  • Unveiling the benefits of the giving covenant!

Unveiling the benefits of the giving covenant!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another impactful week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Unveiling the Benefits of The Giving Covenant!

We discovered from Scriptures that covenant practice is the platform for operating in the realms of financial fortune. That is, God empowers us for wealth on the basis of His covenant (Deuteronomy 8:18). It is important to note that God’s financial dominion plan anchors on the covenant of seed time and harvest, which connotes giving and receiving. Remember, a covenant is a deal enacted by God based on well-defined terms and sealed with an oath, committing God’s integrity to make good His promise (Job 22:21-26; 2 Corinthians 8:9). This covenant is as reliable as the covenant of the day and night. That means, as the day and night keep changing positions and the sun and moon continues to rule the day and night, this covenant remains in force (Psalm 89:34; Jeremiah 33:20-21, 25-26; Philippians 4:15).

Let us also recognise that we either engage the covenant of abundance or we are not candidates for God’s financial fortune plan. This is because it is obedience to God’s commandments that puts us in command of His blessings. Therefore, we must take fast hold of instructions on any subject of interest to us because that is our guarantee for taking delivery of such provisions. God’s plans are authentic and His purposes are established in heaven forever. All we need is to position ourselves through obedience to take delivery of our portion (Genesis 12:1-3; Deuteronomy 5:32-33).

One great mystery behind financial fortune is having Kingdom advancement dreams. That is, for the financial giant in us to come alive, we must be big-time Kingdom dreamers. Without a Kingdom dream, we are not candidates for financial fortune. This is because God’s financial resources are primarily entrusted to promote His Kingdom. As it is written, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). We must recognise that Kingdom wealth is an entrustment not an achievement. That is, it is entrusted to people God can trust to fulfil His purpose with it (Luke 16:11; Exodus 35:4-5, 16, 22; Haggai 1:5-11). When we identify a cause in the Kingdom and invest in it with delight, we access God’s favour which makes us triumphant where others struggle. Therefore, the bigger our Kingdom dreams, the larger the coast of our financial fortune.

Interestingly, the returns on our givings are not only limited to financial blessings but other fringe benefits that money cannot buy. We understand from Scriptures that when the Israelites entered into a covenant to serve the Lord, which they proved through their sacrifices, He gave them rest roundabout (2 Chronicles 15:15).

What are the Benefits of the Giving Covenant?

    • It Averts Curses: Curses are real and there are many victims of generational curses in the world today. According to Scriptures, Noah reared an altar of sacrifice and God averted the curse upon humanity (Genesis 8:20-22). Also, as a result of David’s sin, God plagued the Israelites. However, when David offered a sacrifice to God, the Bible says, …So the Lord was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel (2 Samuel 24:24-25). If God averted the curse that He proclaimed through the altar of sacrifice, any other curse working against any destiny can be cheaply averted through the covenant of giving and receiving, which includes sacrifice (Malachi 3:6).
    • It Engenders Divine Health: Anytime we give to the needy, we are giving to the Lord and as such, we enjoy sound health, vitality and longevity (Proverbs 19:17; Matthew 25:35-40; Psalm 41:1-3). This is because true givers are not permitted to be tormented by sickness. We must understand that life is about ministering to the needs of those around us as ‘engraced’ by God. Money cannot buy health but giving secures and insures our health against all satanic assaults.
    • It Engenders Divine Protection: When we commit to the covenant of giving, we are protected from all the wickedness of the wicked (Psalm 20:1-3). The giving covenant invokes God’s blessings on our lives, which makes us indestructible. For instance, every plan to destroy Joseph failed because the blessings of his father prevailed on his life (Genesis 49:26). Likewise, when God pronounces us blessed, the assaults of the wicked cannot prevail on our lives (Psalm 112:10). When we engage in covenant practice, our protection is as sure as eternity. Moreover, every covenant practitioner has an impregnable wall of fire around him that the devil and his agents cannot break through (Job 1:9-10, 22:23-25).
    • It Engenders Fruitfulness: The covenant of giving and receiving terminates barrenness and grants us access to supernatural fruitfulness. Abraham and Sarah in their usual liberality entertained angels unaware. As a result, God terminated their shame and blessed them with Isaac, even in their old age (Genesis 18:1-10, 21:1-2). Also, the Shunammite woman and her husband ministered to Elisha and God blessed them with a son in return (2 Kings 4:8-17; Psalm 113:9).
    • It Engenders Favour: When Solomon reared an altar of sacrifice to God, He appeared to him (Solomon) in a dream and said, …Ask what I shall give thee (1 Kings 3:5). He asked for wisdom and God granted him more than he asked for. The giving covenant offers us an open cheque to secure God’s favour in our affairs (1 Kings 3:3-5, 13; Psalm 45:12)

