. It is just like saying someone commits a crime and everybody in the country is arrested for the crime. If an organisation was registered and is not doing what it was registered for, then there should be a provision in the law to take the matter to court, then the CAC will now deregister that organisation. So, it goes beyond IPOB issue. When they are saying that they can suspend the trustees of a church and appoint new trustees for the church, I don’t know how that can work. These are spiritual bodies for God’s sake. This is not Oceanic or Intercontinental bank. These are not businesses but spiritual bodies.

If these bodies establish banks, then the same laws that apply to banks should be used on the banks established by such a church. The church as organisation should be left alone to be run the way the bible said it should be run. There is a way the bible said the church should be run and when any government official tries to do otherwise, it is not good at all. That person is kicking against the bricks. I don’t like it and no church leader should like this.

When you look at some other provisions of the act, it’s like the church is now under the control of the Registrar General of CAC, that shouldn’t be. The act also provides that these people can appoint interim manager or managers to operate the affairs of the church. That can’t be. It also states that any mismanagement of the affairs of the organisation or fraudulent behavior as far as the church is concerned, and then it is necessary to deal with such organization in public interest. But who determines public interest?

When you look at the law as it affects the church, you look at how Hitler, step-by-step removed people’s freedom in Germany. He did it in public interest, but what is public interest? The government has gotten it completely wrong, and as far as I am concerned, this law should be amended immediately. It came to us as a surprise. It was already out before I got to know about it, which is not fair at all. I believe that when a law is being made in a democracy, the people that the law should affect are supposed to be called upon to bring their input, it is called public hearing. A law like this should not be done the way it had been handled. It did not go through the process. This is like a coup by the government of Nigeria against the government of the church.

Churches in the western world are expected to be involved in essential service and members who are paying their tithe faithfully are given tax waivers, do you think that CAMA will help to achieve this in Nigeria?

If we are practicing democracy, let us copy the democracy in full. We are not practicing democracy here, we are still learning. Moreover different nations make certain laws that affect the church from their cultural background. Now, if you want to hold the church accountable financially, which is okay, my position, and am suggesting is that this law should not see the light of the day, it should be amended. Though, I don’t like the recklessness of some church leaders. You don’t spend tithe and offering as if is your money, if you do, you are a thief. If the church says, this is your financial entitlement as a pastor, so let it be, dipping your hands into the church fund is very wrong. I have been an advocate on this. I have been an advocate of registration of churches. I have been talking about this. The church should regulate itself. Just as Nigeria Bar Association, Nigeria Medical Association was register as an Act of Parliament in, Nigeria. If a doctor or a lawyer misbehaves, it is not the government that will deal with the lawyer, but the association. Then, government will now not recognize the doctor when his license has being withdrawn or suspended. Let there be an Act of Parliament for the church to regulate itself. So, these charlatans as pastor are kicked out. Every pastor should have a license. You cannot just come up and go and mess up people’s spiritual lives and marriages. It is not enough for anyone who think he has spiritual gifts and set up a church and mess up people’s spiritual lives and marriages. They should be order. Things cannot continue this way. We don’t have respect again as church leaders. Anyone can just come up and called him or herself pastor. It is on this premise that the presence leadership of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria sat over this matter and agreed that things are not okay at all. PFN has started the process of self-regulation.

….And you have been mandated to chair this process?

Yes, I am the chairman of the Financial Accounting Governance Committee. We have submitted our report and the President of PFN is to come up with how we can regulate ourselves. Please, leave us alone, we know how we can regulate ourselves and remove the bad eggs among us. This law should never be allowed to see the light of the day. It will affect both the Pentecostals and orthodox churches. If we keep quiet, we will do the church of God a great disservice.