In conclusion, Kingdom promotion investment is our covenant launching pad into the realms of financial dominion. This is because our givings qualify us for unusual attention with God. We must, therefore, stop thinking about meeting our family and personal needs alone. Rather, we must start thinking the Kingdom, humanity and impacting our world. Thus, our giving cannot have spiritual covenant returns until we are born again. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again! • ‘How I dumped masquerade worship for CCC’

‘How I dumped masquerade worship for CCC’

The Patron of Celestial Church of Christ, Oko-Oba Parish III, Venerable Most Senior Evangelist Gabriel Ojediran (JP) in this interview with Samson Oti, talked about his involvement as one of the foremost masquerade entertainers in Lagos, the general misconception that polygamy is common place among Celestial Church elders

As one of the Celestial Church’s parish front runners, tell us about life before you had an encounter with Christ.

I was born in Fiditi, Afijio Local Government, in Oyo State. I came from the family of Alagba, the family house of Akunuodun, the masquerade worshipers. I grew up worshiping Masquerade. I attended Methodist Modern School before I was enrolled into Construction work as a bricklayer, where I spent 7-years across the nation. I couldn’t further my education longer owing to family problems. My dad had many wives but unfortunately I was the only child of my own mother, so it was a tough journey, but I thank God for bringing me this far.

Throughout my stay in Fiditi, I used to lift the masquerade because that was what I knew to worship, and it was always like fun being under the Masquerade custom. I left Fiditi to Ibadan for an apprenticeship; I joined the Masquerade group in Alawo and Oke Sapati, and because of my surname, it’s very easy to know where I came from. I started the journey from Ibadan also by entertaining people, and on any Masquerade festive day, I must be in my costume. While still learning my construction work, I used to sneak out to lift Masquerade; I see it as fun. I don’t mind missing crucial assignments; as long as Masquerade is concerned I have to be there.

Something happened between Pencinema Agege and Dopemu area, which changed everything for me. There was a great slaughter in which soldiers killed thousands of people and demolished properties. According to what I heard, some masqueraders had approached a woman in her shop for money, and she probably refused. These masqueraders beat her up. Unfortunately, she was wife of a soldier. She immediately called her husband who happened to be on duty in Army Entombment. That was how soldiers came in battalion and started killing people. They leveled the ground from Pencinema to Dopemu, until government intervened.

Was that how you stopped worshiping the Masquerade?

On that fateful day, I ran for my life immediately I noticed the situation was getting messier. I took cover at a popular school, Saka Tinubu in Orile Agege. At that time, the school was uncompleted, so I hid in a classroom, yet I wasn’t relaxed. I was looking for an escape route to the shrine where I could change my costume. My next move from the school was to jump a particular fence to link the main road but where I jumped into was Celestial Church of Christ, Orile Agege parish. I was still in my Masquerade costume, and people from the church quickly gathered to see me where I was sitting in the mercy land. They went to call their shepherd and some prophets and prophetesses gathered to quiz my intention for jumping into the church.

As God would have it, I was given a listening ear to explain my situation and what led me into the church premises. They removed my masquerade custom and gave me the church’s white garment to wear. I was also told that God had destined me to become a member of the Celestial Church of Christ. At first, I refused but for God to prove Himself to me, the prophetess started exposing everything I had done in secret and I was told to go and destroy everything. That was how I met Christ and became a Celestial member from Orile Agege.

Did you start your own church after you became born again?

Celestial churches were not many in those days, so I worshiped at Orile Agege for many years. That was where I got my first anointment as ‘Elder Brother. I got proper orientation about Celestial from Orile and I had encounters with the founder Rev SBJ Oshoffa. While in Orile Parish, I led a group to meet Baba Oshoffa and I was able to ask him why he chose not to be wearing shoes. After I left Orile Agege Parish, I joined another popular church in Iju-Ishaga, Station Parish.

Tell us about planting of the Oko-Oba III parish being the patron of the church?

After I made a covenant with God that I would never go back to worshiping Masquerade, there was a revelation for me that God wanted to use me not only for one church, but that I must be ready to carry the cross till the end. Oko-Oba Parish III happened miraculously, it was never an initiative of any being. It happened like a mystery. It all started in my wife’s shop on a Sunday afternoon. And everything about the church was said that very day. By and large, it is a community church today that recently clocked 40-years. I didn’t grow up as a Christian, and I never went to seminary school at any point in order for me to think that I have a call to become the shepherd of the church. I am only being honoured as the church patron. Everything about the invention of Oko-Oba III happened the following Sunday of Juvenile Harvest while I was still worshiping at Station Parish. As at today, over 15 Shepherd from Ketu have served in the church. And for record purposes, we have a good relationship with the headquarters and that is why we are able to invite our spiritual leader Rev Mobiyina Oshoffa to our church for blessing.

As God used you to plant Oko-Oba III, does it mean it is your property?

No, it is not my property; it’s the property of Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide under the leadership of Reverend Mobiyina Oshoffa. During his lifetime Papa Oshoffa (the founder), he used to visit Orile Agege parish often, we heard so many things from him and he didn’t teach us that way. Even if you are a billionaire, and you have money to build a church with a Celestial logo, it does not mean it is your own. You can only build the church and take the documents to the headquarters. The name of the documents must be Celestial Church not individual names. And that has been the way we have been operating. We have not derailed from the tenets and doctrines of the church, led by the founder and that is why it will be difficult for anybody to mislead us.

In Celestial Church, most front-runners usually become the shepherd of the church. Why is your own different?

It’s because truthfulness does not exist again.

There are many factions in the Celestial Church of Christ today; does it mean the church cannot speak in unison since the founder passed?

It is because people are not being sincere. Our Hymn book says a lot about the doctrine of the church, and don’t forget that it is a spiritual church. That is the way Papa left the church, but unfortunately people are derailing. And that is why we are where we are today. The truth of the matter is that Imeko is Celestial headquarters and we have to respect that order as laid by the founder. But today, Celestial headquarters is everywhere and that is why many unfaithful things happen within the Celestial churches.

There is a popular belief that Celestial Church leaders are polygamous. Is this part of the church doctrine?

We are mixing spirituality with personality; and they must be treated differently. I know where you are going. Being polygamous does not have anything to do with the church. It is a personal affair; subject to debate. When Papa was alive, I heard it from his mouth when issues like this came up, he said it openly that apart from Mama Yamah that he married on his own; other women came directly from their parents. Papa never engaged in any form of fornication or adultery. Let me put it straight, being polygamous does not have anything to do with Celestial Church, it’s a personal thing and who are we to judge others? Celestials need peace and prosperity; we should stop any form of backwardness habit.

You said truthfulness does not exist in the church again, how?

See; let me tell you one fact about being faithful, most of us in the Celestial fold do not understand the grace God has given to us. God loves pureness, but most of us are not 100% committed to this, and that is why Celestial is suffering from power play and politics.

While worshiping Masquerade, have you ever had an encounter with religious people before?