Should the Christian Association of Nigeria go to court or put more pressure on the government to revoke the ACT

I am not a combatant. My own is to see solution to problem. I want solution to problem. Let there be discussion with the president. Let there be no fight or war concerning this matter. Let these things be resolve. I don’t think the President went through the 600 CAMA documents. Somebody somewhere might have infused it the sessions in contention into the document. Let me tell you, there is party politics. The next general election, it will become a major issue. During the past elections, some people were saying that APC has a Muslim agenda. I know they don’t have any Muslim agenda, it is just party politics. Now, the next campaign, it will be difference. The Act states that government can remove the General Overseer of a church. Those Christians who are saying that there is no Islamic agenda may be force to believe that there is one because no General Overseer of Head of Churches want the government to pick the member of the Board of Trustees, nor will they want government to set up a management body to manage the church. If this law is not amendment, there will be dangerous religious dimension in the next election. I can see all GO mobilizing their members to boycott the next election. So, to avoid such religious dimension, let those who love the President, let them put pressure that it should be remove. Let APC leaders put pressure on the Presidents to revoke this Act as it may stop their chances in the next general election. There is no way any church leader is going to support such law. It will not work. Politically, for the APC, it is suicided.

  • Exploring the demands for financial dominion!

Exploring the demands for financial dominion!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Exploring the Demands for Financial Dominion!

From Scriptures, we discovered that we are blessed primarily to be a blessing after the order of Abraham. Then, as we become a blessing, blessings will keep multiplying over and again in our lives. As it is written, And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed (Genesis 12:3). Therefore, if we don’t know why we are blessed, we may soon become unblessed (Proverbs 3:10). Also, according to Scriptures, it was clear that Jesus walked practically in financial dominion. He was asked for tax and He said, Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee (Matthew 17:27). Remember, we live in a Kingdom that is ruled by mysteries. The Bible says, And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables (Mark 4:11). Mysteries are divine secrets embedded in Scriptures and when discovered, they go a long way to reposition us for dominion (Ephesians 3:1-5). Mysteries may not make sense to the natural mind but they confer mastery on the lives of believers. They always appear too simple to be true but in that simplicity lies the power of God and they are often authenticated by testimonies not arguments.  Giving is one of the mysteries of the Kingdom. For instance, the Bible says, Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38). It is simple, yet its returns cannot be denied.

To Walk in the Realms of Financial Fortune, the Following Demands are Required:

    • We must have a Grateful Heart: A grateful heart is a requirement for walking in financial dominion. This was illustrated in the life of Jesus when He feed the five thousand men, minus women and children. He engaged the mystery of thanksgiving and there was supernatural multiplication. The Bible records, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost (John 6:9, 11-12). Thanksgiving is a multiplier of grace. The more thankful we are, the more of the grace of God we enjoy. When something is not sufficient for what is required, we should give thanks (Jeremiah 30:19). Only a joyful heart guarantees harvest from seed sown. Hence, to walk in financial dominion we must rejoice always.
    • We must give in Love: Giving is the gateway to a world of financial dominion. As it is written, Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38). And in response to our giving, the Bible says, And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). However, we discovered that love is what empowers us to give continuously, tirelessly and sacrificially. For example, the Bible says, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Nothing empowers giving like love; on the other hand, it is the giving grace that empowers us to command financial dominion. It is written, But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish His covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day (Deuteronomy 8:18). Thus, while love empowers our giving life, it is our giving that empowers us for wealth which ultimately translates to financial dominion. However, not just love but the love of God burning in our hearts. Remember, it is the love of God that overflows through us to the world around (1Corinthians 2:9; 1 John 3:14-18). Note that every testimony of financial fortune is rooted in the sacrificial giving of men.

In conclusion, there are conditions to commit God’s integrity for delivery. As listed earlier, we must have a grateful heart and give in love in order to walk effortlessly in financial dominion. Therefore, we can only commit God on His terms, not ours. New birth is our access to this realm of financial dominion. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! Actress-turned evangelist, Joy Edjeren, has explained why she had to quit acting for evangelism.

The promising actress and singer, who had featured in several movies, said she left the entertainment industry because “there is a lot of abomination on screen and behind the scene in the life of those in the entertainment industry.”

The Benue-born evangelist stated that an encounter with Jesus Christ “opened my eyes.”

    Joy Edjeren

“It was pleasant in that many people respected me and doors were opening to me as I believe my talent was taking me to places, but somehow, it seems as if an upper hand kept redirecting me away from it.