Haaaa! This is an interesting question. I used to beat white garment church members whenever I wore my masquerade costume. I see them as evil spirits because they always see us the same way. I cannot count the number of white garment church members I gave serious beating, especially when they mistakenly came close to my father’s house drumming and praying. All I did was get my father’s permission to wear my costume and my cane to beat these people away in front of our house.

Now that you are in Christ, do you regret doing that?

No, I don’t, because that was my understanding then, and that is what I grew up to know. But today I have been able to understand that Christ supersedes all other gods.

  • Love: Access to financial fortune!

    Love: Access to financial fortune!

    Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to another exciting week! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Love: Access to Financial Fortune!

According to Scriptures, heaven is an epitome of wealth, splendour and beauty. The walls are made of jasper, the foundations of the walls of the city are of precious stones, the gates are made of pearl and all the streets of heaven are paved with pure gold (Revelation 21:11, 18-21). It is important to understand that the Church is ordained a ruling and super wealthy Church. God will be visiting the earth with heaven’s order of wealth before Christ returns. He will be releasing His wealth to His church so she can rule in the midst of her enemies (Malachi 3:17-18, 4:1-4; Haggai 2:6-9; Psalm 110:1-3; Proverbs 22:7).

However, from Scriptures we understand that a genuine love for God and His Kingdom is the biblical foundation and our covenant access to heaven’s order of financial fortune.

What are the Proofs of our Love for God?

    • If We Love God, We Will Give to the Poor: Giving to the poor is one way to prove our love for God (Matthew 25:35-40). Job understood this secret and as a result, he became the greatest businessman in his days (Job 29:4, 12-17; Job 1:1-3). Thus, if we say we love God and do not give to the poor, our love is fake. Our love for God naturally finds expression in our love for people, especially the poor. As it is written, If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? … (1 John 4:20-21).
    • If We Love God, We Will Give To Promote His Kingdom: Serving God and the interest of His Kingdom with our financial resources is another way to demonstrate our love for God. We must understand that the blessing of God upon our lives is essentially for the purpose of spreading the gospel (Zechariah 1:17). So, when we are committed to demonstrating our love for Him this way, He will manifest Himself to us (John 14:21; 1 John 5:3).
    • If We Love God, We Will Obey Him: Keeping God’s commandments launches us into realms of supernatural blessings (Psalm 112:1-3; 1 John 5:3). We must, therefore be excited at every commandment that comes our way, take delight in keeping them and then, we gain access to realms of supernatural blessings.

Biblical Examples of How Love Empowers for Kingdom Wealth

Concerning Solomon, the Bible records, And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places (1 Kings 3:3-4). After he reared that altar of sacrifice, God told him to ask whatever he desired and he requested for wisdom to rule His people. Please understand that his request was based on his love for God and the affairs of His Kingdom; as a result, God blessed him in return (1 Kings 3:12-13). Also, Solomon built the house of the Lord with pure gold and the best of materials (1 Kings 6:21-36). This is to show where his heart was and as a result, he was launched into the ‘Heaven on Earth’ order of wealth and extraordinary abundance (1 Kings 10:4-6). Furthermore, David was referred to as a man after God’s own heart and he emerged a financial giant. He was virtually wealthier than the entire nation in his days (1 Chronicles 29:3-5). We must also understand that our love for God and His Kingdom are the two-fold platforms for the rise of giants. It is also the covenant launching pad into a world of financial fortune. The Bible says, …But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:31-33; see also Psalm 102:13-15). No wonder all true lovers of God in Bible times, flowed supernaturally in financial fortune. Therefore, love-motivated stewardship is the platform for the rise of financial giants in the Kingdom. However, God’s love is not theoretical but practical. That is, it is impossible to love God and not know.