“I did not understand why until my encounter with the Lord,” she said while describing her experience in the industry.

She said since she left the industry she has ministered in outreaches and has been engaged in Christian productions.

Her exit from the entertainment industry was shocking, leaving her fans high and dry.

  • CAMA: A coup against Christianity, says Iginla

CAMA: A coup against Christianity, says Iginla

    Our Reporter

The General Overseer of Champions Royal Assembly, Brother Joshua Iginla has reacted to the Company Acts And Allied Matters (CAMA) bill signed into law by the President Of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari some weeks ago.’

Under the law, religious bodies, and charity organisations will be strictly regulated by the registrar-general of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a supervising minister.

Section 839 (1) and (2) of the CAMA law provides that the commission may by order, suspend the trustees of an association or a religious body and appoint an interim manager or managers to coordinate its affairs where it reasonably believes that there has been any misconduct or mismanagement, or where the affairs of the association are being run fraudulently or where it is necessary or desirable for the purpose of public interest.

While reacting to this development, Iginla blamed some church leaders for creating division in Christianity, hereby allowing the government to trample on churches without fear.

He lambasted them for having unnecessary doctrinal argument when there are other issues to deal with

‘One of the reasons the body of Christ in Nigeria is having problem is because we don’t know our capacity. We have lost focus and spent time having doctrinal argument. We are the light of Nigeria.

If we want to ensure that a Christian becomes the president of this country, we have the capacity but we are so self-centered and divided that we are running to people that should be running to us, everything doesn’t end in prayer, there are things we don’t need prayer for in Nigeria. We have the capacity to strengthen things but the church has lost her tastes. We are in days when we no longer attack the devil but ourselves.

The reason people from other religion will continue to do better is because they understand their capacity.

If as a Christian leader, you are corrupt or found wanting, you should be dealt with but I disagree that someone will propound a law into a spiritual entity. Its because the church is asleep. Last year, I prophecied that the church will face persecution because the church is asleep’

READ ALSO: FG motive behind CAMA wrong – Bishop Kaigama

Also, Iginla made his stand known on the CAMA law, explaining that the law is a coup against Christianity and that some pastors are ready to die to prevent the law from being implemented on churches.

He maintained that the church was built by the labour of pastors and appointment of trustees who know nothing about the growth of the church, the affairs of the church is highly condemnable

‘’Do you know what it took some of us to labor to grow a church up to this level and someone will say he will appoint a trustee over the Church. You don’t even know how the church came about. If a pastor is corrupt, let him face the law and go to jail but appointing a trustee? Some of us are ready to die before you do that to us, it is absolutely wrong.

Do you know why it is happening like this? Because the church isn’t feared.

How do you make a law for the church? You change the trustee and put your own trustees? When has some organization become a spiritual entity? Are you about to preach, do deliverance, in what capacity will you control the church? Make laws that prevent men of God from being corrupt and if they are corrupt, take them to court but putting your trustees is a coup against the church’’

Furthermore, He advised the government to divert its attention and energy into fight against corruption in the government

‘Sometime I laugh. Thank God for this government and what they are doing, but I must say their energy must be channeled on the right thing. Those who have looted our money and sent our children to live in penury, those governors that have embezzled money should be sent to jail. Its only in my country that those who are fighting corruption are even corrupt. Money that was spent on Covid-19 , how many got it? Those who are in charge should be sent to jail. Leave the church alone. We are not government. If any pastor is found looting with the government, send him to jail but hunting the church is the last place of priority in the fight against corruption.

“The government should intensify efforts against those ones. These are people we should use as scapegoats. I am not saying they should not look into the church, look into it but appointing a trustee in the church is wrong. If anyone is appointed to take my sit in my church, except the Lord hasn’t anointed me, He or she will not live to see the next seven days’’.

  • I stand with CAN on CAMA- Kasali

I stand with CAN on CAMA- Kasali

    Our Reporter

Senior Pastor of the Foundation of Truth Assembly (FOTA), Rev Yomi Kasali, has aligned with the position of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on the contentious Company and Allied Matters Acts (CAMA) 2020.

Kasali, in a statement on Monday, explained he granted a media interview on the Acts before CAN came up with its position.

Since CAN has spoken, the chairman of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission(NCPC), said: “I will not at any time want to go contrary to the position the organisation I belong to has gone. I may have a different opinion as a person but that at this point will not matter as that of CAN supersedes mine.”

He added: “The interview was done before I had a cursory look at the provisions of the CAMA law.

READ ALSO: CAMA: Of a city set on the hill

“Therefore it is pertinent to rescind my statement that implied that the government can at will remove a trustee if that trustee is found culpable of misconduct as that is not in line with the section 839(2) of the CAMA 2020 which states that the CAC can only take over the trusteeship by a court order.

“Every other opinion expressed in this interview are personal and do not represent that of the Foundation of Truth Assembly.”

  • T.B. Joshua made Israeli ‘Tourism Goodwill Ambassador’

T.B. Joshua made Israeli ‘Tourism Goodwill Ambassador’

    By Robert Egbe

The General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet T.B. Joshua said he was named ‘Tourism Goodwill Ambassador For Israel’, following last year’s crusade in the Middle Eastern country.

Joshua released a documentary on YouTube detailing the ‘persecution’ he endured during his visit to Nazareth, followed by a ‘national award’ presented to him by the Israeli Ministry of Tourism Yariv Levin.

In June 2019, Joshua held a two-day event in the historic hometown of Jesus Christ, which attracted thousands of religious tourists from across the globe.

However, the event held at the Amphitheatre of Mount Precipice was fiercely criticised by local religious figures and nearly faced cancellation due to the intensity of attacks.

“This man is only promoting lies, and anyone who follows this liar is unjust. That is why we ban our people from attending,” a representative for the Christian Church and Pastoral Council in Nazareth stated in the lead-up to the event.

“This visit that is going to be held by this antichrist and wizard – we, the Islamic movement – completely reject it,” noted Osama Haha, the head of the Islamic Movement in Nazareth.

“Jesus warned us there would be false prophets coming. We do not know where this man is coming from or the purpose behind everything he does,” stated Father Seaan Bajali, a Roman Orthodox Priest.

“Boycotting the sorcerer Zionist is a national and religious duty,” the Executive Committee of the Orthodox Forum said in a statement.

A protest was even organised with hundreds trouncing through the city in Northern Israel with placards decrying the coming event and people shouting: “Let this witch get away from us!”

Despite the ‘noise’ surrounding the event, it was held successfully with Joshua preaching a message on love and ministering “healing and deliverance in Jesus’ name” to the large crowds that gathered.

“Love for fellow man breaks down all barriers. It melts all hindrances. It dissolves prejudice, misunderstanding, and suspicion,” he preached in a sermon whilst a local mosque blared out via a loudspeaker, “Do not participate with this wizard.”

A group of religious figures even visited the venue of Mount Precipice after the event and performed a ‘cleansing ritual’ with water, leaves, and salt.

However, interviews with local figures after the event revealed a markedly different impression, with residents celebrating the economic and social impact of Joshua’s visit to the region and calling for him to return for future events.

“This is the first time in 2,000 years we have heard the name of Jesus proclaimed publicly in Nazareth,” stated a tearful Nazarene Christian.

The event, which was broadcast on local television throughout Israel and featured in The New York Times and Reuters, subsequently attracted the attention of Israel’s Ministry of Tourism, which gave an award to the Nigerian cleric and made him a ‘Tourism Ambassador’.

“TB Joshua, on the occasion of your visit to Israel, I am honoured to recognise you as a true friend of Israel. Thank you for your support and solidarity, which are deeply appreciated. It is my pleasure to name you as a ‘Tourism Goodwill Ambassador For Israel’,” wrote Minister Levin.

“You only need to hear ‘Go!’ from above. Who are you to say no? When God says yes, no one can say no! The noise of the north and south, the noise of the east and west do not matter. It only promotes,” Joshua explained in an interview accompanying the documentary.

Joshua is the first ‘Evangelical Pastor’ to have held a public event in Nazareth; the only other religious figure to have had such an event was Pope Benedict XVI in 2009.