In summary, accessing heaven’s order of financial fortune through love is a reality if you are born again. • What attracted me to Christianity, by Margaret ldahosa

What attracted me to Christianity, by Margaret ldahosa

    By Adeola Ogunlade

The Archbishop of the Church of God Mission International, Margaret Idahosa, has said that she got attracted to Christianity when God used her late husband to raise a dead boy.

She made the revelation in an online video interview posted over the week to mark her 77th birthday.

Idahosa, said “l was attracted to Christianity when God used my late husband Archbishop Benson Idahosa to raise a dead boy. “Brother Benson and the dead child left the room. That was what got me into Christianity”

She said that in the night, I was going to sleep and I was thinking about the miracle because the coffin for the dead child was already bought and the father had gone to get the certificate of death but came back to see a living child.

She continued: I was asking the Lord how he got that power. I did not hear God respond to me but I had peace in my mind.

“The following day he came and I asked him how he got the power and he began to preach to me about the finished work of Calvary and that I could do it myself. So he started preaching to me and I started going to church with him”.

Idahosa, the first female chancellor in Nigeria, said “when it was time for me to get married my father said, no, you can’t get married to hallelujah man. My father was a die-hard Anglican. So we started praying”.

She posited that her husband said we should give him time. When I was 26, my father was still adamant. But my mother was behind me. My father did not come to the wedding but his brothers came. We got married.

“I am glad that before he died we were his darling. We changed his house and furniture and gave him all that he could not get when he was working in PWD.”

Idahosa said further in the interview that marriage is not sustained by love alone but by patience, communication and perseverance.

She warned young ladies who want to marry not to marry an unbeliever. “she must not marry a man that has no work either because Adam had a job before God brought Eve his way.” She said.

She, however, said she never thought she would be married to a pastor. “The pastors I knew then had tattered clothes. Their shoes were eaten up. I wanted a man that we would go to the movie together, come to the restaurant and have fun. But God had a different plan.

“He (my husband) came along the line and everything changed. We used to talk about marriage when he had not proposed to me. I believed he prayed. When he proposed I said no problem.”

  • Covid-19: ‘What the church needs to do’

Covid-19: ‘What the church needs to do’

The Pastor in Charge of Divine Mercy Baptist Church, Ikosi, Ketu, Lagos, Rev Femi Popoola in an interview speaks on government’s handling of the pandemic and the need for Christians to intensify prayers on the pandemic and praise God at all situations. Excerpt by Adeola Ogunlade

For the past six month, the world has been focused on the Coronavirus pandemic. So far, are you satisfied with government response to the pandemic?

The government response was not impressive. People were asked to stay at home during the total lockdown and there was a lot of hunger in the whole nation; people were hungry, people were angry because for the first time we were asked to stay at home: no provision, nothing unlike in other places where the social welfare is functional.

Also, during that period as well, we saw the law enforcement agency using that platform to rake money in again. So, all these things makes it so unimpressive the way the government have responded to the pandemic.

Let’s agree government response is poor based on limited knowledge and information about COVID-19. How should the church relate with the new normal occasioned by the pandemic?

Definitely God is in control of everything that happens and that the church belongs to God; and before Jesus Christ left the earth he has already said that whatever happens the gate of hell shall not prevail against the church. And this is not the first time  the whole world is witnessing pandemic.

So, in all the pandemic that have taken place, the church have survived. This time also, with time – it may not be immediate but with time the church will definitely come out of it.

And as we are praying we know that God is the one in control of everything; God knows how to rescue us from it. And again we are hearing news of the discovery of vaccine to combat this pandemic.

So, in all of these things we know that God is going to make it work together not only for the good of the church, but for the good of all.

In a bid to curb the spread and contain the pandemic, government took the lockdown option on businesses, worship centres and other event centres: What lessons has the pandemic taught the church, five months after lockdown?

There are so many lessons – the first thing is that for long some people in some quarters have believed that until the church come together worship cannot take place.

I think this pandemic have actually prove that to be wrong – we know now that it is not until we gather that the church can actually influence the society that we are living in. Then two: I think it has also taught us that anything can happen at anytime.