Reacting to the documentary, followers of Joshua were quick to salute his courage, opining that such degree of attacks would easily discourage those of lesser faith.
“It depends on who sent you,” the prominent cleric concluded. “Above all powers; above all kings. What can man do? Can man stop God? No. Capital NO!”

  • Ayodele blasts CAN on CAMA

    Ayodele blasts CAN on CAMA

    By Sina Fadare

Founder of INRI Evangelical Church Primate Babatunde Ayodele has taken a swipe at the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for not preventing the emergence of the newly signed Company and Allied Matters Acts (CAMA) 2020.

Ayodele spoke at the weekend during the presentation of two books on his previous and present prophesies from 1994 to date.

He lamented CAN has suddenly become an appendage of government to the extent that it’s a lame duck that cannot bite.

According to him, the association went to sleep when it was supposed to be a front-burner in kicking against the CAMA bill, which was recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“I do not believe in the leadership of CAN. It’s like the can of the soft drink you buy, drink and throw the empty can into the dust bin,” he fumed.

The prophet also condemned Buhari for signing CAMA into law, noting it was the greatest error he would commit in the recent past.

READ ALSO: CAN failed Christians on CAMA, says cleric

He said the government cannot implement the law because it is a clear declaration of war against the church.

“Where is the government when l was building my church from the beginning? They now wanted to reap where they did not sow.

“l see that the government is still sleeping, they will soon come out of their slumber,” he said.

On COVID- 19, Ayodele pointed out that unless leaders come back to God who has a simple solution, the world will keep chasing a shadow.

“Vaccine or no vaccine, the pandemic has come to stay, the only answer to this crisis is God. Without returning to him, all our leaders are just joking.

No government in Nigeria wants the pandemic to go because they are feeding fat on it. There is enormous corruption woven round it.

“All the world leaders have dared God and they must be ready to face the consequences,” he stated.

  • ‘The Church has grown since lockdown’

‘The Church has grown since lockdown’

As Lagos and Ogun State Government announced the reopening of churches on August 9 and 14 respectively, The Coordinator of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Ikeja Central Province, Pastor Tope Illesanmi speaks on the post COVID-19 changes and worshippers reaction to the recent reopening of worship centres in Lagos. Excerpts by ADEOLA OGUNLADE

Churches in Lagos reopen on Sunday 9 August; however, worshippers have complained about the inconveniences of wearing face mask. What can be done about this?

We give praise to God for the eventual reopening of churches in Lagos State. Kudos to our amiable state leaders of CAN for their relentless engagement with the state government. The use of Mask was quite a big discomfort,  but the joy of fellowshipping with brethren you haven’t seen for over four months doused the effect of that discomfort. Surprisingly, not all churches reopened on August 9. Some churches took time to prepare for a comeback service in grand style the following Sunday. Some are even yet to reopen.

Similarly, some are also saying the guidelines and restrictions is taking away their freedom to worship; is the church losing its freedom to worship?

Let’s learn from the wisdom applied by some churches in Ikeja. A lot of churches in Ikeja Province went beyond  fumigation, hand washing, sanitizing and nose mask to purchase sizeable Fog Atomizing Sanitizing Machine. With this machine, and the recommended chemical, no virus, germs, bacteria can survive in such a Church. Hence, use of masks was irrelevant until after service when Congregants were returning home. The freedom and enthusiasm of Worship is also made possible. However, some restrictions actually implied infringement on the right of Worship.

As expected, compliance level was high in the city centre; can we hold same for rural churches?

Thank God for the compliance level in the city. If the government got no compliance in the rural areas, then it’s her fault. Because, there is little or no presence of compliance force in those places.

What lessons have you taken from the  lockdown?

The bible says in Acts 8:1-8 and I quote: “Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the  church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all  scattered throughout the regions of Judea and  Samaria, except the apostles.  And devout men  carried Stephen to his burial, and made great  lamentation over him.  As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering  every house, and dragging off men and women,  committing them to prison.   Christ Is Preached in Samaria. Therefore those who were scattered went  everywhere preaching the word.  Then Philip went  down to the a city of Samaria and preached Christ to  them. And the multitudes with one accord heeded the  things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the  miracles which he did.  For unclean spirits, crying  with a loud voice, came out of many who were  possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame  were healed. And there was great joy in the city”

Whatever happens, Nigerians will navigate through. Necessity is the mother of invention. Some people in authority seems to be fiddling with the church, but I assure them that their payback time is near except they repent. King Herod tried it, he was eaten by maggots! Persecution is the strength of the Church, so the Church has grown higher than where she was before the lockdown.

Myself, the children (biological and spiritual) and grandchildren all call you blessed indeed. 38 years gone, forever to go with you. I love you.”

You are blessed to be a blessing!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: You Are Blessed to Be A Blessing!

Today, the world is facing the worst economic crisis in history and according to Scriptures, this is only the beginning. However, we must understand that despite the current economic crisis in the world, it is possible to still live a financially stress-free life. This is because God has ordained that His covenant people be exempted and distinguished with wealth in this world of financial gloom. The good news is that you are one of such persons ordained to be envied not to be pitied. You are a king ordained to reign on the earth. You are not a slave or a beggar on the street; you are a source of blessing to multitudes. So, stop carrying the mentality of being a burden, stop thinking about who will help you but focus on God, the custodian of wealth. That is why I know that every everlasting financial mountain that may be staring at you, must come to an end today!

First, let us begin with the understanding that we are blessed to be a blessing to our world. As it is written, Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate (1 Timothy 6:17-18). What that means is that we are blessed primarily to be a channel of blessings to our world and for the promotion of God’s Kingdom.

The subject of wealth in the Kingdom is not an attainment, endowment or entitlement. Wealth in the Kingdom is essentially an entrustment. God’s blessing is only accessible to the people He can trust. No wonder Jesus said, If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches (Luke 16:11; see also Matthew 25:40). This means that Kingdom wealth is entrusted to us as stewards so that it can be applied to advance His agenda on the earth. Therefore, we are enriched to enrich others and we are blessed to be a blessing. But, when we are not interested in being a blessing, we have placed a limit on how much blessing can be entrusted in our hands. For instance, in contemporary times, John D. Rockefeller, the first American billionaire and a blessing to humanity, was struck with cancer. When the doctor said he would not see his 52nd birthday, he gave 50% of his fortune to bless humanity. Do you know what God did? He added over forty more years to him and he lived to be 93 years old. In another instance, we saw from scripture how the rich fool did not understand the purpose of his wealth so his life was terminated before he could enjoy his riches (Luke 12:16-20). In Luke 12:21, the scripture warns, So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. The rich fool cut his own life short, but thank God John D. Rockefeller was a wise rich man and he gave his way into longevity.

Unfortunately, like the rich fool, many are running after financial fortune on the earth today, while others are scheming to acquire wealth. Also, we understand from Scriptures that running after wealth makes a fool of such individuals (Proverbs 23:4-5).

    Reasons God Blesses His People

    • To Establish His Covenant: God is not a seed consumer but a seed multiplier. This is because His covenant is to multiply the seed sown (Deuteronomy 8:18; 2 Corinthians 9:9-10).
    • To Promote His Kingdom: The primary reason God wants us to prosper is for the gospel of Christ; He wants the gospel spread everywhere. Thus, putting God and the interest of the Kingdom first in our financial stewardship is what gets us into the realm of financial fortune (Matthew 6:33; Zechariah 1:17).
    • To Bless Humanity Through You: God wants to bless humanity through us. He wants us to cloth the naked, feed the hungry and provide shelter to the homeless. God wants us to be a blessing to our world that is why He wants us blessed (Genesis 12:3, 22:17-18).

In summary, God will never bless any man beyond his commitment to be a blessing because it can wreck him. Therefore, the more committed we are to being a blessing, the more blessings God entrust into our hands. Let us recognise that it is not how much we give that matters but how well our heart is with God. Without a heart for the needy, we are not candidates of His blessings. The moment God sees that our hearts are after Him and the interests of His Kingdom, there will be no end to the flow of His blessings into our lives (Proverbs 11:24). However, you cannot benefit from this teaching unless you are truly saved.