So, we should always be prepared, and in addition to that, its also here to let us know that when it come to the business of the church; it is not only about taking care of the body, but it is about the condition of the soul at every point in time – that the soul is so important and we must not do anything to neglect the need to take care of the soul at all time.

The death rate from this pandemic in Nigeria is just 2 percent; does this call for National Thanksgiving?

Well, even if it is one percent; the bible teaches us that in all things we should give thanks. That you are still alive, whether pandemic or no pandemic people will die definitely, but death will not prevent us from thanking God. So, we need to thank God – whatever the situation or circumstances may be; we must thank God.

  • Covenant gateways to financial dominion!

    Covenant gateways to financial dominion!

    By Dr. David Oyedepo

Welcome to August! I have no doubt that many of us must have experienced what Kingdom stewardship is all about all through the month of July, 2020. My prayer is that God’s Kingdom shall be your priority for living all the days of your life, in Jesus name (Amen)! This month, we shall focus on: Covenant Gateways to Financial Dominion!

From Scriptures, we understand that financial dominion in the Kingdom anchors on the covenant of ‘sowing’ and ‘reaping’; that is, giving and receiving (Genesis 8:22; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Luke 6:38). This connotes that giving is ‘sowing’ and receiving is ‘reaping’.

Therefore, the covenant of giving and receiving is God’s anchor for His financial fortune plan for the saints. In other words, we are empowered for wealth based on God’s covenant of financial fortune.

A covenant, in this context, is a deal enacted by God based on well-defined terms and sealed with an oath, committing God’s integrity to make good His promise (Deuteronomy 8:18; Jeremiah 33:20-26; Malachi 3:6-11; Genesis 14:19-21).

Furthermore, it is important to understand that God’s financial plan is ONLY accessible to those who are interested in the terms of the covenant.

What are the Gateways to this Covenant?

    • We must Commit to Kingdom Promotion Opportunities with Delight as they Arise from Time to Time: The Bible says that when we take pleasure in the things of the Kingdom, the heaven over us will not be shut from dew, the earth will never cease to yield her fruits to us and things will answer in our lives in the positive. We must also remember that God will not ask us to bring an ‘Isaac’, if He has not given us one. This is because God only demands what He has given to us (Psalm 102:12-14; Haggai 1:2-14).
    • Giving to The Poor As ‘Engraced’ By God: The Bible says, He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again (Proverbs 19:17). This was the secret that Job traded and God blessed him till he became the richest man in his days. We must break the donation mentality in our giving life, even when giving to the poor. This is because if we don’t give to them, someone else will. Therefore, let us give to the needy with a heavenly transaction mentality that delivers undeniable returns to us (Job 29:12-13; Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 28:27; 2 Corinthians 8:1-7).

How Does God Bless us in Return for our Giving?

    • Through the Rain of Divine Ideas: Every empire on earth is built on ideas. For instance, Abraham’s empire extended from one generation to another because he received divine insight from God to build the first cattle ranch. Furthermore, he dug a well and founded the first borehole technology. Isaac also operated in divine idea when he designed the first irrigation farming system and became ‘the farmer’ of his generation (Genesis 13:2, 24:34-35, 26:12-22).
    • Through the Works of Our Hands: It is written, Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land (Job 1:9-10). That means Job became the greatest man in the East because God blessed the works of his hands.
    • Through Divine Favour: God’s favour is what makes high flyers in the Kingdom. Nobody fails with favour because it advances destinies supernaturally and always culminates in fortune. For instance, Joseph had God’s favour and became the heir apparent to Potiphar. That favour followed him to the prison where he became the head of the inmates and thereafter, a Prime Minister in the palace (Genesis 39:5, 21; Psalm 102:13-14, 45:12).
    • Through Priestly Blessings: Priestly blessings changes people’s stories for good. This is because while God speaks to our lives, prophets speak to our moments. For instance, when Abraham gave his tithe, Melchizedek proclaimed a blessing upon him and God confirmed it. As a result, Abraham became a possessor of heaven and earth, and Christ died to connect us to that Abrahamic order of blessings (Genesis 14:19; Galatians 3:13-14). Therefore, we must embrace and appropriate priestly blessings to see them manifest in our lives and in many generations to come.

We must understand that the covenant of financial abundance is not only for financial blessings but also for things that money cannot buy and that includes longevity. For instance, all our covenant fathers enjoyed long life: Abraham lived to be 175 years old, Isaac departed at 180, Jacob died at 147 and Job lived for 140 years even after his ordeal (Genesis 25:7-8, 35:28-29, 47:28; Job 42:10-17).

That means among the fringe benefits of the covenant of abundance, is longevity. This helps us to recognise that old age is good and it is God’s perspective for all His children. However, we must understand that all our covenant fathers engaged the covenant of giving and receiving as a lifestyle and that engendered their longevity (Genesis 14:19-21, 28:22-28).

That means when God’s blessing comes upon us, we become indestructible. Every effort to destroy Joseph failed because there was a blessing on him. This is because covenant blessings put us above circumstances that destroy others, including death.

In conclusion, the covenant of giving and receiving is a mystery. That is why the devil wants to rob us of the blessings therein. Therefore, we must understand that it is our giving capacity that defines the limits of God’s blessings on our lives because we are blessed primarily to be a blessing.

That is why we will not be blessed beyond our capacity to being a blessing. However, to command financial dominion, you must be born again.

Eid-el-Kabir: Oyo opens prayer grounds for Muslims

    Yinka Adeniran, Ibadan

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has directed that prayer grounds across the state be opened for Muslim faithful to observe Eid-el-Kabir prayers.

Warning however that social distancing must be observed, Makinde said the prayers must be observed in strict compliance with all COVID-19 protocols in the interest of the health and well-being of the worshippers and people of the state.

The Governor speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa in a statement also urge the leadership of each prayer ground to ensure the availability of hand wash points and compulsory use of nose mask, adding that each prayer ground must only accommodate 25 percent of the capacity.

The statement reads in part “As the Muslim Ummah prepare to undertake this year’s Eid-el-Kabir prayers, the Government of Oyo State wishes to advice Islamic clerics and leaders to the need to maintain strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols, especially the social distancing rule.

“The Eid Praying Grounds across the state have, upon the directive of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, been opened to Muslims for the purpose of the 2020 Eid-el-Kabir prayers.

“His Excellency reckons that prayers are important to overcome the challenges that presently assail us, especially the COVID-19 pandemic.

“However, just like many aspects of our lives that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be an adjustment to Eid prayer gatherings. There is the need to ensure that not more than 25 per cent of worshippers are allowed at every instance in order to ensure compliance with the social distancing rule.

“Similarly, let it also be noted that no worshipper should be allowed into the praying ground without face masks and readiness to wash hands with soap and water in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

“To further ensure safety and ownership of the Covid-19 preventive measures, the Emergency Operations Centre, EOC, of the Oyo State Covid-19 Task Force, has sent advisories to major markets and shopping malls, on the need for strict compliance with Covid-19 preventive protocols during this festive period and beyond.

“The EOC has also contacted all the health educators in the 33 LGAs in the state with a mandate to reach out to possible places of gathering and advice on the need for responsible behavior, just as the centre has revved up risk communication advisories on radio.

“In addition to these measures, however, all clerics and leaders are expected to take on the responsibility of guiding our people to pay attention to even the minutest detail on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during this festivity.

“The need to follow all laid down guidelines on COVID-19 prevention must be emphasised to every resident of the state at this period, in accordance with the Own Your Action initiative of the State’s COVID-19 Task Force, which emphasizes that our wellbeing and safety are individual responsibilities.

“The Oyo State government wishes the Muslim Ummah a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir, filled with the blessings and benevolence of Almighty Allah.”
